101 miles according to the hypnogoogle [all hail the mighty hypnogoogle].

That’s very kind – I’ll see if there’s a way I can do it, I’d be nice to meet other STWForumites!

OK guys, that makes sense – servicing them myself should be within my capabilities. I just hope that they don’t need extra parts.

If anyone has info regarding who would be best to send them to in the case that they are beyond my repair, that’d be great still.

Forewarned is forearmed, and forearmed is to be able to scratch yourself when descending, braking changing gear and taking a photo…..

It’s not sexist or illegal because the same offer is available to all.

Though I do think it would have been a good idea to offer a female saddle alternative.”

I read the above as “adhesive”

The tech behind the mods, the percentages of improvement….? Sounds pretty crazy stuff.

Yet EVERYONE seems to rate these upgrades, so it must be great?

    Extremely cross!

Rode in in cold, expecting amusing sideways ride back on Thorn Raven with knobblies. Went to get bike at 4 [drivers all wanted to leave early] only to discover:

    1) The warehouse heater had burst my rear tyre
    2) I had forgotten to pack a spare tube
    3) The glue in the puncture kit had gone off

    result:
    1) Accepted lift back in van, unbelievably cross.
    2) Dropped off at Halfords – purchased 3 innertubes [£8.99 to fit?!?! No thanks!]
3)Rode around mostly sideways for 1 hour
4)Returned home, drank a beer and took the rabbits out on leads in the snow :)

+1 for planar 3. I have a secondhand one with RB300 and Ortofon M2 Red. Sounds great!

    That is a shame
    <snip>

I do feel bad about him being alone during the day so going to get him a pal in spring time.

Frank – you may find that the bun become less interested in you if you have a friend for him, sad though that sounds. How many hours is he in for in the day? 8-6?

Interesting stuff. I was thinking of using the 6 channels of my Amp to drive my speaker’s drivers separately – sort of convert them to active if you will. Would any inveterate tweakers be happy to help me with this project. Basically I need to build a line-level crossover to match the ones in the speakers, and if possible add level matching…. Any takers? My electronics is OK, but I don’t have a degree in audio design!

    TIA

What a shame I saw this so late.

Did the rabbit have routine worming [4 times a year]? Sounds like it might have been infected with E.Cuniculi

    http://www.rabbitwelfare.co.uk/resources/content/info-sheets/ecuniculi.htm

[NB this is slightly out of date – Panacur is now licenced and widely available £6 a tube, every 3 month: a dose daily for 9 days]

Or, maybe it was just old or had a spinal injury.

Better luck next time, and don’t forget there are a huge number of bunnies needing a new home – most people have no idea what they’re getting when they buy a bun, many end-up abandoned and need rehoming.

    rabbitrehome.org is ace

Sorry, I should make clear the prices are what I paid, and are given as a guide for those products. Only the Rotel 965 mentioned at the end is for sale.

    Oops! Using mobile…

Acoustic Energy 109 – rebuilt with new surrounds on all cone drivers. 1m from rear wall, listening spot 30cm from opposite wall, lead filled, mounted on 20kg paving slabs with bluetac. Other slight tweaks, single wired (planning to build external xover and use all 6 channel s of the amp someday) – Very muscular, deep deep bass (yes I have known a REL, but this is damn close!), acceptable neutral mids, clean highs. Only sound coloured with female voice (most things do). Slightly peaky across the xover points. Sound great with rock, electronic etc, not quite so brill with classical, but 99% good enough! – £40 inc surounds (took ages to repair though)
Musical Fidelity X-LPS V3 phonostage – clean, clear and neutral. Rythmic and controlled.

    Cable Talk 3 speaker wire

Monster interconnects 400 Mk2 – Likely crap but £5 a 1m pair in a closeout, solid and with good phono ends.

I listen to everything (really!), and it’s always good fun with this gear. As a bonus I hook up a projector and watch films on the gear too!

As an aside I have a Rotel RCD 965bx for sale (no remote). This basically sounds just as good as the Sony, the only reason I don’t use it is because it doesn’t play other formats. Both these transports are so good you will be hearing the limits of the discs. £40 plus postage or collect from Wellingborough or Kettering.

    Hey.

I use the following, and would say it’s eminently suitable for your tastes.

Cambridge Azur 540r V1 Amp (£80 secondhand) – Powerful, controlled and versatile
    Sony DVP-NS900V – Plays CD’s brilliantly, also DVD’s and (if you see ’em) SACD’s – £140 secondhand
Rega Planar 3, RB300 arm, Ortofon M2 Red (a present, new to me, sound tuneful and cleaner than the Sansui they replaced)

I have noticed the same sort of thing – there’s about 4 guys I pass every time I ride and only one or two ever say “Hi” – the guy the silly beanie with flames on it, and the Dutch chap who I stopped to check on if he needed any help when he had a flat.

The others [interestingly in full Lycra] are far too stern faced to even look up!

Really I just think it’s a shame not to share a cheery “Hi” or wave, esp. in the grim winter months.

I suppose some “self-medication” as previously mentioned doesn’t work for you?

But like anything chemical it can be habit forming.

PS – the staff also said “Glad you didn’t put Germoline etc on it, it just makes our job harder and it doesn’t help infection”

Speaking as a voice of serious road rash experience – go, NOW, to drop-in and have it cleaned.

Last time I scraped myself badly, I washed the site out with a scrubbing brush in the shower ’till it looked clean. 3 days later I want in to a hospital near Bromley with a burning feeling developing in the area, and a red patch spreading down my arm.

I was told I was an idiot for not coming in earlier, as they find all sorts of bacteria in cultures from road-rash and it might get severely infected. The sites were washed and the wounds treated with Inadine [fine mesh lagged in Iodine compound and gel] and Flamasil, and vasaline-infused pads.

The wounds infections cleared in 3 or so days with new dressings each day, and gentle washing of the site, and healing began. The itching was insane. Both scrapes were large [2-4″ dia] and pussy.

I saved some Inadine and now am using it [2 years out of date, eerk] on a series of gashes in my hand from a stack on the LLanberris path, belting down Snowden. Still been working – the little finger cut wasn’t treated for 4 days [still riding] and now the infection’s just calming down. I prep with alcohol hand gel, and use cheap plaster strip [cut to size] to change the dressings every 12 hours, with a little square of Inadine inside each plaster.

No professional cleaning/treatment and she may take weeks to heal, experience bad scarring, and maybe just need to go in later to have all the rot scraped out.

I’d say it’s because light is made of particles and all particles have mass. As gravity close to a singularity is functionally equal to infinite, not even light is able to escape from this gravitational field. Or, maybe it’s just because, because. :)

What type of hamster? If they are Chinese Dwarfs, the testicles are unbelieveably disproportionate. TBH, all the hamsters that live together are dwarf hamsters, Chinese are hourglass shaped, grey and with a tail about 15-20mm long. As previously mentioned the balls a bigger than the head. Look at it this way, if they are both the same, the odds are that they are normal. I totally understand your surprise, I felt the same when I started my job and first saw them!
