Have you looked at Bertazzoni? No experience other than ogling the nice orange one in the local John Lewis!

if it’s in a National Park then you could apply for a FiPL grant as long as you align it to one of the 4 ‘outcomes’. https://www.southdowns.gov.uk/custodians/farming/farming-in-protected-landscapes-fipl/

I know I’ve had a go already, but my suggestion was released in 1980, so not sure if it counts now 🙂. So, another one would be The Trinity Session – Cowboy Junkies (1988).

Not ridden a bike for a good few years but still look on here every now and then and it’s threads like these that make me want to go out again but I never quite seem to manage it 🙁. Great photos Rdog.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned but the Weald and Downland Museum is worth a visit. Loved the doing the Arundel art trail when we lived nearby, so recommend that, if you’re around for it.

@kitebikeski – is that working for Cawdor? Noticed the job on Indeed and very tempted but not sure of the logistics of moving from Devon!

You might need planning permission to convert to residential use, as well, so it might worth contacting the local planning dept. I know there’s an empty shop near us and they’ve had permission refused to convert to residential use.

As well as OSM, the OS also provide a range of data that you can use in QGIS, such OS OpenMap Local or OS Open Zoomstack OS Open Data Hub. You may well find that the forest tracks and paths are already captured in these products, so you can easily filter them out.

Train down (or drive) from Waterloo to Godalming and then explore Thursley and Hankley Commons, then up to the Devil’s Punch Bowl, Gibbet Hill and back via Witley/Milford. Alternatively, down to Haslemere and do a big loop via the Devil’s Punch Bowl, Golden Valley, Ludshott Common and loop round Liphook via the commons and then climb Blackdown and back to Haslemere. I’ve probably got some PDF route maps if you want them. Mostly bridleways but some good riding, which I miss since moving away 🙁

I get to play with maps all day long. I’m a GIS Officer for a national park.

It’s fairly straightforward to do in QGIS and probably just as easy as some of the Google Maps/Earth suggestions. Instructions here. If you need to geocode your postcodes (add coordinates), then you can use the batch geocoder here. The other option would be to use an online GIS, like MangoMaps or Mapbox. Happy to help with QGIS, if go with this option.

As an aside, the Dougal site has some Strava tools for segment exploring and viewing.

Re travel into and then on from airports. This question was asked at the April 10 briefing and the reply from Matt Hancock wa:

    Matt Hancock: (15:14)
The answer to both questions Ben is the same, which is that we follow the science and we’ve followed the science in terms of international travel all along. And we saw right at the start of this pandemic that the country that the two countries that brought in the most draconian international travel restrictions, the United States and Italy, both of them have now got serious problems themselves. So I think that the science which said that which we followed on international travel has been born out by events.

He also travels to/from London back to his home in Hereford. Wouldn’t it make more sense to stop in his ‘second’ home in London?

We’ve used Wahl ones in the past but they’ve been a bit flimsy. Currently using Andis Ultra Edge ones that my wife bought from a dog show a few years back. We trim our dog on a regular basis, so need some decent clippers!

My wife has just lost her job, though not totally unexpected as she only started last week. Was in the office all last week and was told to wfh yesterday. Though not fully trained up yet, she was doing work, rather than sitting on her hands! I guess she didn’t qualify for the 80% scheme?

The OS has a flying unit that captures aerial imagery, which is the used to update its base mapping. I doubt they’d copy from OSM. https://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/blog/2017/03/behind-scenes-flying-unit/

Interesting thread as I start my new job in the New Year, though it’s based in Bovey. What’s the general thoughts on Newton Abbot, as that’s where we got a rental and may look to stay if we can’t find anything in Bovey.

Me too! Seemed to go well and they offered me the job this afternoon😊. Just need to decide now as it means a pay cut and relocation to South Devon (Bovey Tracey). Hope you had the same success Mboy.

Couldn’t you merge the 2 tables and then use a pivot table based on company, date and sum the value?
