Cheers everyone, really positive stuff coming through.

Any advice on the financial side of things other than try to keep the CSA out of it?

I’ve no idea where to begin with maintenance etc. The govenments recommendations seem waaaayyy of the mark!
Obviously want to make things as easy as I can for them all but on the same note i’m walking away with absolutly nothing and i need to think about having a roof over my ahead and being able to provide for my kids myself.
Would be interested to see what people are paying, obviously through my email addy in profile rather than on the open forum.

Do you think its a good idea to keep things familiar??

Was thinking of just a few little things here and there like getting them the same bunk beds they have at home and maybe having a fair few family pictures around the flat so they can see pics of there Mum and us all as a family etc…

Cheers guys your all pretty much reaffirming what I already thought.
I was brought up in relationship split where my parents bitter, resentful and used me as a pawn so I know exactly how it is. It just means i’ll try even harder.

I’m still very local and fortunately because of the ex’s work patterns it will mean i’ll prob have them for a night or two in the week as well as weekend etc so i’ll still be involved with the school drop offs, reading homework etc which will be good.

I’m just hoping my ex can keep positive and put as much effort in as I’m willing to and it should work out well.
Its been a rough few years and i’m looking forward to being more positive, confident and happy for the kids. The kids are great and very loved but it can’t have been much fun for them the last few years.
Time to focus purely on them and build a stronger relationship with them.
Two happy homes are better than one unhappy one and all that!!

Yep had it done about 3 years ago. Done in docs surgery, not enough anesthetic and felt like he was tugging my lower intestines out before kicking me in the nads. Was a bit grim bit bearable.

Just for a bit of hindsight….. I don’t regret it but now realise when I had it done and never wanted anymore children what I actually meant was I didn’t want any more children with my currant partner.
Now realise that what I never imagined I’d want to do ever ever again I probably would if I was with the right person.
I’ll cross that bridge if I ever get to it though.
My mate had it as he never wanted kids. 5 years on he now does.
Another mate had it done. Swore he’d never remarry or have kids again….. He married, had a reversal op and is now expecting a lil one with his wife!
    So worth thinking ahead…

My all time favourite was sprayed on the side if a church.

A mahoooossive banner read “Jesus loves you”

Someone sprayed underneath in equally sized letters……

“everyone else think your a c@@t!!”

I’ve had a North Face one for about 6 years.
I’ve generally tret it like a dustbin bag. Its thrown about, dragged along, pulled up and down stairs, thrown from heights, hung from walls and generally been used as it should.

In 6 years I’ve never had one issue with it. Not so much as a loose thread on niggly zip. On that basis alone I won’t look anywhere else or try another brand.
It just works for what is been designed for.

    Yep. Guilty ya honour.

I never have the time. I always buy books when they catch my eye then normally crack the spine months of years later.
Started reading the David Millar bioast night so I’ll prob read it in 3 days then not pick up a book for another 18 months!!

Completely pathetic. I can’t believe shop workers would act like this when high street retailers are struggling.

Al et al – a 24 hour hour service is a guranteed service WITHIN 24 hours. If they’re done after 4 hours then they haven’t provided them with any premium service. They haven’t rushed the job, they haven’t done anything within an hour.
    Sending customers away is ludicrous.
I take it your stance would remain if he returned the next day after 22 hours. Would you expect him to be told to come back two hours later?

Jeez people need to wind there neck in and get off there high horse.
The op is not moaning. He’s just wondering about process and here seems a reasonable place to ask bearing in mind we have members who work in the industry.

Value is irrelevant. If was wearing a £10k watch would peoples reaction be different?
He’s already said he received great treatment and wants to piece together what happened.

wow how you guys sleep at night is beyond me.
Do you really get that wound up because when you walk 50m to the shop, someone else has had an oppurtunity to walk just 20m.

You must be either be lazy or have too much time on your hands. Either way killing time with a little walk will do you good.

His colleagues should be ashamed of themselves, not one of them did anything to help the guy.

My thoughts exactly. They would have all been carrying asps, one good strike would have sorted the problem out and there seemed ample oppurtunity as the dog seemed to nearly always attached to someone.

What amazes me was the reaction of the copper getting bitten. If it had been me i’d imagine i’d be kicking and swinging anything I could at it whilst it was on me.

Part of me really hopes you’ve been played.

You’ll go out to the garage to find your bike missing, queue panic, swearing and calls to the police and insurance companies.

