Interested in one of these..Does it come with any mount that can attach to aero road handlebars does anyone know

Using one from Raceware on my Canyon. Or you clean buy an adapter if you gave a Garmin/K-Edge one already.

If it works, do not under any circumstances update the firmware!

Crashes galore and a frequent inability to upload/download courses and activities to your phone will follow.

Missus rides these on here road bike. Loves them

They are a bit lighter and sleeker looking than the Celsius ones that I have which are far better and warmer than overshoes

Rapha Pro Team is cut lower than that Castelli but certainly no cheaper

My Salomon XA Pros have lasted me years and I wear them for anything outdoors. I even used them when I started mountain biking (paired with some V8s).

The uppers still look perfect but the soles are pretty much smooth now. Waiting to catch a bargain and will buy the same again.

Just picked up a pair of Assos Equipes from Ribble a couple of weeks back. £100 after discounts – down from £160.

Same pad as the 3/4s I’ve been riding all winter and have been perfect on long rides.

Same saddle on both mine – Selle Italia Flite. Only difference is the one on my road bike has a cutout to help with things getting a little more squashed in the lower position.

Shimanos were narrower than Sidis for me by quite some margin. XC61s vs Dragon 4s

Got Dragon 4s for my road bike. Very comfortable. More comfortable and better fit than the Shimano XC61s which I found too narrow but lighter and possibly stiffer.

EBH on form but I can’t see past Kristoff. Would love to see a long range swansong attack from Cancellara

    Sagan to be second….of course

The missus loves the Assos stuff.

Never felt the need myself despite some all day 100 mile plus rides. Tempted by the minty tingle promise though

Same cranks and BB on my Nerve. First one lasted a couple of years – outlasting 2 cassettes and front rings by quite a way. So I just replaced like for like with the one in the OPs link as they are pretty cheap

Second one looks to be lasting at least as long

Get yourself on one of the 4WD safaris up onto the glaciers. Then see how low tubeless can really go. 4PSI to ride the snow in a Land Rover.

Golden Circle tours gets you to the obvious stuff – geysers, waterfalls etc. The Blue Lagoon is also worth it. Next door to the airport so book for your last day and you get your transfer for free.

Great place to eat is Tapas Barinn for an Icelandic feast. Reykjavic is really small, you can walk from one end to the other in 10 minutes so most is clustered together so you can wander around and choose which looks best.

Missus uses the Wahoo one. BT/Ant+ means it works well with either a phone or an Edge.

I have the new Garmin one with the hub/crank sensors. Easy to get working and better for leaving on if you actually go outdoors but the speed seems a little more jumpy – averages are fine even over short timescales but the graphs are a little less stable.

There’s a Premier Inn at Bagshot – with a Beefeater no less! 10 minute ride away from the SE corner of the Red loop.

If you want to go more upmarket, our village’s gastropub has chalets/rooms. It’s aimed at people who come hunting/shooting and caters for dogs so a bike isn’t much of a stretch….. 30 minute ride from Swinley.

My missus rides an aluminium Endurance, has had it for a year now. Great value bike and a great frame. Just over 8kg, full 105, Mavics and full carbon fork for £800. Bargain.

    Came on time too!

That’s all I do, non-bio liquid in the main. Sometimes use soap flakes instead if I remember. Never had to re-proof it yet after a few months

DD stopped me getting loads of punctures on a Ralph. Has much more protection under the tread whereas snakeskin is more about the sidewalls.

Good against thorns, not sure how much better it will be on rocks.

Had mine for a couple of months and there are a lot of problems with it. Well documented on Garmin’s forums.

The 72bpm issue is the main one for me. It’s what is displayed when it’s starting to read your HR. Not really an issue to be honest, just give it a few seconds to get a reading. It does not constantly read your HR, it does it on demand or every 10 minutes or so in the background.

What is a big problem is that it will drop to 72 whenever you touch the display – or your sleeve does! It does it whenever you get an email/text, whenever you hit a goal or wait for it ….. whenever your wife’s Garmin beeps as it finshes charging! It did that to me on the turbo yesterday morning – I was broadcasting from the wristband to my Edge.

It seems like ANY interruption means the HR resets to the default of 72 and then starts to get a reading again. My Strava graphs look like I died 3 times in an hour on the turbo yesterday!

PS That aside, it’s pretty accurate. Matched against a Wahoo strap it was always within about 5 bpm. The only area it can’t handle is fast changes and recovery – always seems to lag a little

Gore Phantom. It’s a road jacket but a relaxed fit so it has become my winter mtb jacket.

