    …on the rubber part, obvs.

NB brown marks can also come from sitting vinyl items against dark rubber (eg black rubbery wire insulation). This does not come off as it’s sorta diffused into the vinyl.

Just use a soapy scourer (plastic type, not steel wool etc) and hot water.

OP I’ve been away for a while and I might have missed an important development, but, it’s usual not to get too worried about trying to understand chewkw’s musings.

Can I have a puff on that pipe next, chewy?

Dunlop Squash shoes (assuming they fit your feet well)

£20*, natural rubber sole with a fine pattern, hard plastic (short) midsole, washable.

Downsides – slightly narrow, the inner lining wears fast (though it hasn’t bothered me in the slightest).

Current pair have survived a couple of years of riding and running, now also worn for work.

*Bonus downside – may involve going to Sports Direct and fighting not to accidentally purchase ‘extras’.

Preloved rabbits are a good idea. I am slightly concerned, usually, about rabbits being not fond of being handled, but if you get some that are, and you don’t let the little one pick them up (sit and stroke) then you might well be fine. Have a read on rabbit.org for info.

There is a little cheating here, I used a filter (my shades).

It’s not a high quality image, but it’s interesting and if I didn’t happen to have the phone in my pocket when I that light coming through the trees, then I would have a no-quality image, because i wouldn’t have been able to take it!

A guess: do modern Hornby transformers have short-circuit protection? Why not try the following: connect meter to the output of the transformer, monitor voltage. Place the train on the track and watch for a significant voltage drop.

Also: try another train on that track, measure the resistance across the wheels of the ?suspect? train and compare to a known good one. Maybe you can test the transformer with a 12v lightbulb, 3-6w 12V would be a reasonable test (IIRC the transformers are 12v).

Is it a mix of old and new parts? Could there be a compatibility issue?

Last suggestion, if the problem seems independent of the applied load, the transformer may be faulty.

Oh, the really easy one is to test the mains connection. Just swap the transformer for desk lamp of something, to ensure the problem isn’t faulty mains supply.

This is like watching 12 engineers screwing-in a lightbulb.

Good grief it’s not hard to understand. When you have had a sticky number two, you simply wipe your arse on the family pet then wash that in the bum-fountain.

@cranbery – I’d guess it was todo with the description I provided above, plus the rotational element of the impact. Based on the centre of gravity of the Vauxhall [near the front] and the direction of the oncoming LR, the rear of the Vauxhall would have spun around relative to the front, and this could result in higher rotational forces further away from the CoG, and therefore more acceleration/g’s in those locations.

    Looking at the vid:

The impact was directly on the outside, turn-weighted, font/side corner of the LR; directly over the structurally-reinforced members necessary for holding the wheel of a 4×4 on to the bodywork and the front drivegear. It would then preceded to load the reinforced beams around the engine, and finally the oncoming car would have encountered the engine itself, which is very very heavy in a 4×4 like that.

There isn’t much more of a high energy crash possible.

Considering the type of crash caused, the vehicle in question, the drivers occupation/”vocation”, the road-rage element and the harm caused, I think the driver should be put away for a long long time, and I also find the sentence far too lenient. Yuk.

    Greetings.

It’s a bit craaaazy around here, but I hope you like it 🙂 To fit right in, I suggest you swap at least one of those riding holidays for a week spent posting in the forums. By the end of the week you may have been even awarded a Sudocream award for something. Last place gets a dose of Picolax and a singlespeed to ride across Dartmoor.

Hoi. I wasn’t actually at a computer when I wrote the above, hence my post being a little incomplete… having looked through their website I see the confusion! Looks to me like only the Kevlar pads are described as without metal content, but even then I’m not 100% sure.

To be fair though, I think a lot of people have run the “Organic/Resin Only” Shimano Discs with pads that do not meet the description and not suffered a catastrophic failure, so you could just give it a shot. IIRC Kevlar pads are pretty similar to Shimano Organic, so I’d try those. Failing that, you’ll have to find Shimano original resin pads, or change rotors.

EDIT – To put it another way, Race Matrix, Sintered and Semi Metallic are all the “wrong” type.

I have really gone off dogs. If you’re not picking their turds up and carrying them around, you’re trying to teach it not to eat it’s own….

    WHY???

Get a rabbit. They eat their own turds but it’s basically hay, so it’s not a problem 🙂

Just in passing: it’s really well optimised – pc users shouldn’t write off older machines, it runs well on lower hardware and also scales really well with multicore CPUs.
