I can not believe that the bush administation had enough competance or even luck to pull off such a feat bearing in mind the amount uncontrolled variables involved, not to mention the amount of witnesses that could have recorded some substantial evidence.

That said, I could except that following the TT attacks they shot down 93 and/or 77 & threw a rocket into the pentagon to try and cover up them shooting down their own civilian aircraft. That afterall would make some kind of twisted logic. Not saying thats what I think but out of all conspriracies thats the only one I could understand them trying to pull off

Cheers for the back up Moe, as said I mentioned the Pyg track not knowing it was a footpath and never made any reference to wanting or intending to ride after being given the facts.

Zokes Fukwit it helps when you actually read a post before slagging people off. Your point though was probably valid but i'm afaid I stopped reading it after it became clear you were a bellend.

Mr T i'll get some pic tonight for you. I've built it up as a touring MTB but basically wanted to be able to ride anything that isn't big drop off's

Woodchipper bars on 130mm stem with the hydraulic shifters. Dremel'd out the inside on the clamp area to fit the wider bars and then adjusted the levers all the way in and its a amazingly natural hand / braking position. Gives me full drop riding with 1 finger hydraulic braking and flick shifting.

Also the high head tube makes it amazingly easy to loft & jump so it handles techy / rocky climbing really well.

Got a pair of 2.25 nevegals on it and I could easily ride it as my main bike if I had to.

ps if you fancy having a go with the dual shifters theres some in the classified at the mo for £28 someones selling.

heres the link with descriptions to the map above. He finishes saying he's done the route the other way round.. up llanberis –> down Rhyd Ddu –> up rangers –> down Llanberis. Seemed to think this was a better option.

Would have been up 1st weekend but My bro's getting married that weekend the inconsiderate so and so

Yeh it been on my tick list for a while. Was thinking of this route to take it all in. 2 stops at the cafe can;t be a bad thing and after the ban we'd have all day to take it in so could be good one.

Anyone know if the pyg track is doable / worthwhile? Haven;t been up there in years but from memory after the 1st 100m or so I seem to remember it being pretty rolling. could be naff memory though!

Think its a just a change of outlook. A different side to biking and all that. After spending the season training and racing i'm loving getting out on the tourer. Just enjoying the riding at a pace that lets me take in the views i'm normally whizzing past makes all the difference

I like the sentiment of the above. Kinda rings true, I think Love is an emotion that can only truly be felt when shared and recipricated.

That said, sometimes I only have to look at footage of some of the mountain ranges to well up. That probably says alot about my psyche though

Just got in to the whole touring thing. Built up a Fargo with flared drops and doctored dual shift hydraulic breaks. Haven't touched any of my other bikes for nearly a month now.

I think it works well as is to be honest. I dabble in and out as and when I change my bikes around and on the whole its always been a massive success. Only been burnt once in all my time buying and selling so not to bad really.

I think if you try and make to many changes it will lose everything that is good about the classifieds. A feedback system id a good idea but as has been said before a simple leaving a positive note on the original add will do that.

Kinda makes sense, obvious differences with body mass etc but two atheletes with similar build are probably very similar were as a larger athelete might have more power to compensate for and being gained by his extra weight/muscle mass. Probably many variable affecting different athletes but bringing them all within a similar level

mmm could go wih a big ass shed I guess but would I not have the same ol stability issues, cracked slabs etc

If I were to go with raft slab how low can I get away with digging before distubing any important roots?
Can any roots be cut away at all or is a case of trying to disturb as little as possible?

I can trim overhanging stuff but not to much of an issue, the problems come with the various root structures and what kind of foundations / type of slab I can get away with

lol don't blame me. Blame the iphone 😉

Mmm did think about a lighter structure on a decent thickness concrete raft but security is the main issue with it being at the end of the garden.

Quality book by the son of Tenzing Norgay talking about growing up in the shadow of his Father's fame and his own subsequent success on Everest during the nightmare 96 season. Fantastic insight to a sherpa's life and a strong point of view of that 96 season from the Sherpa's shoes

Cheers Dan. A few pics below of said tree. Think I was being a bit optimistic about the size of the fella as its about 12" diameter.

    gravitysucks

I want to leave the boundaies in tact. Its concrete posts and fenced all the way round and to be honest I'm not even sure who owns the fences etc.
the garage will be wide enough (23 foot base) if I leave the fences in place so It'll only give me an extra foot if I went right up to the rear boundary so not really worth all the messing about to be honest.

