Sounds like the top section of the clamp needs spun round 180 degrees, try that and see what happens.

I can recommend Ashima SOS pads, No noise, less heat build up, good power etc. Just as they claim. Been using them in the front of my Shimano brakes on both my bikes for a couple of months now, very impressed.

You’re going to ask me which Hutch’s aren’t you?

If you insist! Its the Toros im looking at, just wondering wether to get an enduro 2.35 tubeless or go for the 2.15 tubeless ready. I can get 2.25 Maxxis in to both my bikes no problem and they are bigger than 2.35 maxxis.

Hmm having a look about and the durability/ finish on the Flux doesn’t seem to be very good!

    Hi Terry

You probably didn’t notice my Gravity dropper on Saturday when we passed, you had other things on your mind im sure! But it is fantastic, easily the best thing i have put on my bike in 20 years of mountain biking(after disc brakes). I never thought i would see the day that i would have one on my bike but now there is no going back. Made the descents on Saturday even faster and more fun 😆

Terry that sounds like it would have been Colin Olden, he is from our neck of the woods too. Alek was wearing a brown Fyrish top all day.

The rock sections at Learnie are pretty slippy even with the slightest bit of moisture. Golspie and Balblair shouldn’t give any problems if it is wet. Give us a shout if you want some company when you are up.

    Hi Ian

This might not be any use to you but i know that Square wheels in Strathpeffer have a classic 1″/ 3″ drop in stock(not sure of its length though). He had to order two when i wanted my one!

No problems here with SSC sintered on Deore brakes. Wearing at the same rate as every other Genuine Shimano pad that i use.

Yep i have recently had the same problem. Looks like you will need a fixing bolt unit, part number Y1-FB-98010 as per here and available from Petra cycles.

Odi Tomac grips – the mushroom pattern ones. Light, grippy, comfy – why don’t they make them any more?

Oh yes they do, i have them on all three of my bikes, best grips ever made imo.

Thorburn is your man when it comes to Maxxis ;o)

IME you will not beat a Minion up front and then you can put pretty much anything out back. Im getting on just fine with the 2.25 Crossmark on the rear, it also has a pretty big volume.

Im toying with the Evo pads as well at the moment but im getting drawn to the Poc pads for some reason, but at that price the Evos might be hard to resist!

I’ve only ridden there to do the 1992 Grundig race – I take it there are some decent trails these days?

Yep there are much better trails in the area, the Grundig used some pretty pants trails but that was back in the day!

My lumi battery works just fine
Exactly what i thought wehen i decided i needed to upgrade to Leds

So what does the jury think the lumi LED?
Awesome, im running a pro battery and between charges i got 12hours out of it. This was on a variety of power settings but mostly in the middle setting with the boost only needed for really fast or technical bits ;o)

Lumi Led3 with a pro battery, i have just got 12hours out of my system without charging, my ride partner has the bigger battery and he is upwards of 17 hours without a charge. Gives out a fantastic light too 😉

I’ve just ditched the big ring on my HT and fitted a lovely Dark cycles bash ring. I started off running a 36/22 & 11-34 but have since moved back to a conventional 32/22 & 11-32 as most of our riding up here is pretty steep. My set up is still at the experimental stage bit i still reckon its all i need for offroad.

    Nice one, well done.

Will you get to do a fast response course now then? Ours is called Emergency Fire Appliance Driving but they changed the name of it because it was becoming Extremly Fast And Dangerous instead 🙄

I would say Maxxis Crossmark, fast rolling, good size(2.25), and good off road.

Aye you will be alright on that section, as Swayndo says it is metalled albeit a long time ago but its far from being totally knackered 😉

    Hi Tom

I can’t help you with the cable routing as my one(Genesis i0ID) is on the chain stay. As standard the i0 came with a 36-18 and i found it a bit too hard on anything remotely steep so i changed to a 32 and i have been able to ride pretty much everything we have around here(Fyrish etc), and most of our trails are pretty steep. Im pretty sure you will manage fine on a 32-18. A rough guide to the gearing is Middle ring 3rd for the lowest gear and big ring 6th for the biggest(does that make sense?). I think they say it is like having a 29-10 cassete.

You shouldn’t be “controlling” the bike via the saddle.

Maybe i didn’t quite describe that very well! What i am trying to say is that i prefer there being something between my legs for some support rather than nothing at all. Does that sound better?

    That’s bad bike handling IMO

Now theres a challenge fit for a magazine article*, come up here and see what bike handling is like Highland style.

    * Surely you boys are at the bottom of The Dalmore now? 😉

Hmm i think the 3″ drop might be the one to go for as i like having the seat still there for something to control the bike with rather than having nothing there with it totally out of the way if you know what i mean ;o)

or putting the money towards a Lupine Wilma

If you already have a Lumi battery i wouldn’t bother with the wilma and get yourself one of the new Lumi LED3 lamps which are simply amazing, the run times are something else as well compared with the wilma. I looked into the wilma but was put off by a few friends telling me they were anything but great for the money and so plumped to keep my existing Lumi battery with a LED3 unit. It might seem a lot for a light unit but you wouldn’t be disappointed.

Give Lumi a phone, they are very helpful and have great customer service. If you are lucky they might even fix it free.
