So.. spring under detent ball works fine. However, removing o ring and grub screw does not make a jot of difference. Not sure what is going on at interface between hex key and bolt where a 2.5mm allen key works fine!

Sure does, full 3 turns with the allen key only. Haven’t a chance to try otsdr suggestion yet but will do.

From the ridge the trail goes off to the right before going round to the left and parallel to the ridge, and then you take a left fork hop over a small tree and its obvious from there…

Shite trail though nothing worth doing around there at all. Trails at Pedalaway are so much better 😯

Is it really graded Black? There is nothing too sketchy but its a bit rutted out at the moment. I did it a couple of weeks ago after Cafall. Just went up the fire road past the start of Cafall and stayed right until the start of Hideout. In no hurry to do it again.

For what its worth, yes i have run MM/NN combo for the same reason as you. It has been fine but the NN is fragile even in Double Defense mode for mostly Forest of Dean and Welsh trail centres. Since my frame is a few years old, i’ve now decided to put up with a bit of tyre buzz, tape the frame and go 2.35 Super Gravity. RR was great till it started raining again and now got HD to mount. So to answer your question, the 2.25 NN rear is not too outlandish with a MM on the front, but the 2.35 tyre is, so far so much better.

I’m supposed to be riding FoD today but am stuck in a hospital, so if all is well I’m keen to make up some riding time one eve next week, either Leigh Woods off piste or Belmont?

Not sure I know much more than the off piste by the picnic bench, the ones on the other plus the trail with the fallen log and rock hurdle are about as much as I do, otherwise have you tried Belmont woods?

Same issue here although diffent bike. I’m running 2.25 NN DDefence with a Magic Mary up front. Great combo. I had the old NN before and risked the new version and am happy!

I got the virb xe. It’s good but not been able to use the full functionality yet as the video edit app doesn’t work with iOS! So I’m now on the look out for a Mac – I guess most sensible people don’t just have iPads in the house.

I also have a Garmin watch which acts as a remote for the virb – so long as your not also using it to record your ride too!

PS: hope the reverb is still going strong.

Probably ought not admit this….. but I made it up to the top of the freeride section of Twrch and it is ****!! The free ride was badly maintained anyway, but they have felled lots of trees across it presumably to stop people like me riding it!

Beyond that, the trail has been used as access by the diggers and is totally churned up. Basically, needs rebuilding!

Interesting stuff about heat build being less through shim stack than constricted hole, and gas in the oil which I guess will be more of an issue at high pressures.

Coinincidentally, I did Helvellyn a couple of weeks ago and was worried about heat build up but had no issues at all.

I have to pump 250 psi into my shock which is more than 30% more than the stock rp2, and I’m 80kg… I put it down to high leverage ratio rather than pies 🙄

I had the same choice but different issue with my RP2 blowing through travel and small bump compliance.

Like said before, new shock will not be tuned for your bike and your riding style. I too went for a PUSH tune, Corset Air sleeve and a service! All of which have improved the shock.

The PUSH tune replaces the internals with components that allow more range of tuning in the first instance. I have had both my compression and rebound damping rejigged since the initial PUSH tune and there is a huge difference.

However I would have thought the piggy back reservoir on the Plus will address the heat issue that a custom tune cannot.

    Have you spoken to TF?

I changed from Formula brakes last year to Hope E4 Tech 3. They are great, well made and so far no problems. The modulation and adjustment are superb but I’d have to try other brakes to really appreciate them.
I appreciate how well made they are whereas other brakes are cheaper and just work. I was happy to pay a bit more.. I don’t don’t think the weight of my setup has changed significantly as I went down a rotor size to 180/160. They stop when I chuck the anchors out but also slow me down when I pull the lever lightly which I’d never experienced before. All in all a good buy but I am aware that other brakes are good too.

Yes on chainstays. There is 3mm difference in the OD of our rims,… I wonder if that that’s the answer!

What rim are you running that HD on Razorrazoo? And on what size frame out of interest?

I’m on a Medium and running Hope Enduro rims.

Check out the pic from the rear on the Pinkbike review

    http://www.pinkbike.com/news/lapierre-spicy-team-edition-review.html

You can see the how wide the seatstays are compared to the chainstays.. not sure why the comments on rub relate to the chainstay. I’ve taped my seatstays, adjusted my heel outwards and it’s now no problem.

