Would you be sticking a small pump up there, or an emergency sausage roll?

I got the Bryton Rider 35 about a year ago to replace my 205 with a cracked screen.
I’d just done the surprisingly easy repair to cure the shake/off problem on the 205. You just have to solder a couple of fine wires from the battery to the circuit board. The problem is caused by a dodgy connector between them. http://blog.mtbguru.com/2008/11/06/surgery-on-the-garmin-edge-305/
I find the BrytonBridge interface software really awkward to use, and wish I’d gone for another Garmin. The gadget itself is OK, but there’s been a lot of firmware upgrades to it.
Friends seem to use Endomondo, or Strava, or some of the other many phone apps.
One guy uses a £25 maplin gps tracker to record tracks, but it also bluetooths to his phone so that the phone battery isn’t drained by powering the gps receiver.
Sorry for the long reply, hope it helps.

You can import GPX files into “WheresThePath”, and it shows the route on both OS Maps and google earth photo at the same time. I think they have a limit to the number of OS maps they can reproduce in a day, so it’s better earlier in the day before the limit is used up.

Me and the wife stayed at a loverly place called Maes-y-Neuadd. Bit posh and expensive but it was our wedding anniversary. Don’t think they’ve got a spa, but location and meals were great. It’s a bit tucked away, but not too far from CYB, Harlech, Port Merion.

Stayed at the Royal Ship Hotel at Dollgellau with lads from work. Hotel was OK, village is good, and near to CYB.

I enjoyed the Tim Moore – French Revoloutions book too.

I’ve just read Mark Cavendish’s book, great read.

I’ve heard that Dave Millars book is good, so I’ll be looking for that one next.
    They’re all roadies though.

Thanks for the tips, I think all the parts are there just not long enough to reach the valve stem. I ended up putting a small stone on the valve stem so that the adapter would reach enough to press it down.
I’ll see what Lezyne say in the morning.
    Thanks again.

Loved it. How did you get that seagull to swoop across as the boat was going past?
Have you thought of sending it to XXCmag.com? It’s just their cup of tea.

Great light. I haven’t seen those chips before.
What driver/battery pack are you using?
Looks like a nice fit for a Hammond case.

I’m going to get a pair of Panaracer Fire XC Pro’s from Merlin. Kevlar bead, good tread, 2.1″, and fairly light, about 560g I think, and I also think they’re the superior Japanese versions. Er… I’m not a troll, just got worn out slicks and want some knobblies for the snow.
Seem to be £23.75 each when you buy two. For some reason the price is cheaper in the checkout box.

Hi there, I’d like to build a couple of these lights with my son. I’ve read through the thread as best I can, and I think I’ve got my shopping list down to the following:-
    Toutie
    4 regina reflectors
    4 XPG R5 20mm Star LEDS
    2 ally angles
2 ally slugs for driver to endplate
    2 welding glass lenses

    BlackCat
    2 1A drivers
    2 switches, boots and resistors

Is that about right? Would I be able to get the Bastid connectors from Deal Extreme or Geoman?

Great thread, I’ve really enjoyed following it, or trying to.

Hi there, I’m also interested in building two.

If there’s no bits left, where would I get them from?

I noticed that Troutie might not have any 20mm star XPG’s left after reading about his “1800 lumen Regina batteries inc” on MTBR.

Thanks in advance for any help, and apologies for not ordering sooner.

ChiefP, you beat me to it.
The first 4 issues are free download, and I think you can preview the others.
Issue 9 has the excellent write-up about the Transwales.

I’ve just been reading about the TransWales in XXC magazine issue 9, by a bloke who came 17th.

\anorak on. I think it’s worthwhile looking for the word “vacuum” somewhere on the labelling before you buy. These will keep the contents warmer for longer than the normally insulated ones.\\anorak off

It has some very good issues, and sometimnes just good issues. Photography usually great, interesting stories and opionions.
Always good to have a copy to take for a Loo Read, or have in the car when waiting to pick up your kids.
Used to always be able to get a copy from Borders, and it’s much cheaper to subscribe rom the states, just delivery seems a bit eratic.
I think you might be able to see an example of a digital issue on their subscriptions page, here. Don’t be put off by all the adverts at the front, you can easily skip those in the paper issue.

    Hi John, thanks for that.
I've never seen an e-mail address with spaces in, but most people seem to do it in the following format. Hope it's OK.

Hi Chew, thanks for that. I've got the map, but I want to put the GPX into my Garmin so I know where I am up to and where to turn when I am on the course. Also so I can have a look at the cross-sections so I can see what the gradients and heights are like.

Wow, just like me, I'm looking for a nice new pair of wheels for my Spesh Hardrock. I like the look of the 09 Crossrides from Merlin for £124.

I'm looking forward to "Ride the Divide" and "Race Across the Sky", both of which are going on my birthday present list.
Absolutely loved Evolve and Revoloution when they came out, not stricktly mountain bikes, but mountain bike trials, oh and Libor Karas, the bouncing Chzeck.

How much are you paying for the Recon? I'm considering spending £249ish for Reba SL at Merlin.

Just had a look at their website from the coed llandegla link and it seemed OK. There was this message at the bottom of todays news item:-

P.S. Apologies for those checking the website earlier and getting a 'Broken' version of our site. This was due to snowy gremlins in the system and something 'Ctrl, Alt, Del' seemed to sort out – Thankfully. ;-)

The Memory Map gadget looks interesting for about £200 from Tredz. You can get a bike mount for it, but I'm not sure how much the maps would cost you, or if it gives cycling data like speed.

Yeah, seen the trailer a few times. It seems very americanised teaserish, dramatic music and the promise of an exiting surprise ending, but even so, it still looks very good and motivating. I thought it might make a nice Christmas present for me from my wife.
I've posted my questions to the leadville 100 site, so I'll see what they say.
