Maybe wiping old and dirty grease off might free it up… But you’re better off just getting the right stuff, doubt it needs “fully synthetic” at £20 a pot 😉

With the adjustable, to avoid hassle use it so the load is lower down the moving side (ie choosing rotational direction) and ensure you place the spanner over the nut the try to tighten the jaws a little while wriggling the spanner to get the best fit possible (assuming its a non standard and small and a fuss to replace)

    Bon chance

Pretty sure “stainless” spokes are still magnetic.

Somebody could make a set of STW Top Trumps. What should the categories be?

    Niche/10
    Gnarr/10
    Style/10
    Control/10
    Damage/10
    Aggression/10
    Big Hitter/10
    ..?

Sounds like a way to build a covert ebike motor to me.

    Are you getting into cyclocross?

I was amazed, I’ve met several and you’re all lovely. Some of you think you can fly the last few meters to the pub.

    Didn’t happen.

What’s with all the interest in 6061? Just for retro correctness, or is it better in some way (which would confuse me as IIRC 7005 builds up lighter)?

Don’t dent the panels, fold the mirrors in and grab the keys through the window if they actually deserve retribution (nb this may get your face slammed against the car if you can’t do it fast enough)

    😀

Clovers comments about the cycle superhighway are interesting, I’ve not seen the Leeds end but by golly the Bradford end has pissed the un-evolved off in Bradford (see T+A comments section passim/ad nauseum)

I want to ride it now. On a tandem. With an inflateable lady on the back seat. Perhaps do some stoppies down a hill…

I flew out to NZ via LAX for the ?40kg? allowance with AirNZ.

It could probably only happen to me, but do check the person who inputs the data books the same baggage allowance onwards….

(Thanks STA travel, real well done)

    Have you tried puncturing it?

    ! Yikes !

No – it’s not a raised thing, more like normal bruise only it is centred on the vein, I must have just split it a little like a hose that’s been run over too many times on the driveway.

As I said, I don’t think it’s particularly bad, just seems one of those things that could get worse or not heal if not treated correctly – hence a question.

Many years ago I did slice into a vein with a razor thinking it was dirt trapped in a very large piece of scar tissue. Holy **** it hurt like hell and I am never doing that again!

Mind you that photo looks as if you are in the Netherlands.

    Correct, Doesburg 🙂

How far are you from the meridian

    6°8?E According to Wikipedia

This could well be the answer, it’s new to me!

They also seem ring at the “correct” times according to the timesignals online/computer etc

So this extra chime isn’t common?

I’m just not as clever as I intend to be. One was a pun, the other was just bad typing. F’xd.

I’m afraid the answer to the pistachio question is: the density of the object. When open, with the shell apart and away from the flesh the nut will have a higher volume and the same weight, and will therefore allow unopened nuts to sink in the packet as they have a higher density and then are subject to vibration during transport. Also, if open, they are likely to dry out more, exacerbating the issue.

(I was going to answer the electricity “easiest path” one, but I think you can Google that more easily 😉 )

The utterly ridiculous arrangement of light switches downstairs in my flat. There’s three lights, there’s three switches. Each light is near a switch, yet each switch controls a different light.

The fact that in the Netherlands its normal to rent a flat….and not have it come with a floor, or light fittings…. Because they’re something you take with you when you move (how the actual faaark am I supposed to move in when it’s sodding dark??!)

    Moomins. Just… What?

Well, yeah. For like, a split-second.

You can “feel” magnetic fields by holding a magnet in your fist, or [my fave] by wearing a magician’s magnetic ring.

    Have you watched cyclocross

No, otherwise I’d be on the other forum =)

So what you’re getting at is: Changing bikes is normal and it’s also normal to not recognise the bike you’re on?

    As you were then 😉

Slight edit – I still think that’s really weird, but then I have a compulsion to recognise/place everything I touch and see

The idea a pro would hop on a bike and not be able to tell its a different bike just from the wear on the paint etc is bloody ridiculous!
