Download the .org version is probably a good place to start.

We sell/support the enterprise version & head up the upstream community work. It’s good to see people using our products :)

Wish i could help you, but i work with the o/s & not middleware.

You said “32bit OS (or processor)”, not process ;)
Almost all recent “32-bit” cpu’s have PAE & most O/S’s support it.

There is hardware out there that is designed to only address 3GB because of limitations with Windows (and who would want to run anything but Windows ?). My T60P thinkpad has this “feature” & it’s really really annoying.

No 32bit OS (or processor) can use more than 4GB of RAM as this is the limit of memory addresses that can be written to with 32 bits.

Sorry, but that’s bolx. Physical Address Extension ;)

I’d eat it with pleasure. Probably not in one sitting though!

I guess it’d also take more that one “sitting” to get rid of the after effects :)

MrNutt you’re doing a great job of putting people off meat with that pic :)

Do people (apart from Merkins obviously) really eat stuff like that ???

OMITN, that sounds much like the symptoms i’ve had this winter, possibly a bit worse. Mine were better some days than others.

It took me 2 months to finally get around to going to the docs to get it checked.

Get yourself to the docs & have it checked out ! ;)

Thanks for the replies all of you, that’s exactly the sort of info i was looking for :)

I’ve been given the blue inhaler. The doctor didn’t mention different types.

If you can’t find an open proxy, look at running a server somewhere that allows you to use ssh tunnels. Easy to do with Linux & secure if you use key only authentication & strong keys, or skey. Works for me from my home adsl.

Other option, use something like get_iplayer to download the program & watch that.

Surfr, the 1st minicomputers i worked on in the early 80’s had the state of theregisters displayed on the front panel in led’s. You could program the system from front panel switches. They were just phasing out the 4KB magnetic memory cards in favour of 16KB DRAM. Disk drives were the size of a cabinet, 5MB fixed & 5MB removable with 18″ platters. Large drives were 50MB multi-platter affairs.

BTW, those of you wanting working wireless or suspend with Linux, you’re better off looking at Fedora. The upstream code is maintained by Red Hat employees :)

If their payment system doesn’t use SSL (it’s not an “https” url), don’t enter your credit card details. The site might be genuine, but traffic to that site will be visible by anyone who happens to be sniffing it. That’ll include your card details etc.

If you’re going to buy their product, phone them up with your cc details & tell them why you’re not using their online payment page.

Looks to me they’re just trying to be cheap & save the SSL signing cert costs.

I did the PYB Scottish Winter skills course a few years ago, & can totally recommend it.

Besides actually getting out there & doing the practice they spend the evenings covering the theory.

    A lot.

My after-school & weekends job when i was in my early teens (in the 1970’s when kids were allowed to do such work) was in a pet trade wholesale & importers. We used to get the common pets like hamsters, budgies etc in by the thousand. One of the less pleasant tasks i had to do was to clean out the massive tanks we used to keep them in. 500 hamsters create a lot of cr@p.

Waitrose do the Caol Ila 18 yo. If you like that try the Ardbeg 18 yo, that’s much nicer imo.

If you’re in London, there’s a Cadenheads shop next road east from Baker St that’s worth a visit if you’re looking for something better than what’s available in the supermarkets & offy. They sell some fine malts. (Cadenheads are an independent bottler).

Get yourself to a decent outdoor shop at a quiet time & try a few packs for size. Good shops will have weights that you can use to simulate the sort of load you’ll be looking at carrying.

If you’re in the West Sussex area, i’d recommend Peglars in Arundel.

    Very very sad news.

I too had the good fortune to see him play live a few times in the 70’s. He always seemed to have such a great bond with the audience, always trying to crack a joke, or loon about onstage. And nobody used the Echoplex like him.

Listening to Solid Air right now.

I’d leave aside the paprika, onions & ginger.

Cup of lentils, wash well, bring to boil in plenty of water, clean off the scum that’ll rise to the surface then add a good half teaspoon of tumeric. When the lentils are cooked add some salt & the tarka.

Given what you have there i’d use the following tarka …

Heat a small iron frying pan or saucepan & add a couple of tablespoons of oil. Test the oil heat with a few cumin seeds. When they sizzle, add a teaspoon & a half of cumin seeds. If the chillies are dried red ones, add those now. Fry until the cumin darkens. If the chillies are fresh green ones, add a couple of those with lengthwise slits in them now. (If you have any red chilli powder, half a teaspoon of that goes well here). After 30 secs or so, add 3 cloves of finely chopped garlic & fry until that lightly browns. Pour contents of pan onto lentils & cover for 5 mins.

DrJ, suppose you want to send some private data to someone by email. Unless you encrypt it, it’s going to be going across the wire in plain text, viewable by anyone.

Performance difference between recent USB & firewire is marginal. Using USB will give you extra flexibility if you want to connect your drive to other computers (how many non-apple laptops have firewire ?). If performance is an must-have, get a ESATA drive (most are now) & an ESATA card for your PC. That’ll outperform firewire & USB.

I had a Soda crack in the same place last year. Cy sorted it out on warranty with any hesitation.
The later Sodas have additional strengthening in that area apparently. Mine was one of the 1st batch.

I was vegan for 12 years (& veggie for 16 years before that). Went back to lacto-veggie last year only because i was going to do a trek in the Himalayas & the tour people reckoned they couldn’t guarantee a dairy free diet for the duration. The last thing i wanted on top of altitude sickness & Delhi belly was stomach issues caused by built up dairy intolerance, so i started eating small amounts of dairy. In the end, the trip got cancelled. I’m still eating small amounts of cheese & yoghurt only because i’m hoping to re-attempt a similar trip this year. After that i’ll go back to being vegan.

I too hate things like “vegan cheese” & imitation meat product. Yuk. Really can’t see the point in them.

Since starting eating dairy again, i’ve noticed an increase in phlegm, & a slight increase in weight. No noticeable decrease in fitness. Being vegan never stopped me from being reasonably fit. I usually manage the BHF SDW 100mile Randonnee in about 9Ω to 10 hours. Even when i eat meat i was never muscular – always tended to be skinny.

Like the others have said, i also have no issue with others who choose to eat meat. Who am i to tell anyone else what to do ?. Obviously i’d prefer if people eat only ethically raised animal products. I have no problems with compassionate animal farming. However, I do have issues with intensive farming of all types, & that includes cereals & vegetables.

I put quartered apple segments up in my trees. Blackcaps love them & won’t touch anything else, including when the segments drop to the floor.
