Cardboard bike box with a couple with a couple of slits vertically at the the top of the front facing side.
Poke a hole in back side adjacent to slits. 12″ piece of rope with a big knot in . poke through hole then make another big knot in the end.
Put bike in box, pass ropes under top tube then pull down the slits so the bike is suspended by the two ropes.

Cheap as chips to make, easy to pull in and out and will contain all you mud and dirt. Lay a towel in the bottom to soak up water drop off the frame when its truly dirty

BR710’s every time. shop around including europe for the best prices.
They are so close in weight I wouldn’t even look at carbon unless you just wanted to spend 2 or 3 times more on a rim and want to look flash.

Excellent series. Started watching it expecting it to be a drama so had no idea about the story, background at all. Mind was being blown every episode!!

The amount of issues with the prosecution, access by the local PD etc was insane.

I doubt he was guilty but the scarey thing is that there is likely a murderer walking around scott free and we know the original assault perpetrator went on to rape someone else. scary prognosis!

I personally think it was the cousin who did it. Brendans brother?
He and his friend were the first to point the finger at Avery stating they saw the girl going into Avery’s trailer. Clearly had a motive of some kind and there story and credibility was blown out of the water fairly quickly and then kind of ignored. They would have had access to and knew the property well enough to dump the car there. Killed the girl else where then dumped the car and ashes on the Avery property.

As far as the police planting evidence goes I think when the car was first found by the PD the keys were still in the ignition and taken by PD. Blood evidence planted (that PD had access to) and then the key dropped in the bedroom at a later date when the local PD had access again. That is literally all the specific evidence against Avery in those 3 things and would have been easy to do…
    – take key
    – plant blood
    – drop key
I think the two local PD cops who were implicated could see there lives falling apart and saw an opportunity. I really hope new evidence comes to light or testing procedures developed that leave the truth 100% certain. ie the planting of blood.

For streaming alone I wouldn’t stick with it. I’m 3 weeks into the 1 month trial but will cancel at the end.
I have been able to smash through Man in the high castle, Mr Robot, and Bosch for free though so not all bad.

Wildcat and alpkit are both made in the UK.

How ever the alpkit barharness is far better than wildcats.

I’d have said the opposit after owning both. The alpkit was super stable but just to restrictive to how high it sits on the bar. After budging various things for a year to fit lights, ponies etc I’ve switched to the wildcat and never looked back.

    Back to the OP…
I’ve had both and have been happy with both. I never had the wobble that some complain of with the alpkit, was always super stable. I prefer the wildcat though. The ability to use different dry bags and just take the dry bag away to campsite instead of trying to balance your bike or empty it whilst laid on the floor.
The big bonus I like though is being able to reverse the dry bag so the roll top goes into the harness. That way in truly miserable and muddy conditions you bag opening is nice and clean so your not getting your stuff dirty whilst putting it in or out.

Picked one of these for £3 when I was at the physio yesterday. Got the strongest one they had and looks spot on. I’ve cut the handle off one end so I can do the wrap round the bars and under grip style and just hold the end with the handle to drag him along.
Weighs next to nothing and for the cost its worth it just to keep in the rucksack!

I’ve used this method a lot for my kids, just starting got use it less now that my youngest is 6 but it works well. I have a long cut sling that I loosely wrap around by handlebars. When he needs a tow I just unloop it so I have about 2-3m slack. The loose end then goes round his stem a couple of times then he grabs it around his grip. The pull is central through his stem but when he wants to let go the sling pulls loose and I can just wrap it up again, all done without stopping.

The sling then doubles as a rope swing, skipping rope, webbing strap for bike racks etc etc.

This sounds about spot on. He’s a lil hard nut so will smash most things but I don’t want him to associate trail centres with long horrible boring climbs. Like the idea of a sling that can be pulled out of a bag when and if its ever needed. We all have our off days after all.

Being able to fall back on something like this will open up a lot more opportunities for where we can ride.

We already do the push on back thing occasionally. He’s a determined lil one anyway so it would barely be used other than really long drags. Just don’t want to put him off or make him disheartened before the fun really starts!

Got a couple of BR710’s sat at home waiting to be built up. They’re replacing a pair or holy darryls but to be fair i’m 95kg and have put a hell of a lot of miles in them. rear is still fine but the front had caught a rock or two and wasn’t totally true. I’ve been happy with them to be fair.

Looking forward to getting the 710’s built up though!

The David Walliams book are very good. My girl (8yrs) is loving them at the moment. Think this generations Roald Dahl.

if she can’t reciprocate your feelings, then it’s not going to work.

This. We’ve had hard times for the last few years and I’ve literally tried everything within my power to make our relationship succeed but ultimately its been a one way street and I can’t fix things for the both of us. We made the decision to split a couple of months ago and since then I’ve remained at home to make the transition easier for the kids and her. Now at the point were as soon as a suitable house comes up to rent I’m out of there.
Good luck OP, hard times all round but keep positive and focus on the things you can fix, not the things you can’t.

how do you see past the ‘upset’ it would cause to the children?

