[/quote]What size TV do you have now? I find HD looks much better on my 42″ TV, but have read it is not so noticeable on smaller ones.
It’s the other way around. On a bigger TV the pixel count still remains 720 or 1080 so the pixels become more prominent unless you move away from the TV. Your room size and the distance you sit away from the TV will determine optimal TV size. I remember going in my neighbours house once and trying to explain why the sky hd on his much bigger all singing and dancing new 55″ 1080p tv looked shit compared to my 720p 32″ panasonic. If he was a gamer or into films and bought a blue ray player then he would benefit more but he thought Godfather 3 was the best Godfather! 😕
gmandavisonFree Memberdefiantly worth it, if you don’t plan on ever buying a playstation 3 or a blue ray player don’t worry about 1080p sky doesn’t broadcast in 1080p nor will they in the near future it’s way too expensive. Get a descent 720p TV and as a side note plasma TV’s give the truest colour representation also don’t listen to the sales men they are usually trying to sell of old stock (not always a bad thing). You can’t go wrong with a Panasonic Viera.
gmandavisonFree MemberStrange how the religious keep asking the atheists to “prove” the absence of their ridiculous deity thing, then.
prove it! 😆
gmandavisonFree Member😀 yea te button doesn’t work on my key board and i forgot to paste one in 😆
gmandavisonFree MemberI personally think bikes are a rip off, I just can’t get my head around how they justify the price tags on times. I recently built a bike and made massive savings buying older parts still from the likes of CRC but to buy the bike new I could go out and buy a 2nd and 1000cc superbike which too as an aluminium frame, and allot more aluminium at that.
gmandavisonFree MemberI don’t think they do much in Pontypool, I was thinking along the lines of regular midweek meet ups to ride the areas in and around Pontypool. Thanks for the info though 🙂
gmandavisonFree MemberI know I need a saw! anyone in particular that is suited for cutting through felled trees (wet wood)
gmandavisonFree MemberIf you ride relatively non technical trails, or ride with people who are slow and clumsy, 100mm is more than ample. If you ride steep technical/rough trails and want to keep up with the fast boys then no, it’s not.
muddyfunster, that’s the point I was hoping to see people discuss, I’m not talking about DH runs or steep terrain just
I’m not saying no one needs more than 100mm just that if you only ride xc trails and don’t hit the jumps why go for more?
gmandavisonFree MemberHerman, it’s probably bad technique and being over cautious, I haven’t long had my collar bone braced and have had a bone craft to bridge the gap. The video looks worse than it is, i’m literally feathering the rear controlling the speed a little.
gmandavisonFree Memberads678 As I said, I ride all sorts including DH hence an adjustable fork I know for sure that more than 100mm would be needed it’s more a point for the guys davidtaylforth is talking about. I agree with you Dave about the jumping, one of the reasons I bought the subject up was because I thought I needed a DH bike for riding DH trails when unless your racing or are have been riding that style all your life a descent all mountain bike will do the job of the few DH trails I’ve ridden and available to me. I figured I’d try the Twrch Trail set at 115mm for a similar reason as I have read and heard plenty of people say that the descent id pretty rocky compared to a lot of trail centers, also I rarely get passed on the descents (plenty on the asscents though ) but pass plenty of people.
gmandavisonFree Membergiantjason, I work for one of the worlds leading suppliers of heating controls spares and have so since 2003 and trust me don’t take teef’s advise. As totalshell points out, the last guy who works on a gas appliance is responsible for that gas appliance so if someone does what has apparently happened to teef and something were to go wrong with his mates boiler that guy is risking a jail term and his livelihood. Treat your boiler like you would a car only if your car breaks down in the depths of winter you can’t borrow your mates boiler for an hour. Unfortunately modern boilers ain’t designed to last, believe it or not, and they really do need regular attention some brands more than others!
B.Gas, SSE and the AA all do descent well worth boiler protection schemes and I believe they all have ready access to manufactures technical fault finding. Another option is to note the make and model of your boiler and give your local plumbers merchant and see if they know of some local heating engineers who prefer to work on that brand and have loads of experience with brand. You can also ring the manufacture and ask for a list of recommended engineers in your area as using this method ensures the engineer has product knowledge if there are any issues with the boiler.Hope this helps.
gmandavisonFree MemberNot really but it does cause unnecessary tail backs, select the right gear and keep a comfortable distance.
gmandavisonFree MemberHeres that troy lee designed specialized
http://don-skene-cycles.pinkbike.com/album/2012-Specialized-Demo-8-Troy-Lee-Designs-Limited-Edition/gmandavisonFree MemberThat specialised is pretty sexy! I gotta say, specialized have up’t their game in looks departement of late, my LBS (Don Skenes’) has a seriously sexy Troy Lee special Demo 8.
