Very sad news indeed. Was pleased to shake his hand a few times at the end of SITS. RIP.

I’m in too and very happy at that – nightmare for the HONC team with the EC system crashing – think they’ve done a great job in sorting out what should have been a simple process for all. Good luck to all with entries still pending.

Have done an hour on the turbo today and will do an hour on the turbo tomorrow. Not tooooo bad I suppose.

I’ve just got a Tacx Flow and it’s doing the same thing – lots of vibration but mainly through the handlebars, noticeable at low revs then more so when I put some effort it. It’s on a yoga mat on a concrete floor in the garage so little reason for it otherwise. Scarily my knackered old hypermag is lots quieter and smoother! Oh well – happy days and back to Wiggle I think . . . .

I rode it on a hardtail last year, didn’t need a full sus IMHO. Fancied doing it on a CX but I’d have to buy one first :-)

Rome is just beautiful – you’ll love it. The Villa Borghese itself has a superb gallery with some amazing art on display including an incredible statue of Apollo and Daphne, if that’s your bag. I loved the history of the vatican too, same with the colosseum. La Pergola is a superb restaurant (3 michelin stars) but you seriously pay for that, alternately try Il Bacaro which is a nice little romantic spot. Enjoy!!

Nespresso is okay and does the job. For good, no fuss espresso I use ese pods – you can get them from http://www.espressocrazy.com and look at http://www.garraways.co.uk too – waitrose also do them – all at around 20p per espresso. Illy ones cost 32p so too much IMHO. Really good espresso without the grounds or hassle – if that’s all you drink then highly recommended in my view. Machines are easily available too. The illy iperespresso is superb but again expensive – look at the francisfrancis X7 for that.

You know you want a new toy for Xmas really :-)

+1 for Lagavulin 16yrs and Caol Ila 12 yrs – both are lovely, have agreat aroma and are very peaty. The Talisker distillers edition is lovely too.

Here too – utterly depressing stuff. The driver wasn’t seriously harmed, driving whilst already banned. Hope the key gets thrown away.

Ruptured achilles tendon. No riding for me post-op for at least three months so at least expect to be safe at home :-(

Both are good but illy is better IMHO. Illy is however rather expensive in my view. As for espresso machines Lakesrider, the guys at espressocrazy.com are selling the francisfrancis X7 that uses iperespresso pods – http://www.espressocrazy.com/machines/for_new_iperespresso_capsules/francis_francis_x7_iperespresso_machine/25/ which are pretty good, clean to use but not too cheap. I just like espresso without the fuss to be honest!

Well – had the operation today and am at home starting the long road to recovery. Looking forward to the kielder 100 next year. Seems a long way off :-)

    Thanks Haze,

Conservative repair does mean 3 months in a full cast at least, with one friend having spent 5 months in one but he’s a little older than me. I’ll just take it easy – it’ll take it’s own time to heal so no riding for me :-( Roll on Autumn and Winter then!

    Oh.

Oh well – will see how it goes then! That’s possibly the last time I have a little game of tennis :-) There are clear risks to the op – the consultant didn’t explain the risks in quite as much detail with references as Dr Death and JonM! (I googled the research mentioned above – fascinating and yikes!)

I’ll take it easy – am waiting for the op and am aiming to maybe make the bonty 24/12 and the kielder 100 again next year!

Hi Guys – thanks for that. It is a total rupture – I watched the ultrasound scan on Monday. The Doctor moved my foot up towards my knee and I watched the two ends separate. He then moved the foot down and they came back together again. Yuk. I’m super keen to get riding again but safely – so will heed the warnings and work on my patience. That turbo trainer will look very sexy by February though :-)

I’ve been looking at these to replace my XT’s – do you know if Avid supply piston kits, spare seals etc in case of needing to rebuid, rather than just replace the caliper??? THX!

Hi all, I’ve been looking at Elixirs as an alternative to my shimano brakes – is this a common problem? Do you rate the elixir’s on their performance and ease of rebuilding \ sourcing new pistons etc.?? Thanks!

It’s massively important to me – I like getting out on the road bike (not such a fan of cars though) and really love getting out on the MTB – be it bridleways, trail centres, endurance events or whatever. Just love it. If I don’t get out I get irritable, feel lethargic and keeps me sane. I wish my other half rode as well – but space can be a good thing!

I've had no end of problems with HMRC – I have to say the staff I've spoken to have been very helpful indeed – fair play to them for dealing with a very difficult job. As for Captain COCK, aka Dave Hartnett – the sooner that useless sack of gizzards resigns the better.

    IGM Iain Miller – you're a hero.

I'm the guy with the blown tubeless who was facing a 6 mile walk to the next water station and I couldn't have fixed that valve without your help – I'm very grateful indeed. I was looking our for you at the end of the race to get you a pint but couldn't find you!

Your 5 minute stop helped to make my 800 mile round trip worthwhile.

I also have to admit that the views were well worth admiring. I hope to see you at the event next year!

    Sincere thanks again.

Drac – you're right and I was a VERY happy bunny indeed! I've burnt my rim strips and I'm going to stick with tubes now as well :-) Thanks again Drac – I really appreciated the tech support on hand when it mattered most.

I've used them for 3 years now and they're fantastic. As mentioned above they don't shift quite as well as Shimano but last much longer – well worth it and highly recommended!!