When she gets home she’ll tell you about locking it down and pull it out of her wardrobe 😆

Reason being im his dad, and he does what his dad says, no questions no debates.

Thats going to be quite a spectacular fall from grace when you realise your children are just human & arn’t perfect.

She’ll realise its a lesson when she gets home and you tell her.
Until then she’ll likely be upset, distracted and shi77ing herself about telling you she’s lost it.
Hope she’s not learning anything important today.

So does that mean it’s okay to laugh at people dying but only if they are not black?

Not ok to laugh at anyone dying, although I don’t think its illegal.

Slightly astounded by some peoples prejudice views on this to be honest, are people that uptight about what others choose to wear when riding?
Theres some pretty big assumptions being made about people because they choose to wear a jersey for whatever reason.

Oh and for balance I don’t have or wear replica kit. I always wear my team kit but I have about 8 team jerseys / bibs etc and it would never occur to me to not wear it or buy something neutral to wear whilst training etc.

gravitysucks: can you not deadlock your car?

I can but it activates the alarm, which the kids then set of because of the internal sensors. Defening noise and tears commence.

and what was being done with two young kids int he car that warranted a police stop on the motorway – they usually try and avoid stops on the hard shoulder.

I don’t know i’ve never been stopped by the police.
The OP was a hypothetical question was it not?

so where were you when your daughter was climbing all round the inside of the car?

Absolutely, because this is the only other option when the original point has been so misunderstood.

If you insist that people wearing jerseys wear them for one reason then what other point would you like me to take?

So you don’t wear plain white clothes then?

People can buy team jerseys because they like the style / colour / fit or whatever. Do you honestly believe that everyone wearing a team kit ACTUALLY thinks they are amazing riders and actually on par with the pro’s and secretly annoyed because thet have to buy their kit?

In a nutshell, if you’re under 12, or ride for the team, it’s fair enough.

Awesome idea Andy. Thats sorted what to do for my lads 13th birthday. We’ll have a BBQ and bonfire in the back garden and burn every item of cycle clothing he has that’s not his current team / club.

I still don’t understand what the OP’s actual concerns were though?

My Daughter once popped her seatbelt, jumped into the front seat and opened the front door when we were parked at a farm because she was excited about getting an icecream (wind took the door and put a dent in the next car 👿 )

I wouldn’t like my son to have the same opputunity on the side of a motorway because he’s excited and wants to see the police car that daddy’s gone to sit in.

When looking after my children I like to remain in control of the situation.

So we finally have a UK sponsored bike team with lots of home grown riders who are out there in the world theatre representing our little island amongst the best european teams in the world……
and you think its sad that cyclists want to support them?

I take it all the naysayers dress in plain white clothes all of the time?

My 3 year old boy loves cycling. He has a matching team jersey I got him to match our team which he loves to wear out and about.
He’s also been watching Paris – Nice everday and is loving watching the sky riders even if he does ask me every day if Dowsey is riding (He met him at the tour of britain & madison championships).

He’s been inkling after a sky jersey for weeks now. I’d like to thank you all for highlightig the error of my ways and saving me from buying him one.
I’d hate for him to look stupid whilst smashing the run bike at the local pump track. Dear Lord, some narrow minded riders might even think he rides for Team Sky and start harrassing him for autographs. Thats just gonna mess with his riding time!!!

I think this is more a question of attitude than child safety. If you have the correct attitude when dealing with the police or any other member of society, then usually things will work out better for all parties.
    Example 1)
You shout at your SO “Where’s my effin Dinner?”, you’ll probably end up wearing it. If you whisper in their ear “What are we having tonight?”, you’ll probably get some dinner and maybe some special attention later.
    Example 2)
You you are driving along in your bubble and some one in authority asks you to step out of it you have two options. Get defensive/aggressive because of your “concern” for your kids when the real reason is that you resent the intrusion into your territory. Or hop out, have a polite chat and maybe get a ticking off.
    The choice is yours.

    or example 3)
polietly explain your safety concerns to the officer without being defensive / aggressive because you have no ulterior motive.

Feel free to provide more examples that labour a one sided & simple view.

I really don’t see what the issue is with leaving the kids in the car for a minute or two

Because kids are inquisitive and playful. At four years of age they can also very easily click a seat belt climb into the front and open a door. There’s no way on earth I’d leave them alone at the side of motorway with cars and hgv’s whizzing past at 70mph.
Yes it might be unlikely but I tend not to gamble with my children’s lives. Do you?
