Here’s one that probably does not work well. Can’t say I’ve had the pleasure of riding one!

WD40 will make a massive mark and prevent overpainting. If anything works I’d expect isopropyl alcohol and blotting, but not rubbing.

For goodness sake try it on an inconspicuous area first!

I though on trains the brakes were held off by the air, so in the event of a failure the thing STOPPED rolling? I cant check right now, maybe someone can explain?

This topic was here a few weeks back. I think the consensus was the steerer needs to be pretty close to the bolt.

IMHO – Not safe in that pic.

I was on about 3 times that amount a few years ago. Cut right back when I started to get heart palpitations!

I will try to cut back further :)

I tend to have one mighty moka in the morning [stovetop brewed] – maybe equivalent to 3-4 shots espresso.
Then try to limit myself to 1 or maybe 2 instants in the post-lunch dip.

Mostly this is due to lack of sleeping time though….

Wish I felt more alert. “Be alert, your country needs lerts”

Warming them will increase the rate of the elec-trickery reaction.

Remotes hardly use any power, so that will likely be enough for a few more zaps.

Shaking/rolling – likely increases contact quality and therefore available volts/milliamps . Check for corrosion!

Anyone read any Pratchett? I also suspect the Imps may be tired/snoozing.

Thanks for the tips. I have aligned it using the underneath set of yellow dots and it does seem a little better.

I will look at the cables again at the weekend, but I would be disappointed if I fitted them badly – I was a bike tech for 5 years ;)

May the wind always be at your backs, kind sirs/madams.

And in the case of the Turquoise-handled one – use a sliding grip to maximise energy transfer.

They didn’t really demolish it did they? Despite trying.

A Gudgeon is also a tropical fish*. A smallish unassuming fish, which it turns out** can eat anything up to about 1/2 of it’s size. Including some of my favorite ones :(

You may not be surprised to learn it comes from Australia.

    An Empire Gudgeon

*And also some Marine fish share the name
**My LFS did not know this until I brought her back. Fatter.

I just tried only one DIMM in one slot, which worked, then the other DIMM only in the other slot,
try them both in the same slot. (Not at the same time…!)

A friend of mine swapped DIMMs in a running server once. It stopped, because the magic smoke got out.

    OK.

Did you have the same problems prior to that?

But it’s new! You think it needs a clean?

I have tried dialing the alignment in by starting from waay out of adjustment in one direction, and turning it 1/4 a turn at a time to see if it works better in *any * position – can’t get it working right anywhere, even when I go past the alignment the other way, [just to check all possibilities – I rode very gently when doing this].

I will try the other alignment guide though. Thanks

If swapping the DIMMs over means the other DIMM works in the other slot, but putting both in always results in the one in the same slot not showing up, than you have a duff mobo. Might also explain the other weirdness.

In that case – bin it. Or it will like bite you in the ass sometime you really don’t want it to.

Always install DIMMs with a grounding strap or with the machine plugged in BUT TURNED OFF AT THE SOCKET [keeps the metalwork grounded]. ALWAYS have bare arms, and cotton clothes, and don’t move around more than your arms. Touch the grounded metalwork every 30 seconds, or better still rest a finger on it.

Remove the battery too, and wait a minute.

You may know these things, but if you don’t you might fsck up the machine completely.

    how long to pass?

About 30 seconds a time, every hour, I guess

    Sorry, couldn’t resist that one.

I had something in Bali, so I know your pain. Sorry I don’t know what meds I was given….

    The Alfine’d Spesh is.
The Rohloff makes a variety of charming noises and the Hope Pro 2 and screaming gives away the MTB on the downhills.

    I also talk a lot :)

Serious braking can also cause the pressure to rise due to heat, exacerbated in the sun I’d say. Get a pressure gauge?

    gofasterstripes

Are you perchance pumping them up to the high end of the pressure range in the morning? I have had similar in very hot weather. After a few issues I checked the pressure during the day – it was markedly different!

Did you buy it new? If it didn’t come with restore discs then you need to find the tool to access the restore partition. Often you cant restore to an earlier version of Windows, so you may not be able to recover your last full install.

google the make and model of the machine and find how its restore function works and recover to that.

I’m sure your mate who gave you the disc was being kind, but for windows not to activate it has to be either an ooollldd preview distribution, or a hacked disk image, and if someone’s messed with the installer files how do you know they’ve not slipped some other “goods” in there?

Meantime, try a Ubuntu boot disc or USB stick and run the hardware diagnostics on that?

Over tightening the lockring. It’s only to help prevent valve dive when fitting the pump, so it doesn’t need to be tight.
