By the way the bearings in the rear wheel aren’t seized, they are just sticky.

Also when we rode Dyfi weekend before last it undid, at that point he thought it may have been user error, ie not done up. But on the last ride it was definitely checked.

    Cheers for the replies.

The axle was with the bike from new. Its a Mondraker Foxy Carbon R. Ever since he’s had it (which isn’t that long) its never looked likes its done up tight enough, ie its seems to get to the end of the thread as opposed to actually tightening against the wheel, whether it should or not I don’t know.

Certainly after this happened and we put it back together (bodged single speed) to get home (well pickup from the pub), you could see the wheel turning the axle when you spun the wheel (due to the shot bearings).

VW T5 Kombi, worst vehicle I’ve ever had.

Avid Juicy 5 brakes, why make it so hard to replace the pads (or was it just me)?

Racing Ralph tyres, just didn’t suit my riding style.

Any Altura clothing, only seem to last a few weeks before stitching starts coming apart (however their bags are great).

Been using Endura Baa Baa ones for years and they are great. However got a pair of the £2.99 Merino ones from On-One a couple of weeks ago (just cause they were so cheap), can’t fault them, just a tad thinner than the Endura’s.

Never trusted strava times after my wife beat one of my times by 4secs even though she was on the back of the tandem. Run a Garmin 810 and wife runs a 610 (watch). Results never the same despite being on the same bike. Mate of mine rode on back of tandem too and he had his IPhone running Strava, again none of the segments where the same times for us both. That was on a road ride too so not alot of tree cover etc.

I’ve got both the MTR baggies (not exactly baggy, which is a good thing imo) and the bibs and they are great. Baggies also work without the MTR bibs too. Only problem I had with them is the labels in the bibs kept scratching my back, so I cut them out. Antislip waist band bit is a silver sharkskin like piece of material on the back of both shorts that kind of locks together.

They are my favourite shorts at the moment

Cheers for the replies. I need 145mm spacing so probaly gonna go for the JD Tandem ones. Can’t quite justify the Chris King ones although the DT Swiss ones look quite good (if I can find a rear one anywhere).

Thanks for that, might give JD Tandems own brand a go, works out quite a bit less than the Hopes when getting the wheelset.

Did anyone get some “helmet cam” of the good bits?

Got 2 laps with my mates HD Pro on my chest. Got me cocking the Redbull run up:

Sort the rest out soon and get it in HD. Doesn’t seem to want to upload in HD for some reason.

Definitely a yay. Treated ourselves to an immaculate but old Cannondale MT800 last year, its setup for the road and we’ve got loads of use out of it. Trying to convince the girlfriend to let me put some off road tyres on it and take it on some trails. Already upgraded the rear brake to a Hope V2, if she likes the trails then a new fork will be called for.

Where do you get the results from? Been checking the mud sweat and gears website, but to no avail.

1st time raced this series. Was a good event, really enjoyed it.
