Yeah, it’s a matter of shopping around, or find someone who works with a lot of them. Usually some excess that can be redistributed….

@Edukator, ah makes sense then. When I was posted there I was a new driver, that’ll be why we were told it was ‘zero tolerance’ as the limit was so low. Bit of artistic licence to scare us into not doing it. Doesn’t surprise me the highest allowed level, we seem to be dragging behind continental europe in many ways.

On topic, I’ve applied for a couple of volunteer roles with a charity here in Leeds intervening and supporting those with substance issues. Hopefully I make the grade and can turn it into something meaningful. 24 years in the Army and I’d rather use my skills and knowledge to help others rather than make some douche in a suit richer.

@Drac they’re rare outside of gyms to be fair. But here’s a couple of examples and you can see why someone who has no idea might get twitchy.

@zilog6128 you can thank the crossfit cults for that bollocks. I’ve seen them wearing full-on MOLLE plate carriers designed just for training in the ‘box’. And don’t get me started on the ones who wear veteran clothing brands having never served a day in their lives. Uber-walts.

Cancel that, can’s sleep so went to potter about, here it is, the only thing I’ll put in tomorrow is my Loose Riders bottle opener. But other than that it’s done.

Peli 1550 (cheers QM’s) – Single sheet of Sealey Easy Peel Linky – some plywood – black sticky vinyl. Job jobbed.

I’ve looked at the smaller niche brands, thing is I keep my bikes for a while and I don’t want to take the risk on one, they go belly up and I can’t get spares, or they simply stop machining the parts as they make new bikes.

I want carbon, I want a known brand and it’s between these three, well teo. The Yeti is out. Read some absolute howlers about them tonight.

@submarined that’s why I’m building from a frame. Better spec for the same or less price. The Spesh is definitely pushing to the top, especially after seeing the finish on the frame option.

@drnosh, that’s the Sealey easy-peel foam, Shadowfoam do something similar, makes the job so much easier.

Here’s my work in progress. Got the pliers, cutters to fit in the second tray. Then do the lid insert with magnetic tool strips. I have this which is mostly for working on the bike in the cellar.

I have a small travel kit of odds and odds that works for out the back of the car. My carry on the bike is and EDC and the rest fits in my evoc fanny pack.

My sister is a ridiculous royalist, she also works for the DM. It’s been rather interesting watching her intial love for these to evolve I to the DM line of dislike, for absolutely no reason. The mind baffles, but she has become way more self-involved and absorbed of late. I absolutely blame that paper, the people she works with and the honking culture I imagine it has.

Quite a few years back when I took a break from reality shall we say, they were absolutely professional when they arrested me. Dealt with me fairly, professionally and looked after me in custody until I could be placed somewhere more appropriate. Since that darker period I’ve had a few professional interactions with them and again, nothing but professional. I have a few former colleagues now in the police, they are top drawer people and are having good second careers.

Huge respect for the job they choose to do and the work they do to keep people safe. Their resource constraints border on criminal.

@Edukator, it’s been a while since i’ve been in country, they still zero tolerance on D and D?

It is, I’m happy with it, I like the bumper options, the LMB kit has under body lighting on the sides as well. I prefer this, but to each their own.

@merak Shadowfoam have got a new peelable foam that I’d highly recommend. Leaves really clean lines.

Fairly quick installation, few routing issue that I’m not happy with so I’ll probably partly disassemble to get it really neat.

@daffy @tomhoward very jealous of those two models. Had a look at the Batmobile in the Lego store Leeds. I have a force awakens Millennium Falcon, but would love to swap that for the new, massive one. Cannot wait to get my hands on the Technic defender, it’s a present from the good lady so have to wait until my ‘retirement’ date. 15 days and counting!

    @cougar
, lookin at some on amazon, unless people have a solid recommendation?

    For any veterans in here:
    Combat Stress Helpline: +448001381619

Spoke to a lovely lady on Christmas Day when my anxiety was peaking, think some stuff is making a reappearance, sorted me out with a referral for help in very short order.

Not so much surviving the missus family, they’re lovely, my anxiety decided to kick in full force on Monday and has been smashing me to pieces since, ended up calling the Combat Stress helpline today to get some help.

I’m not in a good place and feel terrible for being this way over Christmas. So hard trying to keep smiling on the outside.

Most people in this forum don’t ride, they just own a bike and hate their lives. It’s why they live in the chat forum so much.

My old stomping ground, Corfe Castle was home for a long time. That time of year some of the routes up on east and west hill might be a bit crappy in the way of views if the weather is poor, but tops are grass and the climbs and descents although chalky are also full of stones/gravel so grip shouldn’t be and issue. . There is a route from Studland in the new MBUK btw.

Or just up, along the top and down into Corfe. Greyhound is the better pub there, Bankes can be a bit hit and miss.

You could venture up the road to Wareham forests some good trails there but can also get a bit waterlogged.

Whatever you do, it’ll be sloppy and fun. But the views up on the hills are absolutely worth it.

I used to dread this time of year, now because of some amazing humans much less so. So all of you in the thick of it, you have my empathy and sympathy.

As I’m tied to my phone over Christmas for one reason or another, feel free to PM if you feel the need. I’m on Twitter and Insta as ‘Reluctantcivi’.

Stay safe and be kind to yourselves, you’re not alone.

CX is for people who are shit roadies but too wet to try MTB. Enduro is where mediocre DHers go to die. Roadies are belters.

I managed 24 years with 5 deployments including iraq and Afghanistan outside the wire and didn’t die.

Such a miserable and cynical point to pick.

I’d push back and wait for the FAA, aviation is far better with greater opportunities to see the world and for future employment.

I meant in regard to all the bluster in the press. Old Corbyn was hammered by the media at every turn, whereas Boris seemed to have got off very lightly. But both their public indiscretions are out there for all to see.

The public clearly preferred one over the other. So maybe next go around, find someone a little less of a target.

@kiksy I saw many people change, red to blue and one thing that stood out for me was opposition to the activism and divisive politics, a lot of my former colleagues who have been red their entire lives hated the activism of Momentum and the questionable loyalties of JC. No doubt a lot of the stuff about him was made up, but even the stuff he’s on record with isn’t a good look for a potential PM.

Appreciate BoJo is questionable, racist some might say, but clearly the people are okay with that and not someone who may be an anti-semite and sympathetic towards over paramilitary organizations. I certainly do not expect perfect, but they can and must do better. Also anything that gets Owen Jones away from my TV screen the better, and that Sarkar idiot can go leap too.

It feels a little like this GE was the point to which Momentum and their dangerous identity politics game of division came utterly crashing down around their heads, problem is they’re so arrogant and deluded they can’t reflect on that and have taken to continuing to insult the voting populace, seems they like to partake in political self-harming.
