My local riding spot, some really nice single track, a little tricky to find but worth it, it struggles a bit when wet as doesn’t drain to well, also some good single track across the road ( south of whiteways), would show you around sat but off to brechfa for 5 days on sat am, if your that way again pm me and could hook up for a ride?

Moniex, loving that picture, thats the sort of thing that make me feel good about mountain biking, he looks chuffed as **** so good to see young kids out enjoying our great sport/hobbie (especially with all the protective kit).

Toys19 also a good picture, I bet the landing was all floaty lite? 😉

Same weight as you and was blowing through the travel on my Devinci Dixon too easily, fitted the medium size fox reducer (piece of p1ss to fit and some good you tube footage available on how to do it, didnt need to take shock off the bike). Made a huge difference, can set the sag correctly without blowing through all the travel too easily, well worth the £20 for the kit (kit comes with 3 different size reducers and fox fluid)

Yup, 46 years old good job, family, etc, no money worries, constant craving for going out riding (mtb or road), surfing, running and feel miserable a **** when I don’t go out, got various different groups of mates who I can ride with but increasingly getting bored of the same old stuff. Used to try and plan my weekend around riding/surfing and tbh feel very selfish a lot of the time as I should be concentrating on the family and spending time with them, It’s a fine balance between family time and getting out on the bike and as my job is very demanding and I regularly do a 50+ hour week all I want to do at the weekend is go out and get my ‘fix’. For me I am trying to get some quality weekend trips planned ( lakes, Wales, etc) as well as a few enduros to keep me focused and then do a few late eve rides when kids are in bed so I can free up weekends for quality family time and if there are a few spare hours over the weekend that I can get out then so be it. All sounds very me me me but after suffering from severe depression for a number of years and medication not really working for me getting out on the bike really helps clear my head.

I would love to see 8ft waves in the witterings that are surf able on a SUP, lived and surfed in the witterings for over 20 years and yet to see it, possibly at kimeridge on the rare days that it works.

Vented jawbones with photochromic lenses and a clear set of lenses for nite riding and dull days, in fact went to the Oakley second shop in Portsmouth this afternoon and picked up another pair with iridium lenses and spare clears for just over £70.

Duir, my frame is a medium and on the digital scales is a smidge under 29 lb, freeborn are my LBS so spend a lot of time in there (my 5th devinci now) and fitted the reducer after a discussion with Paul and Joe, totally agree with the bb ht and would love to lower this a bit, my only other complaint is the paint is crap and scratches too easily, also got a 2011 Wilson with the same paint which is even worse.

Would like to know how you get on with the offset shock bushings?

User removed, we had a family holiday in Brela a few years ago, was superb, nice clean hotel, food pretty good but even better in local restaurants, really nice relaxing beach holiday ( I don’t normally enjoy this sort of holiday), did a fantastic river trip and boat stopped off at a local restaurant at the end of the river, food was cooked al fresco, would recommend Brela as a destination.

My Dixon with fox36, Easton haven wheels, reverb, 1×10 weighs just under 29lb, not sure what the frame/shock weighs but it’s a very good bike, if you do get one make sure you pick up a rear shock volume adjuster spacer as the standard shock seemed to blow through the travel too easily.

Canfield nimble 9 or Canfield yelli frames, nimble is 120mm and yelli is 140mm fork compatible frame, superb geometry for a 29er, custom build from Charlie the bike Monger.

My nimble is running 120mm forks, 1×10 SRAM/White industries drive chain and some nice chunky tyres, handles superbly and much better than other 29 ers that I have tried. null

Brought mine new last sept its a 140bhp GT blue motion DSG Scirocco and love it, can get my large Devinci Wilson in the back with the front wheel off no problems even with the boxxers, my trail and road bikes fit in a lot easier. Did look at getting a roof rack but also got the wifes SRi Zaferia for main bike duties.

Getting almost 50mpg on my mainly A road and motorway commute, not loads of power but a good fun car to drive. Looks are a bit marmite to some but I likes it 😀

Another one to consider is the Canfield Nimble 9, just got one from Charlie the Bike Monger and its superb, quite slack geometry with short chainstays and sliding drop outs. Finish is superb and very similar colour to the Kermit Green Niner above.