Had it 4 or 5 years now and still looks as good as new. Works below zero with a couple of good layers underneath.

5ft 8in and totally happy on my medium.

I do have short legs/long body syndrome though, so tend to prefer longer bikes.

Sounds like you need to have a pedal round rather than just sit on top of them.

Same height but ride a small. Medium felt just too stretched out. Your long torso helped you size up I guess.

Got both as well – the LS gets more use and agree it’s comfortable down to 5 degrees with a thin Craft LS base.

Picked it up for £95 from Wiggle just before Xmas. £110 then used their £15 off over a ton offer.

Have some nanoflex arm warmers to use with the SS but it never seems as good and there aren’t that many warmer soggy days. Very few times have I worn them and taken off the arm warmers during the ride.

Same offer they did for Wiggo’s hour. Ended up buying one of their cut price bundles to get to the tenner.

They have some decent deals on their website every now and then but it usually works out cheaper getting stuff from Wiggle who seem to sell SIS stuff permanently at half price

    I’ve a 6 month old Defy 0 and it’s definitely press fit.

Aluminium Defys have standard steerer top sizes. They are called Overdrive but that’s just Giant speak for tapered. The alum ones are 1 1/8 to 1 1/4 but the carbon framed ones (Overdrive 2) are 1 1/4 to 1 1/2.

Wife’s 810 used to freeze every couple of hours or so and then take a while to re-find the satellites.

Solution was to downgrade the firmware to 3.40. It’s not put a foot wrong for a few hundred miles now over the last 4 months or so.

Have heard the new firmware is better but not dared try it as this all started happening after an ‘upgrade’. Garmin’s firmware testing is infamously crap.

This is using the OS maps that you buy separately.

Castelli Alpha. Minus 2 the other morning with just a base layer underneath.

Not cheap but not as much as the Assos.

    gren

My wife’s 810 consistently under reads by 25% vs my 510. Distance spot on but ascending is screwed.

    Still at least it’s consistent.

The ones linked to are the fairly new version 2s. Hopefully you can pick up the older ones cheaper?

If you’re a size 48 Winstanleys have them for £85.

I’ve the non-arctic ones that I wear on my road bike. Was out last weekend at -2 and toes were getting cold with one pair of winter socks on. When it warmed up to +3 or so they were fine. So I think an extra pair of liner socks would take you nicely below zero. I went one size up so I could do this. Otherwise I think fit is bang on

Wore them yesterday at around +9 and they were bordering on the too warm so a nice temp range for typical British winters.

The missus did a 205 miler 4 months after getting her first road bike. Averaged around 14mph over 16 hours so a nice steady speed.

Was the ‘Chase the Sun’ ride – started at sunrise and ended at sunset riding coast to coast, east to west across the south of England.

Second the recommendation on the xc61s. Use these on my road bike. Nice fit and very stiff

I’ve had one for 3-4 years now. An XC9.0…. so old it’s got these tiny wheels and came with 3 (yes 3) rings up front!

It’s never put a foot or wheel wrong. It’s my only mtb and up until recently was putting in around 50 off road miles every week. Nothing other than wearable stuff (cassettes, chainrings etc) has ever needed changing.

As above…. Great Jersey but not waterproof and not that warm. Good for road spray and drizzle or if you get caught out in a shower. Works best if you’re motoring along.

Alpha jacket is a whole lot warmer, will take you to zero easily but no more waterproof. Probably less.

Best option would be a shell and layers underneath.

5′ 8″ and perfectly happy on my small Defy 0. Tried the medium and felt a bit stretched out – maybe that’s what a road bike is supposed to feel right but it wasn’t for me.

A 5 hour/75 mile ride most weekends and never an ache in sight so I think I made the right call.

Had the same problem with a X0 triple I used to run. £60 for a middle ring ffs!

Ended up getting a full set of rings barely used from eBay for £20 posted. Maybe I got lucky with timings but keep an eye out there and on Pinkbike. Never did find any alternatives and ended up swapping it for a double the next time it went. Again £20 for new rings off Pinkbike.

Love my Single track shorts but ended up getting some MT500s when I went for 3/4s. A bit lighter weight and keep you dry. Wear them over 3/4 bibs all through the winter and my knees keep nice and toasty

My wife cracked the forks on her Canyon road bike in an accident. A few emails including photos and two days later a new set were being arranged to go in the post. Had to be paid for but discounted in their crash replacement scheme. They just arrived today – 2 weeks from end to end

Great service form the local team.
