Won’t AG2R attack off of Or’non to destroy the peleton and again off the Croix to isolate Froome so he’s alone by the Galibier? Much easier said than done

Gonna be fun seeing how Quintana and Landa interact next year if they keep similar form

I think the block head wind forced them to give up hope for Bardet to gap people on the climb and descent and put some time into the others as well, so they had to be happy to just make Froome dig deep going in to rest day

AG2R have a target to win the team classification, no fans give a stuff about the team classification but apparently the teams care. Sky were leading AG2R at the start of the day by 19minutes and at the end of the day by 9minutes, so it was quite a successful day for AG2R in the regard

Read a little on polarised training today, and it all makes complete sense. A little reluctant to follow such plans… I once did a winter of LSD training and didn’t feel any benefit from it whatsoever. In fact I think my fitness was pretty poor by the end!

The thing with polarised is the easy has to be really easy because the hard is supposed to be brutally hard

What does Froome have in his nose when he’s warming down? Looks like a nose ring but that seems unlikely

He wears it before the race as well, you seem him sat in the group waiting to cycle and has one in, figure he pulls it out and chucks it as soon as the race start

Think they turned it as hard as they could, they burnt through four or five guys in those few km’s

    So much booing for froome

Froome is gonna loose all his team mates on the climb surely and Landa might move into highest placed Sky rider, surely they cant call him back

Time to put that 58-32 to work soon for Tony

At the front you can control the pace, choose which breaks get away and which get shut down, not get caught out by moves that you are too far back to get involved in, not get caught up in a crash, not get caught out by a cross wind and they can ride the sky tempo train of death up the climbs that puts most of the field on the limit and not in position to have enough energy to attack

Looking forward to today after reading Inrng, hope Bertie and Bardet decide to go on the attack although would be good to see Cummings get a win

What more is Valgren supposed to do exactly – he can’t pedal Aru’s bike for him?

Not ride off because the leader cant hold it, provide some shelter and support to get a tired leader home

I can’t see it being a problem at all with Sky, because Froome won’t be losing the wheel.

I think we have seen times in this tour where Landa could of happily cycled off the front and left Froome isolated but he hasn’t done it unless given team orders to

I think the problem with women’s sport is that they generally lack strength in depth

Agree with this, there are some great womens MMA matches but the depth is lacking in the weight classes, so outside a few great individuals you land up with big miss matches, that will hopefully change over time though

Landa is a massive threat as well now, so Sky have a stacked hand to play going forwards

Don’t see Valgren fitting in at Sky if his attitude is, if the team leader cant hold my wheel, stuff him

I dont think Aru wanted to be out of yellow but is he better out of it going into the mountains given how weak Astana is?

They generally don’t have any shallow,so you are straight into deep water and as mentioned the thermocline can be significant, diving in can put you in very cold water

The course designers did take into account the descent could be challenging which is why they moved the finish line further from the bottom than it was in the Douphene, to remove some of the need to go all out on the descent.

It’s a soaking wet day in the Jura mountains. I’d take the very small weight penalty (it’s nowhere near half a kilo on most modern bikes) for the extra security of, oh I don’t know, NOT crashing into a rock face and writing off the entire rest of my season

I don’t disagree with you but the peleton appears to, one of the biggest barriers to disc break adoption in pro racing has been lack of interest from riders.it’s been manufacturer driven, not rider driven.

People were throwing thier bottles away within ten minutes of the start in preparation for the days climbing,I guess most wouldn’t want the additional half a kilo weight penalty of discs with that much climbing, like you say marginal gains

And Demare and half of FDJ gone. Who else missed the cut?

Renshaw, Trentin and the other sagan

Just crossed the line at 59 minutes with three team mates, cut off was 40

    Blimey! What happened to him?

He’s not well apparently, was close to getting cut yesterday

With in 5km he was off the back with team mates, think they hoped to pace him around to the rest day but must of been struggling more than expected

    greentricky

Demare has 30km to do in forty minutes to not get cut, likely going to take half of fdj out with him

    greentricky

Of course he won’t get a penalty but it looked pretty deliberate

So froome going to get a sagan type penalty for pushing Aru?
