Open a dispute with PP now. They will have taken their fee from that £300, and every other transaction made on their system. That money is partially used to protect and help buyers. They will help you, and more importantly, give him a load of hassle.

I think anyone is brave to buy any second hand carbon bike… That’s just MHO though.

Hardly got the mrs anything this year, as she got an iPad air for her birthday.

I have got my brother a STW gift sub though. 8)

Ours is tonight. Drinks then curry. The boss has already made a joke about getting the office junior to man the fort tomorrow, so I’m (and everyone else is) taking that as permission to not bother coming in tomorrow. 🙂

You know, I keep drifting through life, never knowing what I want, what I don’t want, where I want to go and what I want to do…

Now though, I know. I REALLY know, and it’s all thanks to STW.

All I’ve ever wanted….. is a sharks head bottle opener. 😥

You’ll need a new wheel. Decathlon sell cheap wheels, not sure if they’re in pares or not though…

If you don’t have tools, it’ll take a bike shop 2 mins to swap your cassette and tyre over to the new wheel.

If you want winter training, try doing you local loop on that bad boy!

But really, can anyone explain why the chain drops all the time….just because I stopped pedalling for a couple of seconds.

Sticky free hub. Replace or service it.

    I’m sure there’s an XT shadow + 9spd mech?

Ok now I’m sure there isn’t (after a bit of googling). Not sure a clutch mech would be that high of a priority on a commuting bike though…

    UPDATE:

XT wheels arrived last night. Very nice bits of kit. 🙂

Will see how they get on over the xmas hols, but the rims and spokes look reassuringly strong compared to what I was going to build (DT X470 rims with DT comp spokes).

Denis99, I’d think about getting out.

I know it will feel good to stick it to the boss over the filter thing, and you don’t want to feel like they’ve pushed you out of your job (i.e. won), but if you’re stressed and ill, you don’t need the hassle of it all.

Take your month or so off and get well, then look for another job, and move on. Work towards your future, instead of the future of a company you don’t want to work for.

If you still want to push the filter issue, put the info in your notice email and copy in everyone (reps, managers, directors, suppliers…. everyone!). You cant do more than that, so if they still want to ignore your good, professional advice, f@*k em, it wont be your problem anymore…

Just my advice, but hope you get sorted either way.

I’d go 1×9. Cheap parts, and a bit more robust than 10 speed I think (especially if road salt is involved!).

Do you think if you posted a ‘how’s my living room look?’ thread, everyone would comment on a bike they could see through the window?

Keep going though, Its keeping me amused. 😛

Final Fantasy 7. Increase the resolution and generally improve the graphics without messing with the style, maybe make it slightly less grindy, change NOTHING ELSE.

    LEAVE THAT GAME ALONE!

    Ghouls ‘n Ghosts = Dark Souls….

    Thomson dropper, easy.

For me too. First dropper I’ve had (reviews of reverbs put me off the idea for a while), but it’s been excellent and oozes quality.

Dropper posts in general are a great addition to any bike.

Take a cheap HT and leave it out there until your last week.

If your staying at a particular hotel each week, I’m sure they would store your bike over the weekends.

EDIT – New idea, you need to take a fat bike!

I think people who want their bikes serviced by a LBS, for what ever reason, can do, and there’s nothing wrong with that. As long as your bikes running well, who cares where you got it set up.

My advice though (and the advice of a lot of the forum) is to try yourself. Replacing cables, greasing bearings, and setting your bike up is very easy once you’ve done it once (If your mechanically minded or not). There’s a lot of pride to be had in riding a bike you know has been set up correctly, by yourself. Plus cost savings etc…

In terms of learning, I learnt from taking my MTB and BMX to bits when I was a quite young. Sometimes I had to ask dad for advice, but I always had to fix it myself. With the internet now, you’re only second away from any advice you’ll ever need.

Bikes are really easy to service yourself.

The biggest advantage of being your own mechanic, is you’ll know your bike inside out. If something starts acting up, you’ll probably know exactly what is wrong, and exactly how to fix it.

If you need help, check out shimano’s tech site. You can download instructions for every bit of kit they’ve ever made. Most of it will transfer to other makes of pedals/gears/chainsets etc… as they are all very similar in operation (the differences should be fairly obvious).

    All of the above really.

Top of the list is –

Any type of crisps + a glass of coke or pepsi, which turns into 3 bags of crisps and 3 glasses of coke or pepsi (diet though).

    Butterkissed Toffee Popcorn.

    Bacon in any form.

    Curry in any form.

Mincraft is amazing. 🙂 easy way to kill a few hundred hours off your life.

If your getting hammered all the time by mobs (bad guys), you can change the difficulty to ‘peaceful’ when you load your world. That way you can explore far and wide more easily.

I think I’m sold on the full XT wheels. I’m bidding on some NOS XT hubs on fleabay. If they go over I think I’ll buy a set of full wheels from CRC. If I win them, I’ll build them onto some nice rims.

Thanks for the advice from those of you that are running them.

Also, if you don’t enjoy fettling cup n’ cones you are a heathen.

Agreed. I remember the BMX wheels wouldn’t get done until the wheel would barely turn when I was a young-un. Was a satisfying job to get them then dialled in just perfect though. 🙂 (Despite the bloody knuckles!)

Binners, you are correct, fit and forget hubs are easier.

I’ve serviced plenty of cup and cone bearings in the last 15 years, not that much of an issue for me, as I like to work on the bike anyway.

Bearings in my hope hubs on the SC last a year or so, and cost quite a bit to replace (I’ve tried cheap bearings, they wear fast and have play from the off in the 15mm axle fork!). Cup and cone costs nothing but grease and time, I’m ok with that.

Just checked, AutoCAD Can do it (Loft command from splines), so I’m surprised SW can’t do it…

    grenosteve

Thanks for that. Is the inside face of the rim blank (no holes)? Seems nice and easy to set up tubeless…

They do seem a bit heavier than I’d expect. I think XT hubs on something like DT X470 rims would be a similar weight if not lighter, but with easy to source spokes.

You may struggle to import a Rhyno NURBS surface into Solidworks (if that’s your aim).

Can you re-build the splines in solidworks? They would all need the same number of vectors for the extrusion to work, which should be an option when tidying up the splines. (I’ve not used SW, but that’s how it would work in Maya/3DS Max to produce a nice poly mesh or NURBS Surface).

Are you after a visual, or something accurate to measure from? And does it need to work in any other programs?

Yes, don’t exercise if you’ve got anything respiratory, not only will it take ages to clear, you run the risk of making yourself really ill.

The latest batch of cold has been with me for 4 weeks now. 🙁 I’m getting fed up of it!
