Windy and wet autumn and a mild winter. You read it here first.

Because they are complete and utter idiots. Anyone who tries to defend not wearing a helmet is a moron.

Yip happens to me now and again. I just go off and do whatever it is that I want to do at any given time. If that doesnt include bikes then so be it.

I wonder how much, if any, economics plays a part in life and death decisions and more importantly if that changes from government to government.

I used to organise rides in the borders for folk off of here. Had some pretty decent turn outs.

With escrow is there still room for a Realman Vs Jimmy type scenario to sneak through? (whatever happened with that anyway?)

I think the MSPs are doing a great job, but the MPs should all be put in a big bag and thrown in the canal.

I am sure that a great number of posters on this forum have handles on the side of their head. What kind of mug buys something for £2000 off the classifieds on an internet forum without having a look at the thing first?

Not sure if Randonjeremy is serious or not.

Someone giving away a few billion when they are sitting on a pot of a few billion x3 – is that really philanthropy? If it was really for the good of mankind why not keep enough to live off comfortably and give the rest to mankind. I’m pretty sure $100bn would see AIDS, Cancer and Malaria wiped out pretty damn quickly.

I’m not seeing anything in there that’s more difficult than say Inners, Dalbeattie or Kirroughtree tourist routes. It’s a nice trail, but not out of this world in terms of difficulty.

Did you know that some NHS trusts limit the number of physio appointments that the physio is allowed to give you. Probably the reason why many people are unsatisfied with NHS physios. The NHS physios tend be be even more annoyed that they cant give you more treatment and are having to disharge you before they would like to.

So good physios aren’t allowed a lunch break or to go home at a decent hour….

The best physios I know work the hours they want to work and make enough money to satisfy their needs without having to work over lunch and in the evening.

Is getting an injury fixed not important enough to a) take some time off work to get it treated, b) put the effort in to strengthen stuff.

Did it a few years back and it was definitely one of the best holidays I’ve ever had. A lot of people make the mistake of breaking camp early and getting on the road early when they’re on a cycle tour. If you do that you will miss out on turning a corner to see some of the most magnificent sunsets you’ll see anywhere. I will do it again some day.

There is of course nothing to stop you doing both of Druidh’s routes within 10 days or so.

I’d be after a second opinion on that one if it was me. They might be correct with their diagnosis, but they might not be. Maybe see if they can refer you to physio.

Hmm – usual advice for OA knees is to strengthen the muscles around the knee and keep as active as possible….

What profession diagnosed it and provided the advice?

If it was my knee, I would keep on with the mtbing and forget about the knee support.

I work on the “the nursery/school can say what they like, they are my children” philosophy. Take kids out of school a couple of days before the holidays start = aye, the wee fella is ill today and wont be in.

I suspect you will find that the biggest PITA will be the school office people or as I call them – the evil gate keepers.

I had a very similar problem in a 2000 1.9tdi passat. Turned out to be a brake light indicator switch. Bit of a head wrecker that something so simple could create so many problems.

Poly, there are 76 topics to choose from ranging from, covering each sub-discipline within my subject. I am way better at mental health related stuff than I am at cardiopulmonary stuff. Choosing a MH topic would give me an easier time, but chosing a CP topic would make me get good at CP.

I will add that the missus finished the same course 10 years ago, and her dissertation is still used as the “this is what a great dissertation looks like” example.

Before setting up a registry of stw recommended physios I have a question for all of you. What makes a good physio?

Would you expect to be able to run straight out of the door for 35 minutes without building up to it? I know I wouldnt. Try starting with shorter distances and build up gradually.

This information comes through experience – I pushed on and couldnt run for about 3 years having given myself a really good dose of achilles tendinopathy in both legs.
