The Mucky Nutz Y Fronts (or whatever they're called from Charlie the Bikemonger) works very well with a Crudcatcher. I shall be sporting one for this weekends aqua biking expedition…. No weight and far more unobtrusive than the fender, IMO.

Mine are Hope Pro II trials / SS rear and matching front. Lots of choice on the fronts of course and they're practically service-free (famous last words).

Dunno about sourcing them in your neck of the woods though, but I got mine built by Lifecycles[/url] in Bolton – and, as all their wheels have been – they're superb.

+! for the slot drop inbred. What's to lose? They really are very good (and a nice colour).

Bench needs a coat of Hammerite and the grass is way too long. :-)

But don't those Lemon Meringue SS's look the business! Very nice – you must be well chuffed with it. Where did you get the wheels done?

As sported by "chavs" the world over…

Not suggesting for a moment a parallel with an IF or Yeti, but I think the headbadges are a good example of British craftsmanship and finish an already nice frame off very well. Anyway – what's to a little indulgence?

hi biker66. They're 129mm total length (inc the collars) and the rubber part of the grip is 112mm – as far as I can tell…

There's a couple of people interested in them on my thread in the Classifieds but no sale as of yet.

    cheers.

That looks great, tinribz – and a cool match with the Bombers too. I've spent about 2 hours tonight with a squishy back brake, but it seems to be coming good; best of effort with yours! Patience is a virtue or something like that.

Ok Grumm – you were right. I've just tried black grips and saddle on the green Inbred and, yup, it's a lot better than adding brown to the mix.

Therefore, there will presently be appearing on the Classifieds a set of lock on grips and a rather nice Ti saddle…

    [/public climb-down]

I'll sort some pics over the weekend.

I want to see a pink one too – though I'm loving the orange, yellow, blue and brown (and my green one, of course). Good work, On One design pixies.

A few quid on a headbadge for us Lancastrians / Chesire-ites (or whatever we're called) to de-Yorkshire it? It's not much on the grand scheme of things.

Anyway – I got mine muddy last night. Anyone else been out in the hills yet? Top, top bike – very nicely finished and ridiculous value for money – extra headbadge or none. :-)

Very close here – it's been ridden up the road and back – just struggling a bit with bleeding the rear brake. It'll settle down overnight, I'm sure, and if not – gives me something more to do tomorrow night.

I put my headbadge on (straight, I think) and sorted the saddle out. The chaintugs have had to go on back to front as they're not On One ones, and, nice as they are, don't fit the back of the dropouts quite right.

I'm looking at sorting the variety of colours out asap – with the red Reba stickers quite possibly being the first thing to go. The blue has to stay, and I do quite like the brown saddle and grips. Maybe in time the world will come to appreciate blue and green together… :?

It does look like a very nicely finished frame – way better paint than my old white sliding dropout Inbred. Very pleased so far – just can't wait to go for a good ride tomorrow after work. It'll be the Winter Inbred in the morning with the mudguards and the like… in the rain.

Coolhandluke – you'll find it further up the thread. I've got one too, and it's really nice – finishes the frame off very well, and a great bit of craftmanship as far as I can tell.

Thanks BlingBling – very kind. The grips are the Spank chocolate ones – a bit darker brown than the Charge saddle, but not far off. Just want to find some lock on collars in blue that'll fit the grips – they seem a bit chunkier than ODI ones, but it might just be me.

Sorry about the state of the garage, the amateurish quality of the pic and the bits of bike all over the place, but it's built and I think it's ok? Brakes need a bleed, head badge needs fitting, saddle needs a level and the chaintugs need some playing with…

… but it'll be finished tomorrow night. Happy days. :-)

OK – unpacked, ready to start building now. For all the orange that Grumm's is, mine's very, very green. My initial fears about the blueness of the kit that's going on it (that worked fine on the white Inbred) are a lot less now that I've seen it against the seatclamp. It's too late now anyway – it'll have to do!

The new (very) green slot dropout Inbreds look reet nice too.

At least my new one does… mmm… bike building time tonight, me thinks.

Mine have been on both the Anthem X and the old Inbred and are now ready to fit to the new Sterling green slot dropout Inbred – had them for months from them and they've been absolutely fine. A snip.

All I chose to do on my sliding dropout Inbred was put a really simple bash ring on the outside up front – didn't have any great problems with the chain coming off ever.

gotothehills – Is the Swiss flag a logo then?

