I run a 10mm Pro 2 on a Blue Pig. Can’t imagine it really makes any difference, but I don’t worry about locking the frame and front wheel in town if I bimble into town on the ‘Pig.

I’ve not spannered pro ever – lining up handlebars exactly is a piece of piss using a bit of string tied around the seatpost (assuming exactly to be ± a couple of mm).

I’m a very picky bar-steward, a couple of mm may not be enough – but I’ll try it 🙂

I spannered pro for a while – lining up handlebars exactly is hard without riding the bike.

you may benefit from lightening up a bit..

    Or loosening up.

Or not, if it’s in the handlebar area.

    I’ll get my my torque-wrench…

Yeah, it’s ace. Don’t let anyone tell you you’re going too slow, when they do that the mountain makes them fall off.

    Korma’s a bitch, yo.

Manitou are usually quite sweet/supple. Wear a backpack with a big lunch and spares in, that will increase your weight 🙂

Footflaps, Dieter Rams [Braun’s lead designer for a good long time] and Johnny Ives are total buddies:

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/apple/8555503/Dieter-Rams-Apple-has-achieved-something-I-never-did.html

I’m not saying he “copied” it, but I am saying he has taken the design language and fiddled/ran with it.

My Pro II hasn’t glitched in the pawls, but some dope I let ride my ‘Pig shifted into both big rings [after I told him my chain was short] and the tension jammed the drive. After managing to lever it apart, the seals on the freehub side drag if I bolt the rear wheel on tight.

Anyone know to how to fix?

Great designers come from all backgrounds – the Motorola RAZR lead hardware designer went to Bradford as was taught by my Course Director – Nik Hills, a wonderful chap, gifted and intelligent, worked for Electrolux and then in Medical Design, finally left that to teach Design at Bradford.

Ives is talented, but less groundbreaking that many would believe.

    Check this out:

1958 Braun Transistor Pocket radio VS iPod

Still love the iMac and the G3/G5 Towers though. The iPod Shuffle is a rare foray into design that is not dependant on sight. How do you use a radio or iPod based on a touchscreen if you’re blind? My DAB radio is useless if you can’t read the screen. Anyway, rant over 🙂

Why did Bradford get dismissed out of hand? We’ll have a shopping center soon, honest!

What last is the norm for 5:10?

Salomon are Figure-8 shaped, and quite narrow. My feet are much wider across the toe-knuckles* than the heel – Salomon don’t fit very well but the quality just about lets me get away with it. I keep hearing about 5:10 – but will they fit me or not?

Personally the best approach shoe I used was a Montrail, but ye gods they were ugly, clearly very corrective. But the midsole was a blast on the bike with DX’s.

*I had a WTF moment here, but I don’t know a better word!

EDIT:Karrimors that looked good destroyed both my girlfriends feet, and, her trust in my ability to choose shoes.

This is old news, gents! It passed it’s testing after being in a tank of water for 24hours. It’s waxed or something, so basically doesn’t get messed-up.

I’m all for it – Making the polystyrene ones is labour intensive [requires extensive hand-finishing], and they don’t degrade.

Using Cardboard means it can be cheaper, more degradable and will also open-up new shapes and styles – I hope it will drive further adoption of helmets – which I am in favour of in general. I hear they also provide further distance for deceleration, so that’s going to prevent some injuries 🙂

The Hovding, on the other hand, is waaaay OTT.

That’s interesting. Is it worth upgrading anyway? I was going to use it as-is.

I bought a Celestron Powerseeker 50 for About £35 new with a tripod. Wobbbly as you like, but a real telescope for peanuts.

Might be worth it to see what you think of it, and it’s so cheap you can give it to a friend/child as a present if you dont like it or want to upgrade because you do.

The moon looks amazing with it, much betterer than the pictures on the Celestron website.

I’d expect around 90 minutes, maybe 2 hours. It’s about as bad as it gets for battery, especially in poor or variable signal [like on a train, where you might actually use it 🙄 ].

Also – @ grahams – you’ll be using the CPU much more than a phone call to handle all the translation and arbitration required for

    Network>Modem>phone data flow>drivers>WiFi etc