For me it was the line were things impacted too much on the children. I love my kids dearly and would do anything for them. Initially this meant trying my hardest to keep the family together. Latterly after seeing the effect the family environment has on them I know we are all better off apart. Its not what I want, need or ever desired but the kids come first and even if she now begged me to stay I don’t think I could put the kids through the mill again on a gamble that will probably never pay off.
Time to move on and re build a life that is positive for the kids and one they can be proud of me for.

I started with the Alpkit stuff across the board and have been really happy with it but certain things niggled me on each of the products.
Have changed to the wildcat bar harness and seat holster which is a far superior system. None of the main brands are 100% waterproof and the wildcat system with different size dry bags dependent on your trip need is perfect.
I’m still using the alpkit framebags and top tube bags but it does annoy me how much water they let in. If I could find a waterproof option I’d be all over it.
May have to look at the beer babe bags which I think are waterproof. Don’t really like the innertube look but I think at this stage its excepting the limitations your willing to.

You don’t even need stop watches. Just have two syncronized watches, one at the bottom setting people off at 1 min intervals and one at the top marking each riders finish time.

Have a time sheet at each end with all riders on and there start time, a space for end time and a space for ride time. As long as the bloke at the bottom sets people off on time then the one at the top just has to write finish times on.

Its not a fine. Its a strongly worded invoice that is not enforceable.

I had one a few years ago when i put my reg no. in then realised when I went to put the ticket in the window that we were in the Mrs car. Didn’t think anything of it. Had an fine style invoice through which I decided to ignore due to the basis I had already paid the fee and would happily state that in court if it ever got to it.

They sent increasingly aggressive letters, threats, debt recovery letters, solicitors letters from 3 different parties that all looked like they were printed from the same printer and set out in exactly the same way (obviously all from the same people).

They eventually gave up and nothing ever came of it. I was happy to stand my ground though as I knew the law and had no moral concerns as I’d actually paid the relevant parking fee.

Mine does this with me when I head out with the dog. Only for about 200-300 meters though.
The funny thing is the cat hates the dog so doesn’t walk with us. He garden hops and appears at the next drive way then we walk past he bolts it over the next fence ready to appear at the next drive way!

To be fair, Dan. The OP has only had 4 days.

If it was me then on principal I wouldn’t post any pics. Why should he post pics to shut up a bunch of strangers on the internet who have essentially accused him of fabricating the whole thing.

Even if he did post pics I can guarantee that the naysayers will then moan about the damage isn’t that bad etc etc.

He posted a simple question. Answer the question or ignore the thread if you feel that aggrieved to the legitimacy of the whole thing FFS.

Gotta say I find it kind of pathetic that some feel the need to question the honesty of the OP. He started the thread with a simple question. Why some feel the need to accuse him of lying or making it up is beyond me.
When people start asking advice on what bike to get should we demand images of bank account details or piles of money to prove they can actually afford to buy one?

Anyway… OP I would also assumed the break it you buy it rule. In life there are people who are kind, generous and helpful and then there are selfish people who take advantage of them. You’ve just proved yourself the former and your colleague the latter. I think the word cockwomble was mentioned. Seems about as accurate as you can get. I feel your pain. Its an expensive lesson but a lesson never the less.

Went Ultegra long cage at the back, no problems so far at all (about 8 months use) and it serves as my road bike too with another wheelset and 11-28 cassette.

    SNAP!

Intending to do the same. Tubeless wheels for the gravel and a pair of skinnys for mixing with roadie types

Pretty much as I thought then.

    50/34 x 11-32 for a good touring / bikepacking range.

How do you find the road mechs hold up offroad?

My Exposure / SP hub is supposed to be good for 10,000 miles before service so keeping as a main shouldn’t be a problem.
They are staple choice for long distance riders so if they get people round the world, through the tour devide etc I think you’ll be just fine.

I have mine on my 29+ wheelset which is what I use most of the time anyways. If not riding those I’ll be riding the fat wheels which will be getting a dynamo thrown in as soon as cash allows!

What surprised me about the article was noticing that the incident took place on 1st May. Why the nearly 4 month delay between being assaulted and the story reaching the news?

I’d imagine that after months of nothing coming to fruition with he police investigation she threatened to release the video to social media unless the police did. The delay does seem bonkers considering how quickly get identified when something does go viral on social media.

Another bug bear is the fact that the tax you pay on benefit in kind is based on the retail value of the car new.

The fact that its a beaten 5 year old vectra seems irrelevant and your still paying tax based on a £19k car or whatever is is.

You may be starting to see my point of view of why I want shut of it…
