vinnyeh is selling a Cougar 2 not a Croozer 2
(I believe):
http://www.varuste.net/en/tuotetiedot2.asp?_prodid=31261&nimi=Chariot+CTS+Cougar+2I’m after a single CT ultimately so I’m happy to give way to you re 1st dibs tonyd.
Go nuts innit 😉grazzer1Free MemberCrikey you’re a helpful bunch aren’t you!!!
Nice to hear that it’s possible to fit meaty bmx tyres on 20″ trailers. I had wondered if there would be sufficient clearance.
twiglet_monster: It’s interesting that you say the burley doesn’t have suspension. Perhaps the elastomers are affected by the [cold] temperature? If the elastomers fitted on the burley are anything like the elastomers fitted on sus forks used in the late 90’s, they’ll start to soften up when the weather gets a bit warmer.
There really is a lot to consider isn’t there. I seem to remember that researching travel systems last year presented a similar headache. Still better that I have the headache than my daughter!
Travis: Good safety standards knowledge!
Mantastic: YGM 🙂
http://www.tout-terrain.de/cms/front_content.php?idcatart=24&start=2 Wow!
grazzer1Free MemberCheers Vinnyeh.
Although I must say there’s no hurry.
Please don’t put yourself out to get me the info tomorrow…or this month for that matter.
I’m not likely to be in a position to buy a trailer until March + I’m going to look into the amazon jobby a bit more before I make a decision.
Thanks for the offer though.I can imagine the CX attracting the interest of the chelsea tractor brigade [shakes head].
grazzer1Free MemberHi All,
Thank you for your contributions. The suspension issue is a tricky one. I had however resolved (in my mind) that I want suspension*. This situation has not changed.
Vinnyeh: If you do decide to sell your CC2, perhaps you could drop me a line with pics/condition (Emeither in Profile).
…in other news, I spotted this last night:
…could it be too good to be true?!
*I’ve sat on the floor in the back of too many uplift vans to know that mitigating bumps with just your backside is hardwork. I appreciate that a steel framed trailer running low pressure will certainly take the edge off of any bumps, but I could do without the the drag caused by low pressure tyres tbh!
grazzer1Free MemberOne day I was in Inverness wearing my Howies T and some guy asked me if I worked for Howies restaurant.
Ya de ya de Ya….Obviously I wasn’t but he went on to tell me how good the Edinburgh restauarant is.grazzer1Free MemberBigJohn is surely on the wind up!!!
…if not you've hit the jackpot FallOutBoygrazzer1Free MemberThis is a pretty good deal:
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/acer-aspire-5741a-core-i3-3-yr-warr/754811grazzer1Free MemberI run 170mm square taper middleburns on my DJ bike. I've snapped a Shimano UN72 and UN 52 SqT axle coming up short on jumps…not ideal. Both times the inside face of my middleburns was slightly damaged. Fortunately, Middleburn replaced them for free.
I have since bought a Raceface Taperlock BB 2nd hand which is more than capable because it has a chromoly axle.
If you can pick one up then you'll be sorted. I have a spare one up for grabs, but it's got a 110mm axle.
…in other news, I spent a season in the alps riding ISIS Middleburns on my DH bike. No problems at all with the interface + you can pick up ISIS BB's for nowt at the moment. The only issue is that bearings will die a lot quicker than most other systems.I find 165mm a little short but I'm 6ft 4"!. If you're used to it though, go for it.
£130 still seems a little steep for old tech. I'm sure that CRC were welling them for £85 a few months back. Go 2nd hand if you can.grazzer1Free MemberYes that's probably it pealy. A lot of Acer parts used in the Advents, so they certainly have the pedigree (inside). The next cheapest i5 processor (in PC World) was a Toshiba L650-12Q. £550…in the clearance section.
If you can't get hold of an advent, then I'd definately be looking to get something with an i3 processor if I were you. Failing that then go for Core 2 Duo (not to be confused with Dual Core).
NB 2GB ram is probably all you need.
grazzer1Free MemberI spotted a decent spec Advent in PC World (Hedge End) the other day.
Core i5, 4GB ram, 500GB hard drive….£390!!!!
Not the sexiest lappy, but certainly capable.grazzer1Free MemberDT78
Gravity info:
http://dirt.mpora.com/news/gravity-project-overspill-photos.htmlgrazzer1Free MemberYou're right, Southampton is as flat as a witches mammary. We make do though. Winchester, Aston Hill, IOW, Petersfield, Rogate, UK Bike Park, Swinley, Gravity are all a doable in a day.
Move to bassett, Chandlers Ford or chilworth if you can afford it. It'll be a nice commute for your missus in the summer (through lordswood).
Shirley, Lordshill and Maybush are a bit rough in places…but mostly okay. Millbrook is a big no no.
grazzer1Free Member'Kylie friday' is soo last year.
'Rachel Riley Friday' is where it's at these days!grazzer1Free MemberI studied for my TEFL at the 'Windsor' school in madrid for a month in 2004 (Opposite 'El Corte Ingles'). I'm not sure if it's still there. Resources were limited, but the tutors were very professional. They also let me lock my DMR up in the classroom!
Quite a large percentage of the course was spent studying English language…a definate plus if you're a bit rusty on your grammar. At the end of the course our tutors forwarded our details to prospective employees around the world. I got a few offers from Dubai and china but that was it…probably because I only got a B+ result (which seemed to be the class average). The offers were good though. 2K per month + accomodation and transport.
I seem to remember that 'Trinity' were a highly regarded TEFL school back in 2004.
What ever you do, be prepared to put in 13 hour days if you go for an intensive course!
Hope this helpsgrazzer1Free MemberNice one Sanny.
Re:PS The more of a success the event is, the more likely I am to be able to do more screenings in Southampton so every ticket sold counts!
An 'Earthed evening' would be ace 😉