NikJB – I figured I wouldn't need planning permission with it being solid walls so as long as I don't get giddy and make it 20' tall I should be cool.

Not totally sure what kind of tree it is that i'd be close to but the main trunk is about has a diameter of less than 6". I was hoping to be able to put the base about 6" from the base or as close as I can get it. Was inending on having a 6" foundation with maybe a 6" base on top of that to ensure its never cracked / disturbed by the tree….. or this overkill?

no not at all, just have a reasonable ability to assess the situation and take firm control at the right times and do the right thing.

Pretty much what I do. If a dog approaches I ensure i'm in between them and my child and if they push the matter i'll put my leg in between and push them away. I wouldn't kick a dog unless they acted aggresivly at which point I don't care what the owners think.

I know of a very small kid who can deal with the vast majority of stupid family pets very well by a simple command and hand out.

Notice you like the word majority… what happens when she meets a dog that won't take commands? Probably the same dog with a bad owner who let them run up in the 1st place.

I agree with you that some children and people could deal with dogs better when approached by a dog off the lead but should it really be their responsibility? If its your dog you conrol it, don't expect me or a 6 year old child to know how to deal with your dog.

My boy is petrified of dogs because of the number of time that we have encountered out of control "pets" while out and about.

Not surprised as it it seems his dad is too. Without wishing to get in a slanging match and I agree dogs shouldnt run up to kids but its kind of a fact of life in most parks and the vast majority of dogs will be perfectly fine when they run up to you or your kid.

Again, would you like me to gamble on whether the dog jumping up at my child is in the majority or not?

By the way. I am a dog lover and extremly comfortable with them, but i also respect what they can do

Yes, an unleashed dog who appoaches small children or any person is not under control

Again, sounds like it is coming from people who do not know dogs. There are some dogs that fall into this category, but it is not a rule by any stretch of the imagination. Dogs and kids have cohabited for generations and generations.

Actually I have been a dog owner for many years but I'm also Father of two small children so can see it from both sides. Children can be easily scared by a big bounding dog. If a dog comes up and gets close enough to sniff a face of a child its too close. You may think your in control but if its already in my childs personal space and scaring them I don't care if you think your in control or not. A controlled dog should not approach people, a dog running up to people and then being called back is not contolled. Unless you the owner think that you should control every situaion and decide when my child has had enough of being scared / terrorised.
I'm not saying that all dogs are bad, far from it; And yes it mostly the owners to blame. But in that split second when an unknown dog approaches my child I am not going to gamble on the safety of my family on the basis that you and he MAY be friendly.

Let your kids come near the nice doggy woggy, or even letting your kids run unsupervised in a restaurant or shop will earn them a slap from me, an unprovoked attack from you on my dog will earn you a visit to hospital, big man.

So you publically admit to thinking it justifiable to assault a small defenceless child for no reason but think it un just for a Father to protect his children from an uncontrolled dog. (Yes, an unleashed dog who appoaches small children or any person is not under control)
I think your mixing up who the "Big Man" is, although my assumption about who a complete cock is is probably correct

What van has it come out of?

Advertising it on somewhere like here will get you a better price, you'll have to register but it would be worth it.

    http://www.vwt4forum.co.uk/

Price wise if you didn;t know what it was worth i'd say put it up for £1000 – £1200ono and see what interest sparks but it'll be fairly rear so don;t think you'll struggle to sell it

So they processed your Thursday order and got it to you next day while at least 3 people on this thread still haven't had things processed since wednesday. This will be the last order I make with them. Success or being busy isn't an excuse for shite service.

    gravitysucks

Yep pretty slow. Not that impressed. They advertise saying instock items will be sent out sameday if ordered before 3pm.
Clearly not the case. I ordered some stuff Wed morning and over 48hours later they are still processing. Not expecting it to be sent before Monday now so will probably get it Wednesday… a week after ordering it.
    Poor, Poor, Poor.
If they're busy or can't stick to what they're advertising they should be changing their policy
