Nice bikes those, a mate of mine had one for several years & it rode really well.

You can get 15 boxes at least in a low roof, SWB Transit, a few more if you stack them carefully…. 😉

Thanks for that Nick, I’ll probably take you up on your offer at some point.
As I said, it’s not happening until the new year, but having lived where I have all my life & about six generations back that we can trace (!) it’s a big thing to go somewhere new even if it is only a couple of hours away.
Best thing in my mind was to get out with some locals to find some riding & then get out exploring.

Depends on the bike & the type of geometry as they vary so much. On a Giant I ride a 50cm, but a Trek a 54cm. Full traditional type around a 56cm.
The only real way is to go & try them

Thanks for the ideas, I know there’s plenty further south, I was just slightly concerned when at the moment my favourite Derbyshire ride is 30 mins drive away.
I’ll post another thread when we’ve moved so I know exactly where we’re going to be living & try & sort a ride out.

Yep, only have enough space at home for one bike so I keep the others in a steel box on a local farm. Safe enough IMO just a pain when I’m not organised & want to ride a different one.

Notts & Derby they grid the start depending on previous results or last years league standing to make sure the fastest are at the front.
Anyone who isn’t in the league but is still quick can ask for permission to start in the front group.
All start together though & have been as high as 199 riders so far this season!

Look like classic cars to me.
The Toyota 2000GT was a very limited production of 337 in the late 60’s, of which around 60 are believed to still exist. Last one I know of sold for £180,000.

What criteria makes a classic? Age? Desirability?
    Toyota corolla ae86, kp60/1/2 starlets, kp30
    ra or ta Celica?
    Datsun 510
    Honda s800
    Hino
    Etc etc.

Anything between 13 steps & 250 miles this week.
    None on the bike though.

No problem mate, there are a couple of ways round it. I used to live in Bilsthorpe so know most of the routes.

Simon, if you’re looking for a way to ride to work, assuming you’re still in Bilsthorpe? Give me a ring & I’ll sort a route for you, shouldn’t be much of a problem.
    Cheers

As Rorschach said, brakes on a cross bike are for show only, they’re not supposed to actually do anything so don’t worry about it, just race it.

Give it a go, but be careful. Try a small adjustable spanner closed up on the affected section.

I’m a fan of Shimano for beginners as there’s a bit of float (enough anyway)
& really like the adjustable tension for people who aren’t the most confident, meaning they can set them as loose as they like until they get used to being clipped in, then up the tension to increase the security.
Others disagree, but that’s my thoughts.
Oh, avoid the multi release cleats, you will pull out of them when you least want to!

Challenge Grifo’s are brilliant. I ran them last season in the mud & they’re the best I’ve tried for a clincher.

But it’s a cross bike, you’re supposed to get it all muddy? 😉

Doesn’t look like you’ve removed the crank bolt yet. Some Shimano Octalink were 10mm & not the usual 8, then use a hollow axel crank puller as normal.

    It’s not a lockout. It’s a propedal on/off lever.

I’d be looking at sorting your back than trying to compensate with a new bike.
Have you seen a Physio or Chiropractor?
The best value for me every three months is my Chiropractor IMO

You’d be surprised how strong normal road wheels are. I’ve run open pro’s on 105 hubs & currently a standard pair of Aksiums for cross racing without any problems at all. Rode the singletrack in the local woods last night without any issues as well.

The overdrive 2 headtube can be adapted to take normal tapered or 1 1/8″ easily enough, just a new headset upper bearing, compression ring & top cap.

accu, the DT tool you speak of is available from any bike shop with a Madison account. I ordered one from the shop I used to work in & arrived in two days. Hardly almost impossible to buy.

Just got back from seeing it through the centre of Nottingham.
Not in full race mode at that stage, but great to see & plenty of support out there.

KMC, just about as slick as Shimano, but more reliable IMO, better shifting than Sram as well.
Wipperman are very good, but not the cheapest for a nice one.

Mine’s almost four years old & faultless, a good friend of mine still regularly rides one that’s eight years old & I still service one from 1996 that’s in weekly service. All mountain bikes.

    Their communication is very poor.
I tried contacting them to try & open an account, using the form they provide, but gave up after three attempts & no response.

I use a private on in Nottingham (long term shoulder problems)
Great bloke, wouldn’t go anywhere else as he’s kept me going so far & doesn’t see me unless he really needs to.
Having said that, there’s a shoulder specialist up on the Wirral that I’d go to if it wasn’t for the travelling.

Helical is easier the more thread that has been stripped out.

Doesn’t really make much difference as it has to be drilled & tapped for the helicoil anyway, so as long as the right size bit is sharp, the amount that’s stripped out is irrelevant

I’ve done three sets of forks this year without any problems

Can I recommend that sir invest in a torque wrench
Arms like popeye, what can I say.. 🙄

Helicoils aren’t that difficult-don’t let people scare you.
I’ve done three sets of forks this year without any problems, just take your time or get someone who knows what they’re doing to help.
No harder than drilling out & resizing.

The groupset I’ve bought comes with a 34/48 & 12/27, but I’ll most likely change the rings to 36/46 as it feels like to much of a gap

    I had one of those.
    Great for spraying the garden.
    Less great for washing bikes.

I found Alphas to not be the easiest when it came to fitting tyres. Took me 3 or 4 attempts to get my Ultremo’s on properly & that’s using tubes. Haven’t had any problems since though.
