Oh wow, I’ve learned something amazing from, this thread – there exists a theory[/url] that states cave paintings with multiple heads or legs appeared animated when viewed with flickering firelight.

“Lascaux is the cave with the greatest number of cases of split-action movement by superimposition of successive images. Some 20 animals, principally horses, have the head, legs or tail multiplied. When the paintings are viewed by flickering torchlight, the animated effect “achieves its full impact,” said Azéma.”

Wow. That’s nice, but I’d never be able to pull it off, infact you’d have to be a seriously awesome rider not to look like a tool on it!

If video is actually important, then you might want to actually consider the HS10 – it shoots 1900*1080 for 30 mins per video.

I think the HS10 is actually a bit better than the HS20, but I don’t know about the HS30/40/50.

We paid £160 for ours, with a fixed 24-720mm [eqv@35mm] lens.

It also shoots RAW for a slight boost in picture quality, and can record video from 30-1000FPS [though the faster the framerate the lower the pixel count in the videos].

It’s a bit slow, and needs a little understanding, but jeebus it’s versatile, and cheaper than a pile of good quality lenses for a DSLR.

I picked up a good sized one examined it and discarded it from my perch. RIGHT ONTO the head of a toddling child – the child of the Head of the Department. Laid him out cold. An ambulance was called. We left. My father had rather a hard time at work for a while after that…

When I was about 15 I suddenly remembered doing it. Asked my father about it – the git sought [justifiable] revenge – told me [an untruth] he said I’d messed the kid up for life!

The only problem with this jape was that he wondered off and forgot to tell me it wasn’t true for a few weeks. I felt bloody awful!!

I did many other things to make his life interesting too…. 😉

It’s only too ride if it’s a detriment to your riding.

Words fail me. I thought I was a little shit, but….wow.

I had a very close scrape with this recently, a very good photography shop who have a facility of selling old cameras for customers for a small commission. His advice was a K10D for £165. Annoyingly by the time we had gone for a cuppa and decided, he had sold it to a dealer in cameras.

I then went waaaaay off in another direction and bought a Fuji HS10 Bridge with a 30x optical zoom, AND a 10mm minimum focal distance!

My reasoning is the HS10 is like a whole bag of lenses and still a big step up from my previous Bridge, so i have plenty to be getting on with.

I honestly think that the most likely explanation, if genuine Extra Terrestrials are involved, is that they are taking the piss, al-la Douglas Adams.

But the likelihood of inebriated students doing it is a serious order of magnitude higher.

Shame its not probing barley season or I’d be tempted to make one after what I just consumed….

I move to strike Hunger Games of the “stinkers” list.

Worked in Halfords, had done for 4 years, Cycles Supervisor etc etc, great wrenching reputation, good sales.

Hired a guy, worked with him for only a week before I went away for 2 weeks. Was [incorrectly, it turned-out] concerned he wasn’t ready to be left alone there.

My last words to him before leaving were

Queue 2 weeks blissful holiday on a catamaran in Greece.

Come back and found I’d left some stem pinch bolts lose and some guy had ridden out of the carpark and tried to make a left onto a bike lane. The bike had veered a few degrees, the wheel had jackknifed and dumped him on his face in the middle of the A21 casing extensive cuts a bruses, but no death. Just.

When I think of it, my eyebrows still climb skyward about 8 years later.
