Wow there must be a lot of fatties on here, I thought you were all fit mountain bikers, ahem! with the exception of me I only want it for reserch you understand 😳
My tracer weighed in at 27.5lbs (it is a small though) with 36’s and mostly xt stuff mavic st wheels. You could also run a little more sag on a 160mm fork as well.
Although intense say that the head angle is 69, I found the bike really steep with a 140 fox fork. I then bought a set of fox 36's and they transformed the bike. No problem on steep climbs and the bike felt more balanced on the descents. Enjoy your new bike.
Not had a puncture for two years since going tubless, its a no brainer really. Mavic st wheels with proper ust tyres though. No hassle, easy to change tyres, only thing is you get cold waiting on mates to fix punctures.
Cheers Sanny it was a good night, I would like to see more of the filming from Torridon and Skye as I spent a week up there this year and the riding is the best I've ever done.
Well done!
The shop is not recommending a 140mm fork, I tried it cos its the way I like my bikes, it was one run and now it has the supplied 120mm fork, for gods sake the point is how good the bike is, I'll just get my coat and go home and kick the dug!
Mmmm seems your right, it felt great with the forks set at 140 although there was a lot of sag and I think I was the only one who rode it like that, maybe its just me, I like em slack!
Thanks guys, I had an old Hekler and loved it, I've always had a fancy for a 5 but I'm a short arse and am inbetween a 14" and a 16" They also seem to have very long top tubes thats why the Hekler is better being a little shorter. Just wondered if they rode similar
My mate fitted an E-13 guide, not sure what one though, contact Neil at free flow bikes he has done loads. I could have done you a great deal on a new spicy at the moment. Anyway enjoy it because they are one of the best bikes available at the moment.
My first visit years ago, he got me to deliver a crackin set of wheels to some guy in Darvel, he had never met me before, very trusting. I bought two sets of wheels that are still going strong and his coffee and stories are legendary.
Top man!
The 16" is really small with a fair bit of standover, where do you live as my mate has a new bike shop and would give you a good deal if you were interested.
I've had a Lynskey (Glynskey now)ridgeline LT for a few months now and I'm loving it, although the geometry is really good for a short arse like me. Off to Drumlanrig 2nite again. Lovely bike
I am now back to paclite, although it gets wet on the inside due to sweat it has still drawn the moisture away from you, therefore wear a good wicking base layer and it will stay dry
Superb, I need to loose a stone so will need to get to work on it soon, I just dread the thought of not eating as many carbs, does your belly not rumble all the time?
I love crank bros, I find that the shimano ones are too difficult to get out of when required, I know they are very good I just prefer not to be so securely clipped in.
We were there a few weeks ago, started from the hotel and went to Luib to get the roady bit over first, from Luib you stsrt the single track which can be a bit boggy but really good. Once you get to Loch Slapin go left for 1 mile if want a really good coffee and amazing cakes at the blue hut cafe, YUM YUM! Then its on the road again and a cracking climb and descent to Camasunary. Then its 11miles of really cracking singletrack which finishes at the door of the pub! Now that a ride.
