Should be using a short cage mech on a 1 x 9 set up anyway

    not all people do

just out of interest why is it balls? what ‘should’ I be doing?

doesn’t take into account mech length.

the old rubish add two links rule what a load of balls

Best and most trusted 1×9 chain length calculator I’ve used is –

    Shift the bike into 1st.
    Remove shock spring/air from shock.
    Compress the suspension.
Fit the chain, add or remove links until the mech is almost at full stretch.

If its 1×9 on a hardtail then

    Shift the bike into 1st.
Fit the chain, add or remove links until the mech is almost at full stretch.

    job done.

been using this method for 10 years

you will find if you “guess” the chian length the chain maybe too short this will have a massive effect on suspension action. the chain may stop the bike getting full travel. leading to snapped chains or at worse ripped off mech hangers from frames. too slack and the chain will flap around all over the place

On my old turner the grease port became damaged. I ended up taking it out and tapping a thread. I then used a grub screw to plug the hole. everytime I wanted to add more grease I took out the grub screw, added grease, replaced the grub screw.

rule of thumb is you should bottom out at least once on the trail that way you know you’re getting full travel on the bike

it was so much better years ago when there were trees on handy andy, Granada and joyrider.
The final decent is a must. Everytime I ride Whites always ride back up and do that instead of doing darkside.
It would be amazing if there was a group of volunteers getting together to add singletrack between the existing sections of singletrack

The majority of grand canyon is open you do miss the rocky section and the rest afterwards. which imho is the best bit.

Thought it was closed right now.

all open apart form a small section of Grand Canyon that has had some serious groundwork. the deversion puts you back on the fireroad just before the best bit of the Canyon where the rockgarden is

Ride that shortcut quiet often from On The Edge to Handy Andy. Its dead easy to find and also dead east to get lost if you don’t know your way, there are so many fireroads in that area that all look the same.

here’s a link to google maps.
    http://g.co/maps/pkg7j

A is where On The Edge Finishes.
B follow the fireroad to B
C is where Handy Andy starts

    Hope that helps

can you buy a shock with a slightly longer i-2-i? wouldn’t that have the same effect?

I felt very pissed off! it was dark and the headlights caught the sight of the closed green fc gate as we turned the corner. panic set in. I ran to the gate to confirm my fears that yes the gate was locked! with no way around the gate both sides deep in tree’s. drove around the forest about 45mins finding a few dead ends. we did find our way out eventually with the help of google maps and forestry security guarding logging equipment but not before getting a massive bollocking and threating to call the police.
wont be doing that again in the hurry.
didn’t catch who it was but it was a bunch of 3 guys on a night ride.

riding with a leatt and non full face’ers can cause serious injury if you fall off. saxon rider I guess you don’t know how neck braces work they don’t support your neck
I had to do a double take and sure enough it was a leatt. Id forgive him if he was riding a fixie

all comes down to maintenance, why do people complain that they spend £700 on a fork then 6 months later complain that the ano has worn off the legs? when they haven’t even bothered to read the manual and follow simple maintenance procedure.

fox and rock shox forks are just as easy as each other to look after.

no high rollers are not dry hardpack tyres they are intermediate loose tyres

minion – Hardpack, loose-over-hardpack and medium soil. use in the summer when riding the alps and uk dh courses that have alot of hard pack with loose gravel or trails with loose dry soil or loam

high roller – Hard pack and medium terrain downhill tire good in loose and wet conditions – if its the summer and its rained the ground is hardpack and wet but not muddy or the soil is loose and wet again not mud

why are people even suggesting minions in the wet? baffling high rollers are a dry hardpack tyre

heat gun to soften the glue under the vinyl and a plastic scraper i.e. old bank card.
work on a little bit at a time and slowly.

then use some ipa to clean off the glue residue this wont damage the paint on the van/car
