    God keep it simple
Buy a camera body in your budget with the best metering system
Does it have a processor on it if so even better.
Buy pre set lenses if you really need them (not right now).
Buy a good zoom lens IE 28 to 140 focal length with the biggest F stop you can afford.

My day to day camera even photographing my Furniture I use a
Canon G11 Yep a Compact digital camera Laugh you may but I put these in Magazines
as long has I don’t go any bigger than 10*8 and MB wise 4 meg is all you need for
    quality publication.

The two pictures was shot in Manual metering in Natural light and I did override the flash and the
    camera was hand held too.
Also I have not used Aperture so no enhancement one bit.

I was told recently If you’re aiming to turn the wood green and you don’t have time to finish the job sticking the wood in the freezer. Not tried it yet to see what the effect is.

Kinda obvious as your freezing the water content in the timber

Received these instructions from Orange a few years back, changing the bearings on a Orange 5
Do make sure you use the correct size of bearing.

Fitting an Orange bearing pivot kit:

    Part No: P620SPA/P629SPA

    Removing the bearings and swingarm.

Tools needed: 3mm and 5mm allen keys
    Rubber mallet

    ? ? ? ?

Step 1: Using a 3mm allen key, remove the bearing caps to expose the bearings.
Step 2: Undo the bearing clamps, remove both blocks and replace the bolts.
Step 3: With the bolts slackened, and standing on the driveside of the bike, tap the swingarm away from you. When tapping the frame, ensure you use a rubber mallet and make contact only with the welds.
Step 4: With the swingarm moved across, tighten the bearing clamp on the driveside of the bike.

    ? ? ? ?

Step 5: From the non-driveside of the bike, tap the swingarm away from you, moving the driveside bearing off the pin. Depending how long the existing bearings have been in, you may need to hit the swingarm quite hard. This is not an issue providing you make contact only with the weld (as pictured in step 3 above).
Step 6: If steps 3 to 5 have not completely drawn the bearing off the pin, repeat the process. When complete, slacken the bearing clamp bolt and pop the bearing out. Reverse the process to remove the non-driveside bearing.
Step 7: If you need to remove the swingarm, slide it backwards so the pin passes through the gap. Depending on the fit, this may need tapping backwards with a mallet.
Step 8: To replace, tap the swingarm back onto the pin, again being careful only to hit the weld.

    Fitting the bearings

    ? ? ? ?

Step 1: Apply copper grease to the inside bearing race. Centre the bearing over the pin and inside the swingarm clamp.
Step 2: Add loctite to the bearing cap bolt and tighten the cap over the bearing, ensuring the bearing seats correctly as it is drawn onto the pin. Repeat the process on the other side and replace the clamp blocks.
Step 3: Centre the swingarm by looking at the distance between the inside of the bearing clamp and the downtube of the frame itself.
Step 4: Check the swingarm is centred by fitting a wheel and checking the shock mounts and rim are all in line. This measure is obviously dependant on the wheel being correctly dished.

its better get one good shot than many poor
Obviously, but it is better to take loads of poor pictures and learn from them quickly than take only a few poor pictures and learn slowly
I feel a bit quoted out of context here. Or maybe I didn’t explain myself. I don’t think I’m saying so much don’t press the shutter to often. I’m saying its better to get a few good shots out of the trip, rather than lots of mediocre ones

So may be take lots of variations on a theme with the intention of coming away one good one. Its quite a subtle thing. But when I see 15 shots of aunt mildred on flickr, all basically the same then thats not what i mean. For sure take 15. Post process the best coupple with a few variations on each. Then post or print the best one.

    I understood you completely 😉

    Great pics

Those Senseo ones use a poor liquid coffee capsule followed by a Condense milk capsule

Had tried both machines side by side and no
competition the Nespresso wins hands down.

I don’t know. I’m new to this turning malarky, and that was the advice given to me re: some trees I’d cut down into blocks for turning, Ski seems better informed!

Oh sorry just City & Guild trained in high end furniture for a total of 33 years
and including my own bespoke furniture company in the past 12 years.

Has soon as you bring in your turned piece into your central heated home
it will start to rapidly dry out and split to high heavens.

I also hand turn all my own wooden door handles if the client chooses.

If your naturally seasoning the timber its 1inch per year
regardless of length and width of material.

You will also need to place sticks between each piece of wood
you are drying out to allow air to circulate.

So as a rule of thumb

    1inch takes one year

    2inch takes two years etc
