That’s how it worked here, showed him the 24 and he thought brilliant its a big version of what I’ve already got and love, the joy of him ready Chris Hoy flying Fergus books is he knows about disc brakes and nice tyres so that’s on the list too!

That’s one of our issues, he knows about disc brakes and suspension.
He specifically wants both these on his new bike! Particularly suspension as he asked what it does and I said it let’s me go over the bumps faster! If it let’s him go faster he wants!

Have book marked the guy in Poland who distributes the spinner air fork, will drop him an email and if the price is right possible go frame only and build up.

Can we get a 10spd cassette on a kids wheel?
Assuming kids bikes are 135mm standard and use a compatible freehub?
If I need to build a set of wheels, any recommendations on rims and hubs?

Looked at those ALIENATION BMX Deviant Rims, strangely says front use only??

I think it’s now just a case of who turns up at the trail centre with the flashiest bike competition and can’t ride worth a ****!

Does that include anybody who owns an Audi and a Santa Cruz? :D

One thing I’ve noticed is, there’s a lot of flash bikes in the trail centres car parks that I’ve been to..but I don’t see hardly any of them doing the red trails.. :?

I’ve got a 2014 5, I bought the frame for £1300 new and built it up myself.
    Pike RCT3 150mm
    CCDB air CS
    Saint brakes
    XT 1×11
Flow EX on Hope pro 2 evo SP
    Renthal carbon lite bars
    Renthal Duo stem
    Reverb.
R Rock Razor F Hans dampf..think there the gravity versions so a bit porky.
Cost me around £3700 to build it myself.

Find it a bit heavy going up hills, but brilliant downhill.
Was curious if a new frame could save me some weight..
Currently weighs 31.4lb with my magic scales :-)

Commencal have some 2018 bikes up on their site now.
    RAMONES 20+ SHINY RED 2018

Might go for this new model, doesn’t have the crap suntour suspension forks, but the 2.6 tyres should overcome that..

If I was still up there I’d join you.
Saturday just gone rode the blue with my 5 year old and then the red after on my lonesome at Whinlatter.
Then did it all again on Tuesday.

But why didn’t I see any other riders on the red?

    What does the frame weigh?

I love the fact that you can rotate the light 360°
Wouldn’t one just rotate their bars or their head depending on where it’s mounted? :D

Could have at least lined the bike up with the white line..

I fitted a rear brake to my sons 2md balance bike (12″HOY balance bike) for two reasons, he had a 10″ to start with.
1.After he got confident on it and going as fast as he could he would look for things to slow him down like banks or long grass. With this is mind and him swerving to whatever he thought would slow him down, emphasis on swerving into danger.
    2. Get him used to a brake for use on his next bike, 16″ pedal bike.

Do what I did and get some plus wheels for your dude.
If I’m riding local I’ll always take my dude with 27.5+ 3.0 tyres..will go full fat when the weather turns.

Took me a while to decide which bike to take to the lake district this weekend.
Took my 5 and know it was the right bike.

Rode the blue with my 5 year old at whinlatter, left him with my wife in the cafe and rode the red..
Bit of a climb but we’ll worth it for the final decent.
Sorry no pics as no Wi-Fi and signal is crap.

Move out and buy a house, terraced houses are reasonably cheap, under 100k in most cities.

I wish they were! Lucky to get a shed for that price.

I’ve already shown my oldest the Ramones 20, to which he commented.. “it’s the same as mine, ohhh it’s got suspension”.
    He has the Ramones 16.

That’s the one he will get (20), it will pass down to our youngest when he’s old enough along with both his balance bikes and the 16.

Two totally different frames? No way the 20’will take 24 inch wheels

Look at the difference in space in the rear triangle and how far the tyre is from the top of the bridge on the fork..
The 20″ looks like it has the same spacing between the front and rear axles.
I might have to investigate, if I can just buy some 24″ wheels (longer crank) in 18 months rather than another bike…

Looks like you could just swap the 20″ wheels for 24″ on the Kona Shred 20, when the time is right…?

Any decent light 20inch wheels that will take a 10spd cassette?

    Outside, obvs. Where else?

    In your tent Obviously.
If your in the middle of nowhere chances of an opportunist nicking your bike when your sleeping is zero.
But if you don’t live in the middle of nowhere or have that kind of area in reach of the house, say some scrote stumbles across you walking his dog?
But don’t worry found some decent suggestions here

Where do you put your bikes when your bikepacking and sleeping in your tent? Assuming it’s a little tent with just enough room to sleep in..

It disconnects the freehub, so that if you pedal nothing will happen. The crank will spin either backwards or forwards, the cassette will still rotate but won’t turn the hub.

You’ll probably falloff trying to pedal if you don’t reconnect.

The idea being that when the rear suspension compresses, the chain hinders the compression because of your weight on the pedals holding the chain tight at the top of the chairing to the cassette.
Allow the cassette to rotate forward disengaged and the chain doesn’t hinder the compression.

    I used one wrap of Stan’s 25mm tape on my DT XM551 rims, 40mm internal.(Ranger 3.0)
Cleaned the rims with mucoff brake cleaner beforehand.

Mount the tyre and run some soapy water around the bead, then pull one side of the tyre on to the bead seat as best you can, you can use your fingers and push from the inside of the tyre.
Hold it in place and pull the other side on as best you can. As long as you can get the tyre tight on the rim it will go up.
I found it easier with the wheel in the bike upside down.
    And inflate…worked for me.

Gorilla tape leaked at the spoke holes for me.

WTB Ranger brilliant in the dry and slightly damp conditions. But no good when the grounds wet, muddy…. rear spins up when out the saddle climbing.
