I guess that means pca can’t provide us with an example of the “totally transparent pathway to independence” which according to pca we already have

What precisely is this “totally transparent pathway to independence that has been tested and worked fine” then?

I certainly think that a route to Scottish independence should be enshrined in Scottish law.

1 If they don’t they may not be able to get some/any legislation passed.

2 There may not be any formal public agreement but “backstairs” negotiations on every proposed bill.

3 Scottish Tories might split from their UK counterparts.

If we assume that Labour do win in 26 but don’t get a majority and with the SNP as second largest party, it would be daft for the SNP to oppose everything Labour bring forward. That is what Labour did from 2007 onwards and all it got Labour will have been 19 years in opposition

“Can you be more specific about that?”

No ,I meant to put that in my post above.

“The big marches over the weekend were in Glasgow and North Lanarkshire, where the councils are SNP and Labour respectively.” I take it you are referring to Orange marches here.

To be clear I am very much against the OO but I support their right to march peacefully.

If you read the links above there does appear to have been a recent connection  between Labour and Orangeism. I also remember  some stories about Labour councils allowing Orange marches to go ahead, despite a record of violence but not allowing independence marches to go ahead in the same area on a different date and with no record of violence.

That said I come from I can remember times when there was a strong connection between catholicism  and Scottish Labour or at least it was widely believed that there was a strong connection.

Next Scottish parliament election will be no later than May 7th 2026. So the  preparation for campaigning will begin soon. Real campaigning probably christmas 2025 .  My guess is that Swinney does not have the time to turn things around ,even if he has the desire to do so.

What’s the bets that Dross stands for Reform in 2026?  The very thought of it  “gies me the boak “

It’s odd that Murdo can never bring himself to mention what you get for the extra tax you pay.

There’s certainly some problems with the ballot my constituency now wont be decided until tomorrow because of discrepancies at the count.
The recount will not as I understand it make a difference to the result but must happen anyway.
Perhaps it’s just a part of the general shit show in the administration of the election.
Mean time I hope the SNP begin a period of reflection and rebuilding.
The matter of independence hasnt gone away support remains roughly 50 /50. It can’t really be satisfactory that there’s no democratic route to independence which does not involve asking the UK government for permission

Will Rishi’s departure for California be a “flounce” or are we already installing the fastest closing door in the world so that he departs with  a very visible wallop ..

Can only wish you all the best. I’ve had two big break ups they didnt come out of the blue though. I was gutted both times having tried with all I had to sort both relationships. Sleeping was a problem to start with, I slept enough but at erratic times and first time around I avoided all company for months Getting out in the fresh air and eating reasonably healthy helped me.
Been living happily with Mrs Gordimhor for ten years now, all the best to you

Quote”. I haven’t had a winning vote in 20yrs,” unquote.
Is that unusual at all? I started voting in 1983 had no winning vote until 1999 when I voted for Dennis Canavan in the Scottish parliamentary election. No more wins till 2007 then quite a few in succession all in the Scottish parliament. However if we stick to UK General Elections then I had no wins from 1983-2015, 32 years

@kelvin I’ve done a bit before Mostly phone bashing GOTV type stuff. You’ ll need a phone and a laptop.Your job being to get people out to vote if they havent done so already. If they have voted you get as much info as they are willing to share with you. Your party will give you a script to follow. It is best to stick to it. At the end of your session you pass the info you hsve on to hq
I found it ok although the first few calls felt a bit awkward. The person you’re calling wont be able to access your phone number.
Anyway I’ll be a polling agent this year which is a first for me.

Nope no complaints not many good enough players to pick from in the first place, and seven in total out through injury you know that when you see Ralston playing but very much 2nd choice at Celtic
There’s a question mark over some of Clark’s decisions but who is better than him and available? Derek Macinnes maybe.

Over the whole three games I have no complaints The players gave their all the manager did his best. Not sure a change of manager would bring any improvement. The fans should enjoy the night as best they can. Hope the Hungarian boy is ok

What a match Warriors 21 Bulls 16 First 30 minutes it looked like Bulls would run away with it.Glasgow got their first points in the final seconds of the first half. Second half Warriors dominated till the last ten minutes

My first reaction was- What a shower of idiots –
Of course JSO are correct in saying that much greater damage is being done day in day out and the avenues of peaceful protest are becoming more restricted year after year. I think JSO have overestimated the public attention span on this though. Many people will just be thinking JSO sprayed orange stuff all over Stonehenge

It’s not exactly politics, and I am agnostic/atheist but I reckon gaelic psalm singing is really beautiful, and it comes from those people who happen to be sabbatarians

You can read more about it here https://www.theguardian.com/music/2020/aug/27/vertical-connection-to-god-the-euphoria-of-gaelic-psalm-singing

Bloody hell is it autumn in June now. I see there’s a    Van der Merwe playing for SA this afternoon but it’s not that one. No bulls players either but still a tough match . Good luck

So it’s Bulls v Glasgow in the URC final today . What’s your thoughts ? Personally I am more than a little surprised that Glasgow got this far, I thought they would reach the quarters or semi finals but go out there. I am obviously wanting warriors to win but with it being at the Bulls ground and having already lost there, my head says it will be the same result. My heart says you did’nt expect to beat Munster either.

So long as the Scottish governments block grant is determined by the Barnett formula then government spending in England will affect Scottish government spending.

The intention to hold a second referendum was in the SNP’s 2021 manifesto.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-56750867

In 2021 the SNP and Green parties combined formed a government which had a majority in Holyrood.  It is true that more people voted for the unionist parties, but only by a ba hair. In 2014 there was a majority of just under 385,000 for the union. In 2021 38,540 more people voted for the unionist parties than for the pro indy parties. Less than the average attendance at Ibrox.  In my opinion the matter is not settled and it won’t be settled by the parties and their supporters staying in their silos and trotting out their party pieces about one another. There is an urgent need for all sides to work together for all of Scotland right now  Unionists should accept that people should be able to campaign for indy and that there should be a legal route to independence. Indy supporters must accept that unionists are just as Scottish as they are.

” interesting that the SNP has put independence as line 1 in the manifesto ”
It’s exactly what Swinney said he would do when he became leader.

On reflection Taylor is not likely to get a game Robertson has already shown that he can’t play any other position in defence so it looks like our starting defence on Saturday will be what finished the game last night

With Tierney out for the duration we could see Greg Taylor getting a game for Scotland.
