    Thanks all.
I have some trail trainers for summer, some more sturdy trainers for wet days and the Gelert boots so the collection has started already. :-)
The walks are countryside rather than mountainous.
I’ll give the gelerts another couple of goes to see how the feet are, if no better then time to spend.
Had a quick butchers in Go outdoors today and there were quite a few there by the looks of.

Looks good there wildc4rd, wondering why you didn’t use ply on the floor rather then the SB in the pics?

I remember your build thread footflaps, a few years ago now I guess….

OP, sorry to hear about everything.
Do you need any parts to get the old Cube up and running so you can get ‘out’ on the bike?

OP as others have said. I’d also say leave it as there will surely be others to add to the collection if they have only started driving but if you have to sort it out then a breakers for another one.

Do it yourself £164 for both parts – Finantial + Health & Welfare.
We’re unfortunately having to go down the Court of Protection route for a family member, going to cost circa £2.5-3K for Solicitor + Court Application fees, nigh on £400, plus this plus that…

What did you use to remove the cups?
I’ve always used copaslip and never had any issues removing the cups, with the proper tool!

    Spokeshirts are now https://spokeandsolace.com/

Terrible new name, but still lovely t shirts.

Cheers, didn’t know they had restarted. Not as many mtb designs as before but couple that I like.

    Lovely house 👍
It was was a few years ago but some friends of ours had a quirky small medieval town house which wasn’t getting much interest.
They put an add with couple of nice pics in the Sunday Times mag. Sold very soon after.

    Bit of an update….

So, fitted new airshaft taking care of not over greasing near the transfer port, new seals & foam rings, 5ml oil in each leg, tighten footnuts to 7nm
End result = no change, pump and it only goes to 60ish psi after a lot of pumps ie, a lot more pumps than it normally would be.
Wondered if air mught be leaking out of top air cap so swapped ut for another I had and no difference.

I’m now wondering if this might be something to do with the damper shaft? When I refitted the air shaft first time round I did push both the air shaft and damper shaft in a few times before fitting the lowers. Am I clutching at straws here….

Like I said at the start the forks worked perfectly before I touched them….

I’ve got the park one and it’s great to use much better than my old Cyclus press, but, not for angle sets…they twist, can’t be helped. So I use the gentle hammer and wooden block method for those.

Only had time to have a quick look at these today.
Removed the LH footnut and released the pressure from the valve, replaced and put around 60psi in and pumped the fork a few times and there was around 105mm of stanchion showing.
Pumped to around 100psi, around 115mm stanchion showing, forks seemed to be moving ok.
Removed the pump and the psi dropped to 50-60 and now not increasing when pumping….

Think I’m going to take the lowers off again and check things over.
Just need to know where the transfer port is so I can check for grease, any pointers please?

    Scienceofficer – Thanks, very helpful.

Davesport – I can’t remember the total amount of stanchion showing, just know I measured around 105mm Travel. The forks were working somoothly just short on travel so I assumed it had a shorter airshaft fitted so ordered the 120mm one and as I said they looked to have been well looked after.
It’s my first time working on forks so it’s something I have done I’m sure.

martinhutch – Thanks, didn’t realise there was another valve there I’ll have a try with that and check the link out cheers.

    EDIT

    Barn Paint

shows what colours are available too.

Anyone else have the handle snap on their park chain cleaner?
It snapped years ago and I did bugger all about it, re warranty as I couldn’t find the receipt.
It is a good chain cleaner for sure though and their chain cleaning fluid is the best I’ve used but very expensive so when that ran out I just used normal degreaser.

I mentioned the tools further up in the thread, there are copies on Ebay for £40odd but I do have a start nut setting tool so will have a look at that if I need to removed them cheers
What to use refitting the bearings if not the proper tools?
