I have two sets of mavic ST's I did have a slight issue with the rear hub on both sets in cold weather. I think the grease was too heavy, i stripped them and lubed with a lighter grease and since then I've had no problems, superb wheels and my mates SX's are even nicer

Got a two year old Chokky here and she loves coming biking but I only take her for a local spin, she came out with the lads for a night riding session recently (wife got her an orange coat with flashing led's)and she loved it but she can hear a wrapper from 100M. Although the next day all she did was sleep. I think that short runs when its not too hot and lots of play and walks.
She loves trail building days as well but the other guys dont as she removes any sticks or branches that are put down and and runs away with them and with the big sad eyes she always gets more of the sarnnies than anyone else

My mate lost his job last year at the age of 52, he has never been unemployed before. He was treated like scum at the social even although he has paid his taxes for all those years. He was given 9 weeks to get a job or his benifits were to stop. He was livid, when he asked do the long term unemployed get treated like this he was told it was none of his business. They kept picking on my mate because they new that he would look for a job and take anything going, the whole system is shit, when is a polititian going to have enough balls to say it like it actually is. Humph!

I can jump a little but would love to be able to do bigger jumps, yesterday we went down to Whinlatter and the end of the North loop has some really good jumps, the guy in front of me was getting huge air on every jump but I jumped the first couple then I thought I was going too fast and grabbed the brakes. I would love to really give it a go, think I'll go and get some training!!!

I,ve had one for a year now and love it, its quite a well built jacket and as a result gets a little warm in mild conditions but over the winter its been great. I'm a real Gore fan now, their softshells are superb and very breathable, I really love the Cosmo windproof its been really gteat in this cold weather.

    I did have a ride on a 5.5 but now own a Tracer with 36's and a Spider 2

I tried the Tracer with a Fox 140mm fork first but its too steep and is not doing the bike justice, I now run a 36 fork fixed at 160mm and 140mm at the back, it seems too spongy if I ride with 160 at the back. The bike is amazing there is no front wheel lift and it climbs as much as my ability will let it. I recently let my mate have 4 runs down the climax trail in Wales with it, now he a top 10 scottish down hiller and he loved it he said it gripped increadibly well and the feel was great, its a top bike you wont be dissapointed.

2.35 lust High roller on front and a 2.1 lust crossmark on rear a super combination for the Tracer, the high roller gives a lot of confidence and doesn't really drag as its on the front with the speed of the crossmark on the rear, its a great tyre but not for the front

I get this feeling occasionaly and have done all my life, when I was young I used to eat a mars bar and that was fine but when I was older I went to the docs and he gave me a blood sugar level tester to check my sugar levels when it happened but they were all normal.
I did some research and discovered that a lack of protien in the morning can bring on this effect. I have always eaten breakfast but now either have eggs or nuts etc with my porridge and this has greatly improved the amount of times I suffer from it. I also carry a cereal bar everywhere now as well.

Me and a couple of mates use the new MT500 jersey and we think its one of the best from Endura, water seems to bead up on it although it would not do in a downpour its also pretty windproof and very breathable. its also really thin so can be worn as an outer layer or under a jacket. A must have really!

I tried a pair of the new Endura MT500 splash shorts on at Alpine bikes the other day, they are not fully waterproof but have waterproof panels on all the right places, there very light and very soft, they feel great. I also own the Gore AlpX paclite shorts and the Endura Event 3/4'rs, Both are superb, would like a pair of the Attacks but the small is huge, a bit poor from altura

Another one for the Tracer, its the best bike I've ever ridden, I'm only a wee chap and it climbs better than any other bike I've owned (there's been lots). Mine has 36's as its too steep with a 140mm fork and I leave it in the 140 setting at the back, it weighs just over 28lbs with mostly XT stuff and Mavic ST wheels. Wheelbase have them in their demo fleet, its best to try as many as you can first.
    Hope this helps.

The actual manufacturing process is a closely guarded secret, rubbish!

Anyway what are we all talking about, just looked at chain reaction and the new Campag waterproof is a whopping £439 so it MUST be waterproof and MUST be breathable if not how do they justify the cost.

Event is more breathable as the holes are larger but also means that its not as waterproof although I,ve never really noticed this. I have a gore fusion and an Endura event, the event is more breathable and the gore better suited to really awfull cold and wet days both are brilliant!
Having said all this I only wear them when I have to

Backhander, I spoke to the guy from Endura at the bike show in Earls court, he said the if you make the holes in the fabric bigger then it is less waterproof but more breathable and vice versa and Gore cant be that great as they sold us all up the river with their paclite fabric that was as breathable as a bin liner.

The other thing to note is that Gortex has now lost the patent or the patent has now ran out so other companies can now make the fabric and improve on it, ie Endura, their new fabric is basically a copy of Gortex but its much more breathable, their new jackets look good.

    glynP

Gortex is very waterproof but not as breathable as event, for fast sports like running or biking you must wear proper wicking fabrics below. My wife runs in her gortex jacket when it rains and although the inside of the jacket gets wet she herself is dry and I find the same with my Fusion gortex jacket. I dont think that there will ever be a totally waterproof jacket that breathes totally as well so there will always be comprimises. If you wear a good wicking fabric below the jacket then it removes the moisture from the skin and should stop the cold shivers when you stop riding. I also carry a dry base layer on big days out and it feels great when you are freezing at the top of the last climb and you slip the dry layer on.
    Hope this helps.

    Brants Quote

"I would guess there has been an alloy/alloy reaction – perhaps caused by not enough copperslip being used when fitting the headset initially (you did do that didn't you?)."

Does copper and aluminium not react in a nasty way?

I was rescued by Flipper the dolphin when I was 7 whilst in a dingy in pool in Stirling safari park, My mum recently told me it was not the same Flipper that was on the telly years ago, I was gutted!

Well mine is ok and Endura have just replaced my Event jacket after 5 years I cant say enough about them a superb company.

    glynP

Endura do a new jacket with a stealth type front with a fleecy rear, last months mag gave it a great write up, just cant remember the name.

    glynP
    Free Member

I had my Event for 5 years and Endura has just replaced it for free cos it was starting to leak but that was with 5 years hard riding, I say thats top banana from Endura a super company! I also have a stealth which is great but only for cold weather as its a little hot and I have a gore fusion (got it for half price) its a superb jacket but not as breathable as the Endura.
Endura has a new jacket with their own fabric which is the same as Gortex as the Gore patent has now ran out and anyone can make a similar type of fabric. The new one looks great value for money.
Its up to you and any waterproof will never be as breathable as a good windproof but with the correct layering there almost there.

Intense tracer, the best I've ever ridden. Runs best with a 36 160mm travel fork, mine is just under 28lbs with a sensible build although its a small so a large maybe slightly heavier. Stunning build quality
