So say there is a couple of cars alongside you. You have to slow down before overtaking. Say two minutes earlier a HGV overtook the tractor and slowed the traffic in the outside lane, causing a queue. Unless its dead quiet you can’t expect to pass a slow vehicle at 70mph, there will always be a bit of congestion.

why is the queue still there if people are driving properly.

    Shockwave traffic jams anyone?

So cougar, I’m interested: What would you do if you were driving at 70 and aproached a tractor in LH lane doing 30 with several cars outside it all doing 50 ? There’s about 100 yards from the back of the last car to the back of the tractor.

Why are the folk in the outside lane all doing 50mph? If they were not crapping themselves at the thought of having to overtake they’d be doing 70 and the gaps would be bigger, allowing cars to merge easily therefore keeping the speed of the cars higher.

Not really. It’s a great picture though.

I may be daft, but I’m not stupid. Maybe next year.

Which part of the world is it in this year?

Dont queue. Merge like a zip, like you are supposed to do. Why have a 10 mile queue which is screwing up lots of junctions and other roads, when you can fit the same amount of cars in to less than hald the space?

instead of looking at eurocarparts for prices look at carparts4less – same company, but considerably cheaper. and most CP4L deliveries come in ECP boxes.

Pulled calg muscle would put pressure on that part of your knee when it was going into a protective spasm and tightening itself up.

Give it a couple of days to settle down then take it from there in increasing your exercise levels again. Maybe try doing your runs on a softer surface.

One thing I have never put much thought towards was who was fighting who and why in the first world war?

In fact the only thing even remotely related to WW1 we learned at school was having a “scene” in the corner of the classroom with some WW1 kit and a sign which read “Arras Hole.”

Buddy tape it to the one next to it and keep moving it within the limits of pain. Once the swelling goes down your joint will be stiff and have reduced range of movement. Once the pain goes from any movement just try gently bouncing it off the end of the range of movement and you’ll gradually get it all back.

That’s what I did, and it’s as good as new now. Takes a while for the stiffness to go though.

Reading David Millar’s book at present and he says that there is still a reasonable sized doping culture in the sport, but that a lot of it is down to the deliberate misuse of the therapeutic use expemtion certificate or whatever its called.

That is indeed it. Reading it just shows the extent of what was going on. Pretty convincing stuff.

Interesting question and I have no answer to it that I am 100% confident in being correct with.

I’d suspect that the law would err on the side of caution and that they would not be fit to supervise you.

Give the DSA a phone and see what they say.

As an aside – the pass rates for people who have only been taught be relatives are significantly higher than those who have had driving lessons with a professional instructor.

For over 30 years I have dedicated my life to cycling. I have always been determined to compete at the highest level, in one of the most physically demanding sports. With hard work and success have come great blessings from the sport I love.

Teammates have become dear friends and I have worked hard to earn the respect of my competitors. I have been associated with managers and team officials whose professionalism is unparalleled. Wonderful fans have supported my family and me since I began this great journey. For all of this and more, I am truly grateful and proud.

Because of my love for the sport, the contributions I feel I have made to it, and the amount the sport of cycling has given to me over the years, it is extremely difficult today to acknowledge that during a part of my career I used banned substances. Early in my professional career, it became clear to me that, given the widespread use of performance enhancing drugs by cyclists at the top of the profession, it was not possible to compete at the highest level without them. I deeply regret that choice and sincerely apologize to my family, teammates and fans.

Quietly, and in the way I know best, I have been trying to rectify that decision. I have competed clean and have not used any performance enhancing drugs or processes for the past six years. Since 2006, I have been working hard within the sport of cycling to rid it of banned substances. During this time, I continued to successfully compete at the highest level of cycling while mentoring young professional riders on the right choices to make to ensure that the culture of cycling had changed.

About two years ago, I was approached by US Federal investigators, and more recently by USADA, and asked to tell of my personal experience in these matters. I would have been much more comfortable talking only about myself, but understood that I was obligated to tell the truth about everything I knew. So that is what I did.

Cycling has made remarkable gains over the past several years and can serve as a good example for other sports. Thankfully, the use of performance enhancing drugs is no longer embedded in the culture of our sport, and younger riders are not faced with the same choice we had.

I am proud to be part of the cycling community, and believe we continue to make positive changes to our sport. I applaud the extraordinary achievements of my fellow riders on and off the bike. Cycling is an incredible sport that not only requires unbelievable physical ability to ride hundreds of miles a day for many days on end; it also requires a certain type of dedication, ambition and character. I have been fortunate to compete with teammates whose commitment and talent will be hard to match. As a rider I have dedicated a large part of my career to helping those teammates succeed. As I begin the next chapter in my cycling life, I look forward to playing a significant part in developing, encouraging and helping young riders to compete and win with the best in the world.

See, I didnt say that I didn’t know what they are. What I said was “I am not 100% certain I know what they are”. Subtle difference, but different nonetheless.

The reason I posted this thread is that I see the term used all the time, but cant for the life of me think of a place where the definition in my head actually exists.

The biggest bit of skill that he showed there was the yway he ditched the bike and kept himself in a reasonable position to protect his head and spine. Smaller gap jump may have killed him.
