Assegai Maxxgrip front, Dissector Maxxtarra rear, that’s my favourite combo currently.

I’d prefer a less draggy rear to get me round than a DHR2.

This looks a lot of bike for the money, if you can handle the colour

After reading the article I don’t think my issue is caused by the bolt missing, however just to be on the safe side I ordered a pack of m3 flange bolts from eBay for 99p delivered, I cheaped out and got 5mm as they where a chunk cheaper.

Oddly I had a similar issue on Saturday, shifting was ok in all but one or two gears in the middle, I stripped the bike and have ordered a new chain as it’s pretty worn, I noticed that the mech was tight on the hanger allowing little movement, I tried the clean and line but it’s too worn so I’ve ordered a new kit.
Interesting about the hole mine also has one without a bolt in, is it an M3 flange button head people are putting in as I popped a 10mm button head in the hole and it’s not very deep,  the only benefit I can see would be nipping the two parts together?

I love my Gen1 141 and have been patiently waiting for the Gen2 161, but it’s way too heavy no raw option and absolutely gopping looking, I’m really disappointed and a bit peed of the Raw Madonna 2.2 sale frame isn’t in my size now.
I’ve seen a few prototype Gen2 bikes in raw and they didn’t looks as ugly as the production bikes, not sure if it’s the paint  or the press bike in an odd size, I appreciate that part of the weight comes from proper gravity tires but +40 is ridiculous.

I have a mini r56, when the anti roll bar bushes or drop links go they make a right noise, luckily they are cheap and easy enough to change, it’s a common problem and there are loads of YouTube tutorials.

I just got a Genesis broadway (£449 delivered) and popped some flat bars on it, basically a Genesis Cda/Cdf with Mtb gears.
I also have a Pinnicle Lithium 3 I got off here that I rate.

I may get a new long travel bike and sell my Sentinel, I’m interested in the new Privateer as I love my 141, or maybe a new frame of some description, Madonna 2.2 in the sale, I was tempted by the cheap Megatowers.
I got a genesis Boradway just before Christmas,  it will be a pub bike so is unlikely to get much use until summer.

The finale outdoor area is where most setups go from to Nato & Din, Freeride finale are about the biggest and run most of the day, drop them a WhatsApp and they will secure places, when you get there get a “for you” card and this will knock a bit off your uplifts and tour, their tours are great but for the tours Ride on are a touch better.

The both feel very different, Cura do everything I want in a short bit of thro and pull to a hard stop, Hayes have a lot more throw and a softer stop.
I didn’t see the graph until just now, it didn’t make much sense to be honest, I’ll have a better look later.
I went from 203/203 with the Hayes to 203/183 with Formula and haven’t wanted for more power at 13st.

They feel good to me, pretty solid but I don’t need to pull them too hard, the levers are long so I run them in a little more, they work well with one finger, I’ve been riding a good bit in Italy with lots of folk that run Formula and I get comfort from knowing I can get them sorted fairly easily if need be, the discs are cheap but about the best quality I’ve used, they are heavy compared to Hayes but Hayes rotors are twice the price and nothing special, Formula fittings are also great quality too, Elro price matched so they came in at a very sensible price imho.
I ran Hope M4 then V4 for years they where good and probably still going well now but I don’t think they are all that in the power department, I’ve had them fade and scream horrifically with sintered pads.
I also ran Codes for three years which I rate, but the calipers seem to get sticky pistons over time and start running to one side more, they also seem sensitive to pad choice.

I got some on my 141, ther where ok, lever feel was nice but they where let down by feeling a bit cheep, the clamps and matchmaker felt brittle, the hose did what it wanted, I looked for spares as I had a couple of holidays and races but they where expensive or not available.
I sold them and got another set of Formula Cura from Elro, the Formulas feel great in every respect, very set and forget, I have them on both bikes with no issue after hard use.

Sad times, We still see quite a few Orange bikes up our way, I know loads of Fanpeople.

I’ve had quite a few Orange bikes, G3, Five, Patriot, P7, I’d happily ride an orange now but new they’re often poor value, second have no warranty to cover the high crack rate.

Anyone remember the sweary northerner vids?

No that’s gash, I probably wouldn’t want anyone the did that sort of thing touching my bike.
I’d use masking tape to mark the old decal position, heat it remove and isolated the area and re apply.

I just had some wheels built for my 141 Hope pro5 one XM481 front EX511 rear, all silver, they look and ride stunning, £520 to my door, even came with spare spokes, I have some EX511 on pro4 that I’ve had for a couple of years, hopefully these are as good, I’ve had three sets of Hunt wheels the first two where fabulous, the last set a spoke came loose, but otherwise I rate them.

