I can’t stand seeing this type of thing going on in our country. NTS have turned themselves into villains right away.

I knew Bolt wouldn’t win, though I predicted it’d be under 9.9 for the winner so not quite on target.

Gatlin has become the villain, but the public love that, whether they realise it or not. They also show how little they know about athletics at times with all their booing..

It’s great to see distance races become a main event with someone the public adore. Loved seeing his wife’s reaction as he won.

Bolt won’t win, the 100m will go 9.8something.

    Laura Muir a bronze.

We got good quality quickstep laminate and it’s really impressive. Watching our 3 year old drag chairs across it several times a day I’m bloody glad it’s not solid or engineered.

Wish we’d removed the skirtings before fitting it though. Didn’t even think of it as we were new to it all and in the middle of a big renovation, and now we’ve got those wooden ugly beads to look at.

When I’m driving with just the wee boy in the back I take off the front passenger headrest and lean the seat back and the wee guy feels like he’s up front with dad! Wish they made a roomster with a boot 2ft longer.

I’ve sat in the back with the boy whilst wife drives and it’s bloody great. If I get some bodywork heavy tiny windowed modern sporty estate or suv the passengers experience is akin to a sardine in a windowless tin

Butter on first regardless, and I use anchor spreadable which is one of the nicest butter things I’ve come across.

    Ingredients:

Anchor Butter (54%) (Milk), Rapeseed Oil (33%), Water, Salt (1.1%), Colour: Beta Carotene.

You sound like you like butter, but look! You’re being cheated of almost half your buttery goodness.

    Buy a butter dish.
    Have full flavour spreadable butter

Sometimes you’d think nobody ever tries or experiences things for themselves on this forum wouldn’t you?

BUT…always let the toast cool down a bit before spreading so some of the butter doesn’t melt, I love eating those creamy blobs.

Mowers are like vans….”too big” just isn’t a thing.

Although if it’s hand pushed I’d avoid a 21″. And self propelled means more things to go wrong.

How big is the lawn? Honda engines do tend to run and run and run. I’d be happy with an 18″ Honda for a medium sized lawn, I’d say anything 250m2 or over I’d want petrol but I’ve no patience for watching an electric mower struggle with grass! Turn a 45 minute job into a 5 minute one and enjoy a beer with the spare time. Plus a petrol will cut wet grass better so you don’t even need to wait for a bone dry day

Know all about holding sharks…this one was a wriggler and that was a grab just before it got chucked back as it didn’t want to pose!

Sea fishing does attract some nuggets, but they know they’re nuggets. Fly fishing attracts nuggets who don’t even realise it!

Shore bass/hounds are probably my favourite game

Mackerel have scales. And tiny pants.

Fly fishing is for people who like wearing rubber and tweed, eating quail and have a landrover despite living in a new estate in falkirk.

    This is fishing

Or plopping a big crab bait over a kelp bed in 3ft of water for a double figure cod or jigging pollok on light gear. Getting keen again!

One of my most memorable sessions was a night cod session at arbroath. Everyone had gone home as the tide had left the prom, but I got the waders on and followed it out. Casting into what must have been 18″ of water into a steady rolling wave I was getting lightning bites 30 seconds after the bait hitting the water, and landed 20 odd cod in 2 hours or so.

Easiest way to kill a mackerel properly dead, avoiding the vibrofits that throw scales everywhere, is to put your thumb in it’s mouth, against the roof, and snap that head back 90 degrees. Gut it right away to keep the meat clean, or leave it whole if it’s going to be bait ?

Wives love nothing more than a man coming home stinking of fish guts.

Spent a few winters leaving home a couple times a week at midday to fish the cliffs between Arbroath and Aberdeen in storms and getting home at 2-4am. Couldn’t muster the energy for that nonsense any more!

