When it’s ticking over does the exhaust smell rich?

How new is the spark plug? And HT lead?

I bought a laser printer for the exact same reasons but decided to get a mono one – £60 for a Brother wireless.

Back when I had Cavaliers, you’d to program the windows to learn where the top and bottom were by pressing and holding the control for several seconds after the window had got to the extent of the travel.

You could tell when they were set correctly as the control would full-click to open / close all the way rather than stop when you released the button.

I can’t remember offhand whether that was a requirement for the remote open / close to work, but it wouldn’t surprise me.

Yeah, my Mondeo was the same – pretty certain the global opening/closing wouldn’t work until it had learnt the window up/down positions (if, for example, the battery had been disconnected for whatever reason).

When I say “try that” I mean lowering and raising each window in turn using the one-touch up/down thing.

Has the battery been disconencted recently?

I seem to recall the car having to “learn” the window positions for the one-shot up/down thing. Try doing that on each window and trying again maybe?

Indeed – I suggest you read the article carefully as there’s always a risk!

I’ve tried it and it seems to work ok – and yes, only OS updates.

Agreed – if you’re in Knaresborough for a night out Ferrensby is just not an option on foot!

Pub wise – second Blind Jacks – great pub, albeit small – but cracking real ale. The Mitre down by the train station is good and The Cross Keys just off the market place is also very good. Market Tavern is not great.

Curry – as mentioned, my faves are Spice Merchant and Zolsha – the latter just has the edge IMO.

Sometimes hard to find a decent stream though.

woody is correct – TC and ABS will both struggle with severe loss of traction. They do the best they can – but ultimately if there is no traction then it can't "magic" grip from out of nowhere.

And just to confirm ESP is different from TC – if your car has TC then it doesn't necessarily have ESP.

I’ll second Hadleys – very nice from there.

Also there is a lovely little fish smokery up a little street past the steps up to the Abbey.[

That’ll be Fortunes – the best kippers you can buy! Although the shop doesn’t open for long so be prepared to find it closed!