Level apart the pads with a flat bladed screw driver.
If the piston is stuck and you can't get the pads out then it gets a bit tricky. Try dropping some dot fluid behind the pads. The idea here is that the dot fluid will effectively lube up the piston seals.
I done this on a pair of Juicy 7's last week, and it freed the pistons up in an hour. New pads in, quick bleed, sorted.grazzer1Free MemberGene Hackman's beating in Eureka. Failing that does 'Two girls and a cup' qualify?
grazzer1Free MemberThe north london derby is always a score draw…well apart from last time when the gooners got a last minute winner. Lucky bar stewards!
there's gonna be some great football whatever the score is. I can't wait.
…on a simiar note I found an old chaz and dave cd in my draw at work. It's a sign.
Come on you spurs!grazzer1Free MemberHey Rich,
I know it must be hard for you at the moment. This time last year I actually preferred running to cycling. In addition to the expenditure issues that you identified, running gives you the same buzz as cycling, racing is waaaaay cheaper and you don't have to go through the same preparatory faff. My advice would be to stick to the xc running though. In the 6 months that I was running on the roads, I ended up putting an awful lot of wear on my knee cartilage. I can't run more than half a mile now…so it's back to bikes for me.
You'll be back…perhaps with 26" wheels next time so I can keep up with you!!! 😉grazzer1Free MemberI used to commute 3.5 miles in my work clothes.
I found that a pair of wellies, some £60 berghaus over-trousers and a goretex jacket sorted me out on a wet day.
The soles on my wellies were really grippy on my wellgo V12 copies…an added bonus.grazzer1Free MemberHi Richard,
'The Doors' bar is worth a laugh. Most of the bar staff are bike couriers in their spare time (fixed wheel super niche roadies). They always had courier vids playing on the big screen when I went in there.
It was a shame that they were up their own @rses. Perhaps I caught them on a bad day…maybe they had cut their carbon handlebars down too much (if that's possible!).Hire a pedello! It's hilarious trying to navigate around the one way canal system!

Brand X xc work bike (pimped discreetly)grazzer1Free MemberThe red one had cable guides on the top (offset to the right). I had to saw the middle guide off as I kept catching my knee on it.
The cable guides are tucked under the top tube on the blue one. MUCH better if you tend to tuck in close to the frame when you ride downhill.

grazzer1Free MemberAmbulances officers confirmed Jacko’s death. They said he was blowing bubbles at the time of his death, the monkey is reportedly in a stable condition.
grazzer1Free MemberRumour has it that MJ’s dying wish was to have his ashes put into an etch-o-sketch. He hoped that this way kids could continue to fiddle with his knob long after his death.
grazzer1Free MemberHi Nick,
Thanks for the information.
I found out that they had been flattened on sunday.
I have to say my first reaction was actually one of relief.
It was getting dangerous up there and it was becoming increasingly hard to manage the safety of everyone as the number of users increased.
This fact wasn’t helped by the MX riders forcing us to double up all the rollers.
So there it is…a blank canvas for the next LW jump spot custodian.
I hope that whoever builds there in coming months/years appreciates that every single jump and berm was built using dirt.
Onto my next (secret) project…grazzer1Free MemberGive big al a call innit…or the bloke from the yellow pages advert from the early 90s. I hear he’s branched out from touching up coffee tables.
grazzer1Free MemberI’ve just been using an itrip griffin/120gb classic on a recent roadtrip. Tuned it to 80.30 and drove from Glasgow-Oban-Skye-Inverness. No problems. Worth a punt at 15 squids (amazon).
grazzer1Free MemberNick,
I guess the answer re whether we should re-build it depends on how accessible the area is to MX riders since the diggers have been in. The main reason that I’ve put so much time and effort into building the track over the years is because I knew that accessibility issues meant that MX bikes wouldn’t ride there.
How open is the site and more importantly what is the access like at the bottom?
If it’s still a mucky, steep entry then I say go with the similar line to the original. Best bits include, 90 degree dug in berms, step down into small transfer jump, jumps at bottom.
I don’t like the sound of wood. It attracts less than favourable attention of the FC, and simply doesn’t ride as well as good old dirt.
Jumps shouldn’t be made using logs either. It reduces the ‘tweaking’ options.I’m happy to take the lead on the build.
grazzer1Free Memberperfect choice.
Little known fact: Chris Cornell (Soundgarden/Audioslave) rides a Bullit.grazzer1Free MemberHusky if you’re felling trees, Stilh top hand if you’re dismantling a tree on a rope.
grazzer1Free MemberI’ve done the SCCC twice now. There’s normally a few people that use road bikes. I’d estimate that it’s around 70% road based. If it’s wet, take your xc bike as parts of the ride are chalky. It’s not technically challenging so see how you feel on the day.
If you’re lucky with the ferrys and you don’t stop in a pub you can do it in around 7-8 hours. Tell the missus 10 hours. Under promise – over deliver 😉
