Nothing more annoying than getting comfy at an outdoor table, getting your hot food served and suddenly fat mr nobody sits down with either his useless wife or his fat mate and starts puffing away on their cancer sticks.

How people that dumb can be allowed to mix in with society is beyond me!

Alrigh David, long time no chat.

Your main problem there is Kwik Fit. Take it somewhere else and do not listen to their advice, never go there again.

    My opinion of course!

I have a sit on top which I use out on the coast a lot. Wat are you looking to learn on a course? It can generally all be picked up much better from a club of some sort.

Check wilderness scotland etc if you want some practise.

OR, get a powerboat or a RIB…chances are the family will love it! I am in the market for a 25-30 knot 5m powerboat again now that I am about to move into a house with plenty storage space. It is a great hobby, just getting out on the water one way or another. Not as exensive as some suggest.

I think driving should be made more and more difficult… get more cars off the roads and we’ll be a step towards being a more sustainable society.

I’m sure we all live in the UK… no? Scotland is as much part of this conversation as England. Maybe the title should be “Where does the north of England start”…

Oban…beyond that you get the real north, not the Londoners north.

2tyred/coffeeking, I’m moving to Torrance, just bought a house there, and should be in by Mid May, so I might hook up with you for the commute. I try not to get too sweaty on the ride on though! I’m possibly going to be drawn in to cycling with the girlfriend for a bit first though, and the route along the canal to Balmore Road Bridge is the one I’ll be taking, starting at the road bridge near the Torrance Roundabout.

I lived in shawlands for a while but am now moving north as soon as we can get our flat sold (currently in mosspark). For renting, shawlands is great. Look to hector road and surrounding area for peace and quiet and very spacious flats.

I’m going to be buying somewhere in Lenzie / Torrance area…quite good fun going up there to check places out!

    Good luck

No beer…what area are you thinking of exploring? Give me a shout when you do…obviously it will likely be when this weather is a little warmer and the fish feeding more actively.

    Cheers

erm… firstly, you do get modern cup and cones, and secondly, non cup and cone doesn’t mean a disposable hub. Look at hope…if, after 5 years use, the bearings do happen to need changed (which they may not), you just change the bearings for a few quid. The hub can last forever. What you mean is non-serviceable bearings surely.

Ah, I read the clamp was ABOVE one of the bottle bosses, not over, sorry!

FWIW I had an XC120 and used an XT low swing mech and didn’t encounter this. The clamp was above the bottle boss and worked perfectly in this position.

How are you arriving at your ‘correct position’? To me it seems obvious it isn’t the correct position if it’s hitting the chainstay! I suggest you put up with it being ‘too high’, assuming it gives perfectly clean quiet normal shifting in this wrong position. ;o)

You can write to the ‘joint administrators’ for a refund, and hope they give you one!
