Well, if you’re not paying a mortgage you’ve got the rent to pay which, for lower value property, aren’t going to differ too much?

Nobody said home ownership is a right but it should be realistically attainable for people otherwise a situation will develop where a minority own the majority of the property.

£19.5k could get you a nice holiday in LA or Klosters perhaps?

    yes! speedball was great!

talking of top down games – there was one for Atari where your character was like a little Rambo type guy and you took on all comers in a jungle setting. You could get into tanks and that sort of thing.

    May have been Akari Warriors?

Loved Paperboy on my mate’s commodore! That was state of the art!!

What was the game for the Atari where you were in a submarine? It was made by Psychosis but I can’t remember the name of it?

Edit – blood money – class!

Moving on, I got hooked on Oddworld for the original Playstation and Medal of Honour as well – very atmospheric

funny, I never heard of that one.

Any Weegies on here? In the early 90s I used to go to the Barras nearly ever Saturday morning – there was a team of shady lads who had loads of Atari and Amiga games copied in dodgy briefcases and a list of all the games typed up.

My Mum and Dad quite possibly have all these games in the loft 🙂

I also liked Kick Off – harder than sensible soccer but addictive nonetheless.

    Never got that into Lemmings.

Trying to remember others from that time – mind is going blank though!

Jack Nicklaus golf was good – had a primitive course designer as well so you could make your own courses

There was also a Karate game for Atari ST where your character changed colour of belt as the game progressed – used to kick timebombs away – can anyone remember what it was called?

You could also press the space bar and your opponents trousers would fall down

Was addicted to Centipede on the Atari Games Console in 1984/85 🙂

    Also, Keystone Cops and Pitfall.

Got an Atari ST in 1988. Too many favourites to mention but Buggy Boy, Double Dragon and Lombard RAC Rally got played to distraction as well as F-14 interceptor at the time of the first Gulf War 8)

    KT1973 – summed up perfectly.

Rudy Giuliani’s ‘cop on every corner’ is what is needed in problem areas. How do you pay for that though?

I would call that little stool ‘a poofy’ or ‘poofee’ don’t know how you spell it. Haven’t seen one for years – didn’t they go out of fashion in the 70s lol!

The scary tunnel at Falkirk can be quite, erm, scary.

It’s too big an ask IMO for people who aren’t fit, or bike fit. It would quite possibly put them off for life.

Better hiring bikes and going round blue or green routes at a trail centre if you ask me.

Isn’t Wimbledon one of the protected events? i.e. it has to remain on terrestrial.

Same as boat race, world cup and grand national?

had a fiesta 1.4tdci – will be same engine I expect as Fusion – best car I ever had.

Got it with 5k on the clock – got to 130k in five years with hardly anything going wrong then became a money pit so got rid but was sad to see it go.

don’t let 75bhp fool you – torquey as hell and 50mph easy driving around town in an uneconomical fashion.

    60-65mph on long runs easy.

Great car. Mega cheap main dealer servicing as well.

Boot space not much smaller than a focus.

Would buy one again in a flash

I thought they gave the commissioner and deputy commissioner a much harder time of it than the newscorp people, I thought they were downright rude and abrasive to Stevenson whereas it seemed they just allowed brooks to fob them off. They didn’t let the police do that, they laboured every question ❓

Poor wee soul. My daughter got it when she was 3 and we were camaping in France at the time.

She got it very bad but nothing compared to the danger your wee girl was in.

A good tip we got was to give them a lukewarm bath mixed with bicarbonate of soda which was meant to take the itching away. We tried it and it worked really well for our daughter. Don’t know if you’ve heard/tried that one yet?

Good to hear she’s on the mend though – that must have been terrible.

I think it would be good to pursue the issue – not for any retrospective finger-pointing reasons. As mf said, your daughter is out of the woods now – but it may prevent something similar or (god forbid) worse, happening to some other child in future.

    Enjoy the ice cream 🙂

there is also a path shown on the OS map that goes from Kilsyth Lennox golf club up towards Tomtain and should bring you out near the top of the Tak-ma-doon road however I can confirm that this path does not actually exist!

    grantus

there’s a guy on here called Sanny who knows the area very well.

My own experience is limited to getting lost on the descent off Meikle Bin trying to make it along the Kilsyth hills to Tomtain and the tak-ma-doon road.

It’s very flat and boggy up there although there is a path shown on the OS map that goes past a run down farm above Queenzieburn over the top past the head of the Birkenburn Reservoir and joins the Meikle Bin path. The path has been ‘made’ (can see it as a light colour from miles away snaking up the hill – hardcore maybe to allow vehicle access up to the reservoir perhaps?) in recent years and is apparently rideable but i’d have my doubts due to the steepness of it. When I last did it it was a really steep, grassy push to the top. At the top there are railway sleepers in the ground and snow poles to show you the way.

lol this was the first time i’ve tried to use it and it was pitiful!

Bought it down in the borders while mtb’ing a couple of months ago so no chance of taking it back but never had to use it up until getting a puncture on the way to work this morning. Luckily the puncture was 2 minutes from work or i’d still be out on the road trying to inflate a new tube!.

Went out at lunchtime and got a Lezyne with a flexi-hose – nae bother at all albeit 25 quid lighter in the wallet 🙁

aye, bummer unless I buy those mavic adaptors.

I’ve got a singlespeed mtb hub lying around which is for a 6-bolt disk so i’d probably be better getting that made into a 26″ wheel and sticking on of those velo solo cogs on it which would then let me have the fixed option.

    grantus

ideally have the option of a flip flop wheel so freewheel for cross/offroad and option of fixed use on road.

It’s a 1st generation inbred so no disk mounts on it – running V brakes.
