Here’s this weeks offering, I couldn’t get inside to take photo’s as they don’t open until 11am in the Winter. The history of this bunker starts way back in world war 2 as a starfish site confusing enemy bombers and undoubtedly saved many lives. In the 1950s Hack Green was converted into a nuclear bunker for early warning of missile attack and for post attack co-ordination and government. Also known as Mersey Radar it provided safe flight paths for military air traffic until the end of the cold war period. The history of the area goes much further back and there have been many conflicts from civil war skirmishes and Viking raids.

Thanks DBW! Nice to see someone else on here knows that one as well. That trail is what Alpine 160’s were built for. At the end of that we were just lying in the grass giggling like a bunch of kids . Many Happy Returns to come !

You will probably find more than enough to keep every one happy with the riding to be had in what’s known as the Verbier Bowl. I can’t make it this year, going to have to wait until 2012.

Derenaz with Phil & Jason.Long climb followed by a mental DH in the rain and fog/mist. Couldn’t see a lot(probably as well!)as my glasses were forever steaming up or covered in water droplets!Very nearly bailed on that one and was thinking about going back down on the fireroad, but Jase “persuaded” me that the rest was easier…Never been so glad to get down in one piece,oh, and the Bar was shut when we got to the bottom.

Met a couple out walking theirs in Delamere a couple of weeks ago,a nice friendly dog, very colourful coat to,but after we had finished making a fuss of him, the first thing he did was to turn around and have a quick bite on my mates rear tyre!
So although its of no help to you, sorry, yours doesn’t appear to be the only one with the habit.

Not GPS app as such, but I have a compass type one that will guide you back to your start point. I haven’t searched for one as I use a Garmin e-trex on the bike.I.

I’ve had mine just over 3 months, no trouble with it at all. Battery lasts a couple of days with about 2 hours a day on interweb,I would guess at about 36 hours from full to flat, depending on amount of use of course.Probably a couple of hours to charge up again.
Two spare batteries and a desktop charger were £13 of ebay, I just leave a spare battery at work, but have never needed it yet.A rubberised hard case and 6 screen protecters were about a fiver I think.
I would certainly have another one.
    HTH.