Maggots are the best way I’ve found for trout, they will outfish worm because fish don’t bite off the ends of the worm and miss the hook. So, as above, a shortish spinning rod, a 4000 size fixed spool, I’d go with 8-10lb line as you will get snagged on rushes and ferns etc and it helps get more gear back. A couple of large ssg shot, or a small pinch of lead as a weight about 2ft above a hook (size 10 or so). You can then drop the rig into little pools, just at the edge of the main flow of rivers. Keep the line ‘tight’, just not loose coils billowing in the wind, don’t always strike at the first nibble…give them a chance to give a couple of tugs before you wind into them.

If the Tay is fly only I’d not bother…fly fishing is weird. And salmon rods aren’t expensive because they’re stronger…they’re expensive because of the pomp that surrounds salmon fishing.

Look for some little hill lochs and try fishing for brownies there. You can often find lochs that aren’t controlled, so free fishing, and nobody else about if you hike a distance to them.

Don’t worry about Reversing Sensors, get one of these. Best £19 I’ve spent.

I work alone and often don’t even talk to a soul all day. Had days where I’ve not uttered a word from waking up to home at dinner time.

I can’t stand all the ar*e kissing I see a lot of people (especially young females) do in the office. But it does get them somewhere.

It gets boring when keyboard geeks just go tit for tat trying to explain the ways in which the other person is wrong. A couple of mods do this quite regularly.

    Big yawns.

Stove, that’s the word I was looking for. Peg bits may be in that tin, I didn’t check the rusty gubbins properly!

Anyone enjoy restoring and polishing useless bits of guff?

You might as well say “bikes, with wheels, which one should I buy?”.

What kind of fishing do you want to do? How small does the rod need to pack? Budget?

Not cheap, but artificial grass really would be much better. Any turf that gets a lot of footfall turns to mud quickly. If you seed it the lawn will be thinly rooted for up to 2 years and be even more susceptible to damage.

What about lawnmowers…how can grounds firms cut acres of grass all day based on weedy electric things that last an hour? ?

He’s been at the childminder all day and she says he’s not stuttered once! Yet everything he’s saying at home this evening has been affected.

We’re both more comfortable in the knowledge it’s likely to pass, thanks.

I lost my job after redundancies and have been running my.own business ever since.

I now work 3 days a week, 9 months a year and take home more than I did when employed. I can support the family on my own, but as my wife works (4 days a week in public sector) we manage to save.

Still would prefer my 3 month break to be in the summer, not winter, but I can handle that!

molgrips that was a mistype – I meant hope it doesn’t stem from a lack of confidence.

We don’t draw attention to it at all as I know how that felt when I used to do it, and always give him time to speak and finish what he says. We’re getting him into classes, sports clubs and so on so he has lots of interaction. His baby sister (6 months) is a great wee toy for him and he interacts with her constantly too.

Just the severity of it sometimes strikes us, things like “where you going daddy”, the “wher-” can be repeated for a good 5-8 seconds.

Absolutely agree with ensuring confidence. Any time he says he can’t do something I sit down, look at him and gently tell him he can, and I’ll give him another chance to do it himself then I’ll help as little as I can in order for him to achieve whatever he’s trying to achieve. Little pep talks during the day too, we both tell him how good/clever/capable he is, how his little sister looks up to him and wants to be like him, how he can make friends with anyone if he is nice to them and so on.

I wonder if any of the telling offs that he gets for bad behaviour have an affect on the stutter? I’ve no idea.

I’ve been watching quite a lot of it, and in most events there are enough different global competitors to make them do heats to whittle down the numbers for a final medal-winning race.
Rather like regular able-bodied athletes, in fact.
    POSTED

Yep, and look at the variation in ability in those heats.

How many good male T11 middle distance runners do you think there are in the world vs healthy senior men? 1%? Probably much less.

    glasgowdan

I don’t really care…i can’t help but find para sport boring simply due to the tiny levels of global competition each athlete must face compared to regular sport.

The sum of money isn’t relevant – the school deciding they want to keep it is the issue! Damn cheek. I’d tell them to return it for you to trace the owner as you see fit. If they don’t I would absolutely send an email to the local paper.