I have a 2021 carbon Sentinel and the 141 is easily as capable of not more, they both climb similarly, if I could only have one I’d probably pick the 141, I’m taking the Sentinel to Finale in a couple of weeks and was there with the 141 last month I’ll have a good idea which is the better bike in the rough stuff.

I picked one up a few months ago, it’s a really great bike, the reviews are very accurate imho, at the current preice they are a steal, the newer frame will be a lot more money, geo is really progressive, it climbs and descends well, they feel more like a short travel enduro bike than a trail bike.

My other bike is carbon and I feel much happier on a raw alloy bike.

I was looking at these at the Ardrock, they had a big clear syringe that was sealed at one end, the difference in pressure with an inset chucked in was very noticeable, they where doing them at a discount so I purchased one for my 150 Fox 36, I’ve only had a couple of rides on it but the fork is a lot smoother off the top, as for snake oil they managed the sell this technology to Audi so there must be something in it.

I have an R56 Cooper S, I really enjoy it but it’s not been without it’s issues, I got a unabused one with 60k full history and I’ve done loads of work to it, luckily most stuff I’ve done myself, there are a lot of dogs about and a flogged unloved mini will be a money pit, not sure I’d recommend one.

    @import
you can get recon hpfp now, I fitted one to mine.

The categories seemed like a right dogs dinner this year,  having to pull over and loose time for someone on an e-bike isn’t cool.
As for hardest, some of the Tweedlove stuff makes Ardrock look like flat.

I thought I’d do I bit of a thread update on the bike, in short, I love it!
I swapped the Hayes for some Formula Cura 4, the stem and chain device for Unite ones and chucked some Gx Axs on, I change the rear tire for a Dissecor but I’m it in Finale so now running stock rubber.
Honestly I can’t speak highly enough on this little bike, I’ve not ridden the Transition in anger since I got it and in reality there is very little between them, at circa 3k it was a steal and even on the naughty stuff I rarely feel under biked.

When I was a kid I snapped my leg at the tubular and fibula in a trial, it was snowing and i lay in the snow for an hour waiting to be found, I also hit my teeth off my bars smashing them all over, I had to have braces, twice.

In 2018 we drove from North Yorkshire to Morzine, day two we rode to Morgins which just reopened, I came off on the baked ground so hard I nearly sh!t myself, I rode all the way back to Morzine with my arm hanging out, I paid £150 for an X-ray and was prescribed 1 paracetamol, turns out I separated my shoulder and to this day it’s an inch out at the top.

Last year I fell on some cobbles and tore a hole in my arm, there was loads of grit in it and my mate insisted he washed it out with his water bottle, I was a bit too dazed to stop him and nearly passed out, it was a pig to stitch and healed terribly.

@Hobnob, it’s not replacing the sentinel, just a second bike, I intend to sell my Bird forge.
I like a spare bike, I had an issue with my Sentinel frame, it took 3 months for a new front triangle, 4 month chasing my mates on a hardtail did me in so I’ve decided to treat myself, if I don’t vibe with the 141 I’ll send it back.

I’m not a Bird hater but the Aether does nothing for me.

As for trail Hunt trail wide I’ve had good experiences, I kicked the carp out of my V1 and my second set have had 14 month with no issues, granted at the bottom of something nasty I give them a spin I wouldn’t give my 511’s.

My sentinel this second, great bike.

Thanks for the replys peeps, I’ve ordered a P3 Raw 36, I currently have a Large V2 Sentinel and a Large Bird Forge so size should be ideal, I’ll probably swap some bit out from the get go, maybe brakes and put an Axs mech on so less cable to worry about. I’ve a few trips away this Year and all being well I’ll be taking this bike to Finale twice 😎 Off to Inners tomorrow for the weekend, can’t wait!

Hunt Trail Wide, I’ve fun them for 4 years with zero issues, my original set I took to Finale twice and fully expected them to look like 50p’s, my second set have been on on my hard tail since new and are just as good, two year ago I built a new Enduro bike with the best hubs Hope did and they immediately felt like a downgrade.

The trek s 8 is way more than just Trek shaped bike, I’m not a Bird hater, I ride one, but put the Slash next to the Bird and it makes the Bird look agricultural imho, in frame storage is also a great feature, My riding buddy has one and it’s really nice, and very flattering, at 3k I’m hovering over the button myself.

Propane Tyee is also a lovely bike if you was to fiddle with Spec.

The slash 8 is a really nice bike, the bike suspension has been downgraded for 23, theses guys have L at a great price.