Hmmm – let's play "spot the difference"

your starter for 10 – The Swiss Flag:

and your bonus for 5 "The flag of the Red Cross"

You're right to make the link though, WCA – I think it's considered to be the case that it was the reversed out Swiss flag design that reflected the country / neutrality / founder of said organisation.

It's universally understood – as far as I know. But then so are the Merc and McDonalds and Nike ones.

In my experience – he messed me around big time until I cancelled the order, a couple of years or so back. His excuse at the time was that he was having supplier problems – essentially didn't have the stock. He did everything he could (when he chose to respond to emails) to avoid selling me the thing. It's a shame as it looks like a good solution.

My alternative was to sell the vertical dropout frame and buy a sliding dropout Inbred frame for about the same cost as the EBB. Best decision I ever made….

Best of luck – we did sort it in the end, but it was a hassle and a shame.

    Have a look at a Monitor Audio Airstream 10, a Vita Audio r2i, a B&W Zeppelin… they'll blow the Bose away.

Perhaps more importantly though, have a listen

Sterling Moss Inbred Slot Dropout coming for me… can't wait! A bit embarassed that I'm so excited about a new (cheap) frame, but I am. I'm planning on taking it straight to my local friendly LBS for a face and a chase – and getting them to whack the headset in as well. The merino jerseys are proper nice too – and the t-shirt's not bad either.

Good work, little On One elves, and may the force be with you tomorrow when the containers land.

blimey – clean forgot about Delamere – really sorry about that. That's not too far at all from Nantwich, but not really 'on your doorstep'. Cheshire's great, but the proper hills are almost at the edges of it.

Getting through Crewe from the east is a pig in the morning, so 25/30 mins won't get you very much – it's a good hour from Macclesfield way on the commute. I don't know enough about it, but I bet half an hour north west of Nantwich – into the borders – would be pretty cool. There's more riding round those parts than just Llandegla too!

DaveyBoyWonder – does it have to be to the west? If you go east, you're not stuck only to Alderley Edge – there's the more sensible likes of New Mills and so on that would chop your commute to a third, I'd have thought?

How far / for how long would you be prepared to commute? Is N Wales / E Cheshire an option? It would open up more riding possibilities, but, as tazzymtb says, you'll be looking at wildly different house prices.

You're right – you are very close to Llandegla there, but Crewe's downfall is its flatness. I did see a stonking looking BMX track the other day (on the Nantwich side of Crewe nonetheless) but I suspect that'll be down to it being Shanaze Reade's manor.

You're only 45 minutes from Macclesfield Forest, and not too far down the M6 to Cannock. Lee Quarry's not too far of a weekend either.

I do think 'from the door excitement' may be a bit limited but Nantwich is very nice though – considered proper posh (compared to Crewe..!)

True, Rob – but it cost me £4, I think, so fitted the 'rat bike' thing perfectly! The beavers look quite nice though… 8O

one of these would do (but not look that great, it has to be said…) Works well on my winter rat bike – with a crud race type thing on the back.

I've just rebuilt my slot dropout Inbred into a winter road trainer – 26" wheels with Conti slick-ish tyres (can't remember what they're called). I did try to fit 'proper' mudguards but copped out and gave up and went for a whaletail seatpost mounted rear and a steerer mounted front MX style on that I picked up off here. They look gopping but work really well.

I'm glad I went for this set up as whilst piling along last night, I hit a decent pot hole and can't help but feel if I'd gone down the more obvious route of a 700c road bike based winter setup, I'd be the proud owner of a crisped front wheel. I also like having the discs for winter braking, so couldn't more highly recommend the Inbred as a base for a tourer / trainer. They offer an excellent riding position too – stretched but not too much.

Mine's very happily running an HTII 22.32.44 setup, 9spd rear with the mech on the dropout hanger. It's also got bar ends, but don't tell anyone…

Thanks Richie – I forgot that you were the 'horses mouth' for SDG! I'll just pike out for a new brown one, I think – and you're absolutely right; there's a noticable difference between OE and after market. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for these suggestions – I think you're right – the cheap ones tend to be in black and Merlin's where I've got most of mine from (and they don't appear to have brown ones). Still looking… :(

If you want something pricey but haven't got the dosh, don't forget that your Tesco clubcard vouchers are worth 4x in Goldsmiths – so you'll get something for a lot, lot less if you do it that way… BTW – I'm very happy with my Seiko (it keeps the time about as well as the clock on my mobile phone too…) :-)