Devinci Dixon owner here and love it, 142mm rear spacing so think you can convert the Hope hub? Saying that do like the look of that Chumba Evo though.

Dixon builds into a nice 28lbish all rounder with a set of Fox 36’s got mine set at 150mm and its a sweet handling bike.

Canfield nimble 9 worth a look? Charlie the bike monger is doing the can fields (nimble 9 and yelli)

Just brought a canfield nimble 9 from Charlie the bike monger, similar geometry to the yeli but steel rather than alu, it going to be run as a 1×10 with 120mm fox float up front. Did originally want the yeli but they rant available at the moment, think the next batch of yeli frames are due in a few months. Nimble has short chain stays for a 29er with reasonably slack geometry, should be a hoot on the trails?

Brought brand new vw scirocco last sept, and love it, not the best for putting bikes in but can get my dh bike in there with the wheels off, get about 50mpg, also got the wife a SRI vauxhall zafira which is great for carting the family around, petrol though so only 25mpg

Skated throughout my childhood and also through my 20s/30s, bought my son and I a Lush Bahari long board each a few years ago, 46 now and was skating along the sea front in Brighton with son when I went past a group of about 10 women, heard one of them quite loudly say ‘did you see that old guy on the skateboard, he ought to grow up’ did make me chuckle as could imagine her husband/bfriend being some fat, footyloving beer/couch monster. I couldn’t give a tuppenny f&ck what others think, if me and my son are spending some quality time and having fun it’s all good to me 😀

25 miles in the glorious sunshine around Chichester and Goodwood on the ss rigid swift on my own, felt really good to be out with stunning views across Chichester harbour and over to isle of wight and reasonably warm in the sun. Linked up loads of bridal ways that I have never done before and have now got a nice little xc loop together, not fast or techy but good fun, what a quality day 😀

46years young and been mountain biking since 1988 and cannot get enough of it, have had a few wobbles over the years but a few weeks off and I really start to miss it, it has been such a positive thing in my life that I can’t think of ever giving it up( despite breaking arms 5 times, shattering my right leg in numerous places and a broken clavicle), just can’t get enough 😀

Have met so many good friends through biking (and one or two absolute bell ends) but mostly fellow bikers are a cool bunch and can’t think of any other ‘sport’ (surfed for 25 odd years – miserable bunch, locals only, etc.) that makes you grin from ear to ear whilst covered in mud, still get a buzz from rides days after. OP, Take a few weeks off and hopefully the buz will come back?

Was thinking the same for my scirocco, 2 doors plus rear side windows, I am sure that Thule do a foot pack for the 3 door golf/scirocco. Try UK Roofracks?

Cheers CTBM and Clink for the replies.

Have put a deposit down with CTBM’s man servant for med Nimble 9 on the next batch in, have read every review I can find and checked geometry, dimensions, etc against my other bikes and all seem pretty cool geo/size wise, doesn’t seem to be any negative reviews?

Going to run it with 1×10 and 100mm fork either RS Reba or Fox F100 both with thru axle and a set of pro2 evos laced to Crest Arch rims, should be sweet!

Sounds like a right miserable bunch to leave someone on their own, to be honest there have been numerous groups out to Bubion when we have been and most of them didn’t want to socialise and made a real effort to be rude to other groups. First time out with switch-backs DH and we met up with 4 guys who had all come out on their own, ended up being a group of 10 of us and all mucked in together, reet good laugh.

Very surprised at your comments regarding switch-backs AM, as been out to bubion with mike every year for the last 6 years, always found accom, guiding, food very good, have always gone out in a group so can imagine that going solo can be a bit of a lonesome affair if the others in the accom are not sociable.

Have also been out to switch-backs DH 3 times and a fourth planned with Toys19 and others in April, the accom and après biking is very good as everything is pretty close and if you can hook up with other guests a good meal/ pee up can be had, trails are superb and well worth a visit.
