What you had is a pretty solid build-IF they were built well in the first place.
There are at least two sets I’ve built of Flow EX’s doing World Cup DH races, as well as BDS & I’ve had one back once this year for a true up, which was due to a crash & snapped a spoke.

That does look old & dirty for a new tub.
Base tape can be replaced easily enough by those in the know

Shrewsbury, so probably a bit far out for you?

A new set of Deore’s would cost a similar amount to sorting your Formulas-hateful nasty things that they are!
Having said that, we would’ve sorted them without moaning, so it obviously wasn’t us you spoke to..

    Mavic Aksium?
I’ve got the Fulcrum, which have been ok, except for the free hub which is crap & hard to find.

Good luck. You’ll need it 🙁

They’re a doddle to bleed then, no problems at all.
If they’re struggling with them, sounds like they need to be returned to Madison to me.

They can sometimes trap a bit of air, but I’ve never had a set that won’t bleed up. The newest ones being the most difficult to get all of the air out of. Which version are they?

You don’t need a tool to remove the seal, just the ratchet ring & washer-I’ve seen people fit the seal the wrong way round & cause the problem before.
Glad you’ve sorted it now though.

Did you remove the seal from the main hub body too? If so, check it’s in the right way round.

Why not consider 650B rims instead of 27.5?

Yes Sealskinz are 100% waterproof, apart from the big hole you put your hand in or if you dry them on a radiator, as it destroys the magic parts inside.
Every single one is tested off the production line to make sure.
Obviously water will run down your sleeves if it’s properly wet & gets in, but no glove will stop that.

Going by what I’ve built with recently, I’d either stick with Open Pro’s or go Pacenti.
Pacenti have been one of the truest out of the box rims i’ve ever built, makes life so much easier & seem to last well-I’ve got a customer running a set of SL25’s on Novatec hubs doing some hard work gravel riding, commuting, touring fully loaded etc & have been perfect.

The reverb might not just need a bleed, check the air pressure, seat clamp torque & if the hose is kinked anywhere.

End of July/August is the dates being given at the moment, we’ve got a few sets on order.

When you’ve got a view like this at 10am & realise you’re getting paid to be there..

I’d guess your tyres are too hard-I run 30-35 psi when I’m running tubes, much lower on tubs.
Change your hand position, you’ve got the tops, hoods & drops-use them.

Garmin? Or a cheaper option Cateye Stealth 10

Get some gloves, but not with too much padding
How wide are your tyres & at what pressure?

Eastridge isn’t your typical trail centre, it’s properly good fun & techy.
Built/maintained by the trail pixies that are the Eastridge Trail Partnership who work wonders on their days off looking after the trails (a bunch of locals very passionate & give up at least a day every month for the good of the trails)

Hopton is still going on certain days, but if you’re into DH stuff why not give Revolution a try?

Shorter stem, wider bars will help DH, but make it feel like crap uphill.
I’ve got 90mm stem, 720mm 10mm rise bars & 100mm travel on my xc hard tail. A mate has the same frame with 120mm forks, 50mm stem & 740/20mm bars & it’s like a comedy act watching him trying to ride anything steep (climb)

Good fun on as xc or cx bike if you have one, not the best on a bigger trail bike IMO, very easy to be over biked there.

Long Mynd, Hopton, Eastridge & Stiperstones as a loop.
There’s also loads of smaller areas that are great for a play, but can be a bit sensitive so I won’t advertise online. Worth asking some of the locals in town though, they’ll point you in the right direction.

After you’ve bled it, drop out the spacer & pump the lever once or twice then refit pads & wheel.
That should reduce the lever throw the easy way.
Having said that, I assume you know about the free stroke screw when you bleed those as well?
We often find doing an extra lever bleed after a ride also helps too

Are you sure you’ve got the right version, as there are a DH & FR types that cover different cassette ranges?

Not off the top of my head, but you can read all of them without pressing them out.
    Good luck..

Yes you can from Edwinstowe, back of the football pitch takes you onto the bridleway along side the river Maun, either way & follow your nose will get you there off road

    goldenwonder

There are also a few bridle ways if you want to up the mileage & not bothered about the Gnarr factor (which you can’t be if you’re heading there!)
Fireroad out forwards centre parcs the BW on your left, L/R dog leg at the road, follow the signs along the river & head up towards the Major Oak etc. depending on what you’re looking for

Bits I gernally get rid of, bikes I seem to keep for sentimental reasons, some of which I haven’t seen for 2 years as they’re in storage over 100 miles away!

The Hope adaptor is square edged to take any crown race, it isn’t tapered & a crown race in its own right.

    goldenwonder
    Free Member

Yes it will. It presses onto your fork to make the base of the steerer effectively 1.5, then fit the crown race to that.

Bikmo+, one of the few that give decent cover (so I’m told) for a reasonable price. Just make sure you’re locks are up to scratch for the value insured.

Doesn’t sound like it’s on properly or the bearing in the grease nipple is stuck/blocked.
Make sure the nipple is clean & clear, then push the gun on harder

Sorry, didn’t read the ‘long’ bit..
It’s spring time anyway, time to be taking guards off not fitting them 😉

    goldenwonder

They’re harder to come by than they used to be due to supply/demand (so I was told anyway)
A quick search on line shows they’re hardly difficult to find though

So you want a shop to do work for you, but don’t want to pay their price for said part, expertise & workshop facilities, yet you’re not sure what you actually need?
BUT in answer to your question, no that won’t fit.

Yep, tis very common these days.
Several of our most popular models are sold out completely & some were sold out on pre orders alone-before anyone had even seen one!