The 2014 bike is specced with a 2.25 Hans Dampf on the rear, which I think is a Pacestar supplied with the bike but you can only get them in Trailstar OEM. I never got to the bottom of this so if anyone is any the wiser??

I did try a Rock Razor but it rubbed on the welds. People on here do run 2.35 no problem. However, the spicy is a carbon rear end so, you might get away with it. I now have a Nobby Nic on the back… Might try the Minion DHF next.

I have a Zesty with 160mm forks so effectively a Spicy. Non-EI too but I was steered away from the CCDB In-line and got my RP2 PUSHed and added a Vorsprung Corset Air Sleeve. And I have a set of Hope E4 callipers. Caliper space is not an issue but hydraulic line routing is not pretty, but it works.
Issues: I can’t fit a 2.35 tyre in the rear without chain stay rub and piggy back shock doesn’t fit.
Otherwise, it’s a great bike up and down hill!

Sorry to jump in but I’m thinking of ditching Schwalbe tyres. All this Minion and Shorty loving is based on a 2,3 width front tyre, which comes up nearer 2.25?

    I’ll keep you posted Razorrazoo.

A class winner at last weeks Cwmcarn Enduro used a stock RT3 Debonair shock. If I could get within a minute of his time, I’d be a happy man.

Of course the counter argument is, I’m sure his result would not be too different on my 3 year old RP2!

Nevertheless, I’m not convinced spending the extra money on a Cane Creek Inline will make me significantly quicker. (and apparently piggy back shocks don’t fit the lapierre AM normal size frame!)

Can’t believe your frame is still going strong Maxtorque!

    Thanks for your replies.

I’ve decided against the Inline as I don’t have the time to dial it in properly and I reckon the other less expensive options will be fine for me.

I’m really tempted to buy the Monarch RT3 Debonair. The 2015 model is available from ze Germans for £175 or £205 for the 2016 version.

But a custom tuned shock is also tempting too….

I live in Horfield too and am up for Sunday morning rides. I’m a bit time limited with, ie. kids but usually go to Cwmcarn but am up for different stuff. Up for W2 soon if anyone else is interested. I have just started road riding too 🙄

Many riders ask, “What is the difference between the Extreme, Absolute Dry, and the Gold?” The Extreme is for mountain bikes. Absolute Dry is for the road bikes. The Gold is for both mountain
and road bikes. Here’s why: bicycles, being on rubber tires, are not grounded, making the bicycle a static electricity machine. As the bicycle rolls along, positive charge build up will bring dirt and dust particles from the road onto the bike. The bike will discharge and do it all over again, bring up more dirt. Ever wonder why you have a perfect dust line on the front of your fork blades or on the cable housings. That’s how the bike gets dirty on the road, on dry days. The dirt is also going to stick to whatever is sticky on the bike. Of course, the chain is the number one spot. Road bikes generally
tend to pick up more dirt from the discharge, so a thicker, dryer membrane is needed. On the other hand, the mountain bike needs something that can take lots of dust, and/or muddy slop being kicked up on the chain from the front wheel. With water crossing, too!
The Gold, is the most recent addition to Rock “N” Roll Lubrication’s chain lube line-up. GOLD works on all bicycles, staying cleaner, and takes the smooth and quietness of pedaling and shifting to a whole new level. Nevertheless, the EXTREME and ABSOLUTE DRY are by far cleaner, smoother, and quieter than any other lubes on the market. The Gold costs a little bit more, but is in a class all by itself.”

Clearly not my words as I couldn’t make that guff up myself! I found it on the R&R website. Had I read this before trying I probably wouldn’t bother buying it. Not sure he has sold Gold in his summary as well as Extreme or Dry. However, the Extreme is great and I use it all year round, and I hope the Gold is at least as good.

Just bought some Gold myself for use in the dry. I’ve still got most of my bottle of Extreme left after a years use… it cost£6.95 back then! If only I knew then what I know now!!

I missed out yesterday too… trying to bump my sale above £99 only to find RF shim tabs out of stock and no fork juice or brake fluid cleaner!!

So does anyone have any other codes available please for over £99 spend?

    Thanks

Zesty 27.5 owner here. Cracking bike. Once I got over removing the invisiframe from my seatstay with my heel on the first ride… I have gotten used to it and no longer clip my heels. I think riding with flat pedals helps.

I did look at the Norco Range or Sight as an alternative, nice spec at nice price. Geometry looks good on paper but like everyone else says try before you buy..
