where are you riding glupton? & when?

Depending on the weather and the notion I have for visiting certain parts of the country I’ll be heading from Edinburgh to Campbeltown, Oban, Iona, Ardnamurchan, Mallaig, maybe into Knoydart (for a two day hike a bike if the weather suits) or through Skye if the weather doesn’t, Kyleakin, Applecross, Torridon, Fisherfield to climb a munro or two, Ullapool, Sandwood Bay, Tongue, then head back down to Inverness, and back to Edinburgh via the Cairngorms and the Fife coast.

Or, it’s amazing how much of the fun can be squeezed out of it if you try hard enough…

There’s absolutely no link between fun had and money spent. Fun is losing yourself in a ride, stopping wherever takes your fancy, following your nose and exploring this wonderful country that we have.

Since we have one of the lowest level of road deaths in the world, what is an acceptable rate?

Zero would do for a start.

My point is that you’ll be so hungry you’ll need 3 courses!

What you need there is an Audax Picnic (TM)

For a comparison – I’m doing a two week tour, maybe upto 18 days if the weather is on my side. My budget for that is around £10-15/day. It’s amazing how little it can cost you if you’re slumming it.

The cycling round Edinburgh is great on the paths that Scotroutes mentioned – the castle and all the other touristy things will be there the next time he’s up….

if he goes on to win this years tour it will be a much bigger achievement than what Wiggins did last year.
    why’s that then?

much harder route and the support team is not as strong. i.e. he doesnt have a rider better than him to hide behind.

Here’s the thing. If part of the sun was on fire, would the rest of the sun be hot enough (or whatever it needs to be) to produce enough oxygen to allow that fire to burn?

You can get baby grows which have a wee pocket like thing on the end of the sleeves which you fold over to make a mitt to stop them scratching their self.

Jam a screwdriver in the key slot and give it a quarter turn. The bit that is attached to the lock pulls out a bit – you then turn that to undo the bolts that hold the rack on.

    You have three options:
Speed up slowly and make them go pop,
Gently decrease your speed and see how slow you need to be going before they overtake,
Start looking for potholes and bunny hop them at the last moment with no hand signals.

George, what does the percentage on the graph represent please?

It’s relative pressure through the disc.

What I”m about to tell you isnt strictly true, but it’ll do. The big gap down the middle of your x-ray is a tunnel that carries the spinal cord. At the level of every disc branches come off of it and go and do stuff to certain segments of the body – the beginning of those branches are called nerve roots. If the disc bulges into the tunnel those nerve roots get compressed and cause pain, numbness or weakness. The narrow level that you pointed out is L5-S1 – the bottom of your lumbar spine and the start of your sacrum.

I’d be going for nerve root compression at L5-S1 caused by damaged disc. The two levels above it aren’t looking too clever either though.

My local GP surgery has an incredible amount of DNAs. After a year of living here I noticed this and now whenever I need to see the GP I just go in and ask if they have any “cancellations” and get seen within 10 minutes.

Hmm – that looked like a blue graded trail at most. The guy would have got on better if he stood up. I’m sure it would have to be a wind up. Nobody is that bad on a bike.
