if this frame failed due to “too many pies”, it’s clearly not fit for purpose.

Or the rider is not fit. For purpose, obviously.

Face it, enough seatpost or not, there were too many pies involved in this incident.

Band: Neil Ying and Crazy Horse. Artist: Neil Young. Actually, Led Zeppelin are all the band you’ll ever need and more.

Rise of The Planet of the Apes wasn’t poo poo.

    It was!

I quite liked Sunshine and also Event Horizon. Gattaca suprised me too, as did Solaris – both films I really enjoyed, staying on the space theme.

Roadies. It’s a disability I suppose, and not a personality type though.

It looks pretty decent – even if it isn’t any good, it’s still going to be the best film I’ve seen at the pictures since Lord of the Rings.

it took an hour each morning just to start the engine.

My old Suzuki was like that too – tickling those carbs became a bit of a chore.

I got a 20 quid ebay torch and a 6 quid headlamp and they’re more than enough for night riding.

The torch came with a charger and two batteries, bargain.

Despite what some muppets will tell you, you can get a light that’s easily up to the job of night riding for comfortably under £100.

£26 for me. Although I do only ride on my own.

Have a looky at this thread for inspiration:

Sorry is this the edingburgh defence or are you just saying you don’t care?

    I don’t understand the question.

the DS bearing is effectively loose, you don’t tighten the crank down onto it at all.

This. They really are a bit weird to work out when you first put them on, but it makes sense and seem to work ok once the non drive side is tightened.

I’ll have a look at mine when I get in this morning and look for a gap.

    I’ve got my tickets booked.

I also wouldn’t mind seeing Milli, now that Vanilli is no longer with us. Or was it Milli that passed on? Either way, I’d like to see Milli, or Vanilli.

I used one of those pipe cutters yesterday on a steerer on a set of Bombers – it worked a treat. Try Wilkinsons if you have one nearby, they’re only about £4 quid in there.

I remember the mountain bike mags raving about them in about 2005 ish, they won all the awards and recommendations from MBR I think, then for some reason went out of favour or just went off the radar. Always liked the look of them, but never ridden one.

That’s a lie actually, I have actually got a Mongoose full sus, but it’s an Amplifier from 1995. The back end is flexy, but it is light. I don;t think that’s the one you’re interested in though. 8)

Glue does have shelf life. I once tried took a tube of glue from my box of bits to replace the used up one I carry on the bike. When it became necessary to use it I squeezed the apparently unused tube and NOTHING came out. The whole tube had evaporated leaving a perfectly formed tube behind. Must have been years old.

Just think, that ghost glue is around somewhere, haunting the bicycle graveyard. Maybe.

Don’t get me wrong, a steel xc bike with the right geo and the right degree of compliance can feel lovely.

That’ll be my 2002 Kona Lava Dome then.

It still is 2006 in my head. Maybe earlier.

I don’t really go by what year something is – bikes and bits either work, or they don’t.

Half a degree here and there in a head angle means about the same as a different coloured frame, for all the difference it makes to me.
