On the other hand, our government doesn’t torture and execute it’s citizens for their sexual preference.

I know which ‘retards’ I’d be governed by, especially as we’re free to change the government when the next election comes round.

    Thanks for the ideas.

Count -> The shots with the bollards in are going straight to the recycle bin, this was just the first example of the fencing I came across to post. My PSP skills aren’t up to dealing with that, and I have enough that there will be no big loss.

    Cheers.

    Fully recovered thanks Headfirst.

    where he just look bewildered.

In his defence he has just recovered from a GA, and woken up minus his dicky dew claw and with a sore ear. Then again, he’s not the sharpest knife in the drawer. This vicious hot air balloon invaded his airspace on Wednesday. He barked and barked until it disappeared round the wall, then legged it upstairs and stood on our bed to get a better view and carry on barking to make sure it was well and truly seen off.

but don’t you find that his/her ears affect the reception on your satellite TV

Lurcher ears are frequently wayward. Especially if like Ted you have been issued with a pair two sizes too big.

They are a particular liability if you catch a squirrel, fail to kill it, and let it bite you on the end of the lughole.

Driving is a gamble, you are either lucky or you are not.

I think you’ll find that you make your own luck.

What’ll you do when next week they swipe a child. You’ll wish you’d reported it then.

Alright, calm down. 🙄 It’s been on my mind for a while, but I’ve been worried the police would think me a time waster or something. I shall be passing them his details presently.

So if I reported the cretin I repeatedly see using a mobile while driving all manner of HGVs and wagons to the police they wouldn’t just laugh? Twice I’ve seen him almost wipe out a parked car.

He’s a very successful truck racer apparently, but I just think he’s a dangerous fool. I’ve been wondering for a while what I can do about it, but thought the police might not be interested.

Didn’t know about the politics. I gave up buying from them about 12 months ago. They are local to me, so I occasionally got stuff from them when I needed it that day.

The last time I went in, to buy about £300 of kit, the machine refused my debit card twice (has never happened with that card before or since). They suggested I go and get cash (but didn’t know where the nearest machine was), refused to try the other terminal (‘because there’s a queue’) and wouldn’t process manually.

I left them to it, went to PC World round the corner and picked up what I wanted for the same price, without all the hassle.

I’ve never been back on principle, even when it’s the easiest / cheapest option.

Hehehe! Yep, earplugs a must, but I won’t sleeping over the race night (well, maybe a snooze in the grandstand). They did the trick at Britcar last year.

Didn’t think about noise on the Sunday night, we’ve staying on site and driving home on Monday. Ooops!

Just found out that Houx Annexe has an ‘atmos’ desribed as ‘stag’…..

Thanks for the tips (especially the Hotel du France, this will help break up the relentless car theme for Sarah! :D)

Not sure exactly how long I’ve wanted to go to the race, I certainly remember a picture book I had with it in before I started school. I’ll be forty in September! I’m worse than a ten year old at the beginning of December at the moment.

We’ll be travelling down in my Megane, so we won’t really stand out from the normal tourist crowd. 😉

    Thanks again.

But wasn’t AS accident in the practice/Qualifing and not the race?

No, it was in the race, after a re-start from behind the safety car.

the head on impact force detached the spinal cord from the skull (forward movement) hence the intro of the HANS device.

HANS not mandatory until 2003, nearly ten years later.

    I’ve never had dogs

Some of the advice above, IMO, is dangerous

Considering all the posts from people on here who have owned dogs, who generally agree it’s the most effective reaction, I’d have to conclude you have no idea what you are talking about.

    Dogs are different.

But can just as easily be trained without thumping them.

You are the play mate now, if she goes too far then yelp and stop playing/ignore her/turn away for a few seconds then turn round and start again. It’ll take a few days for her to work it out but she will.

You’ll feel daft doing it, but it worked a treat with our Ali who got a bit ‘mouthy’ when he was excited. Do your best impression of a dog yelping, pull your hand away, and turn away from the dog. She’ll soon realise play ends if she goes too far.

    Nice looking pup.

Been trying to get out there for about 3 years. Every time I get close, something happens to cancel my day off, weather packs up, etc. The only time I actually set off I was the the innocent third party in someone else’s car accident half way there, and had to catch the train home.

I’m currently workiing on Staffs University campus sootyandjim. I remember seeing the MH-53 very often, having lived most of my life in Stone. Still get a lot of Merlins, Lynx, Chinooks, etc at low level over the campus as they drop in to refuel..

I remember being at Mildenhall airshow a good few years back and heard the tail end of a friendly discussion between an A-10 pilot and a Harrier pilot about which of the two planes was best.

They were mentioning the usual facts (A-10 can fly with one engine missing, one tail thingy missing, half of one wing missing etc, Harrier can do the whole V/STOL thing, hide under road bridges etc). Anyway, the argument got round to the Harrier’s VIFF trick, to which the A-10 pilot said: “Yes, I can fly backwards. I just have to keep firing the Gatling”.

Apparently the recoil stalls it at 3 seconds and the plane can go backwards at about 5 seconds.

That’s a nice story, but it’s sadly not true.

I rather assume that god is considerably more complicated…

Are you going to tell He moves in mysterious ways next? Sarah has told me of decent, christian families who have devoted their lives to praying for their terminally ill children, but they still died. If He’s not going to intervene at the first asking, just how many times DO you have to ask?

I’ve had that one too Coffeeking. Just about all the misapprehensions about evolutionary theory in four short paragpraphs. The good old ‘argument of incredulity’, irreducible complexity, and the ‘how do you see with a quarter of an eye’ chestnut.

Sorry to hear you have been affected by cancer Tyger, but I have to answer this one. My wife is a specialist registrar in palliative care. She deals with dozens of terminally ill patients every year. Lots of them, like yourselves, were praying for an intervention that the doctors couldn’t give them. They still died. Why should that be?

Don’t be prejudiced against all religious people.

    Fair enough.

So where can your hope be found? Where do you find your peace if disaster should strike? There’s a better life to be had.

But could religious people practice the same principles please? This post implies that I am a nihilistic, apathetic, dead loss, who could ‘be better’ if I just believed.

I am certain where I am going, I am responsible for the things that happen in my life and how I deal with them. I don’t want a better life (whatever that means) I’m very happy where I am.

Would you take pleasure in seeing their faith and belief system crushed?

No, not crushed. But those belief systems are the basis of dangerous amounts of power, money, and violence. They are not immune to criticism.

Marcus Brigstocke’s rantette says it all really.