gmandavisonFree MemberI don’t know if it’s better i guess it depends on what your looking for but Afon is just before swansea and has plenty to choose from and theres also Cwmcarn as your passing.
gmandavisonFree Member@dogmatrix I do at the moment, a mate of mine keeps **** me around saying he’s gonna buy it but if your still looking let me know.
gmandavisonFree MemberI think some people come on forums just to try and get a one up on people because of their lack of credibility in the real world…
chakaping, I’m not saying XT or XTR is for light strolling use, just that he should take into account the intended use of each product. SLX was designed by Shimano for “all mountain” and withstand the demands of heavy abuse, thats a fact no matter what the what you through at it but their is a penalty with weight. The range fits between the Saint and XT for all mountain riders who like a bit of rough and ready and like to descend. Who many heavy hit bikes do you know fitted with Shimano have XTR set ups?Sonnyjim, I’ve recently spent a good deal of time into a custom build Yeti 575 with an biased towards gravity and DH trails and the choice between the XT/SLX/XTR was a big part of it and [/i]everyone pointed out what I’ve said here so from guys in local groups to suppliers and local bike shops and it’s pretty much the only consistent bit of advice I got. Hence, in the end I choice the SLX because of the riding I prefer but wouldn’t claim either is better than the other, they all serve a purpose and you need to find which best suits what you do, rather than pick the one that holds the most street cred, I there are a few knob jockeys on here that spend way to much money on products that they don’t need or are ill fitted because they want to be seen with the “right” gear!
gmandavisonFree MemberSLX is designed for all mountain riding, 50% stronger than XT and XTR but with a wieght penelty. XT is made of lighter materials and designed for trail and xc riding so I would say if you can afford it and don’t do much riding were you could bash the crap out of your gear then XT has to be your choice. As for wheel sets Hope Pro 2 with ZTR Flow rims you can get them new for £330’ish.
gmandavisonFree MemberIf he’s still interested I got a Cannondale Prophet 2 in team colours for sale with Juicey 3’s, Mazziochi 44 15mm, sram x-5 with goodridge cable outers and fox R23 rear shock willing to take 550. It’s in descent condition and has rear shock adjustment for XC/AM which adjusts head angle.
gmandavisonFree MemberI have stopped now and have even refused a £20 e-voucher from them as I have no confidence left in them.
gmandavisonFree MemberWOW, reading that back I wouldn’t get a pass in English! 🙂
gmandavisonFree MemberWillfaz is correct in regards to a contract of sale, however they can just refund your money and they’ve done all that is required. Something similar happened to me and they offered me the 2012 forks for huge discounts (the ones I ordered were 2010 recycled forks). However I didn’t rant at them on the phone I simpily informed them of the problem and asked if they could do me a deal for the new forks at was their fault why we were in the situation. You don’t wan’t to piss the guy off at the other end of the line, it’s not his fault personally and with all the mess ups they caused me and the conversations I’ve had with them lately I doubt any of them are in the mood to be shouted at because of an error in the ordering system.
Explain how you feel cheating and feel compensation is required but also emphasis you not having a go at him/her personally and also appologise if you may sound like if your having a go at him/her persoanly.gmandavisonFree MemberStoner your right, CRC will do what ever they can to ‘make it right’ in my experience. I’ve ended up buying pretty much a complete bike from them and there has been issues with items arriving on time and they have more than compensated for it. A 2008 Yeti 575 with 2012 rock shox lyric u-turns, hope tech M4 with braided lines, hope hoops (evo 2 ZTR flow rims) and full SLX gearing for £2k thanks to their sales, xmas discount codes, some compensation discount codes along with some complimentary £10 voucher codes. I’m certainly one satisfied customer, even if it’s taken a little longer than expected.
gmandavisonFree MemberBy the way, theres nothing wrong with the frame nor are there any signs of there being any problems, so I have no issues with the bike at all, it was more to do with my LBS going on and on and on and on and on.
gmandavisonFree MemberCheers Nonk,
Like I said I don’t care either way if it comes with a YETI warranty as I kinda guessed CRC would sort something out IF an issue arrived. The end of the day the bikes are built in the same factory as a UK serial numbers so I’m not worried about quality issues and the price they’re selling them for on CRC you’d pay the same for a second hand one that was scratched to shit and has had 3 years of use.
Thanks for posting the letter though as I was a little suspect as I honestly thought they were just being childish as I bought the bike elsewhere and not from them. I think they have a personal vendetta against CRC, they love slagging them off, I guess it was another excuses to slag them off 🙂gmandavisonFree MemberBy the way, I was looking to buy parts from my LBS Rorschach for them to fit plus they knew who I was as I spent over 2k with them 6months ago on a new bike and a service/rebuild on another.
