I think the name has a lot to do with it. Old clueless types still think it’s a quality brand, because it sounds like a name they can trust.

You lot any idea how snobby you sound?

Yeah, almost as snobby as trying to get an aesthetically pleasing microwave oven.

    Lindor however… mmmm baby!

I agree about the continental specialist thing. Best thing I ever put in my mouth was some choc (very expensive) from a shop in Amsterdam. They know how to do it over there.

Even if this were true, it’s not the same chocolate.

So she buys not vat-able items, they have a bit of markup then account for 50% of what she charges her clients. Obviously there’s no VAT element to the client on this 50% of their bill. Her service is charged at 20% of the other 50%…or 10% on the total bill.

She’d only need to raise her prices 10% to maintain her financial position, given that she claims back the VAT on products bought, AND a nice bonus at the start with claiming back all the VAT she has spent in the last 3 years.

She’s one of those rock women that I’ve always adored. Some of their songs really stir the soul. Properly shed a tear a wee while ago when i heard this.

She’ll join Bowie, Jacko, Prince as proper “moments” whenever i hear their songs in future.

I think she’s left a few kids motherless. Unimaginable.

    People take forum chatter seriously???

My point is that when the seller replies and says “yes”…these people vanish and don’t enquire any further. It’s like an urge to know that something’s still for sale for the sake of it.

I think the op is having the same thing I did. Loads is it still for sale?

Fair enough but you reply “yes £10 and it’s yours” and then nothing they never reply so why ask?

You’re the only one that gets it!

Yes… i reply and say ‘yes’, then silence!

You can lay turf any time as long as you can physically unroll the turf without it being frozen.

Not keen on using a roller to gently compact the soil though. You may find small hollows forming as it gets foot traffic in the spring. Easy enough to fill them with soil though

Yep. No idea why this junction renders people unable to drive!

It’s a busy junction at commuting time. If you waited for all the indicating cars to start their turn before you pull out you’d be there several minutes and the tailback would be horrendous.

Called insurance to log the details. Other driver due to phone to see if we can sort it

Ok, do I need to phone my insurance company about this? Not sure, given I am not making a claim.

If you look at that and instantly think “oh dear that’s racist because he’s black”, then you are indeed racist.

A lot of people only get out 1-2x a week which isn’t enough. You really have to throw yourself into it.

World record for 5k is 12:37 (that’s 3 consecutive sub 4 minute miles,

That’s on the track. Informal road world record is only 13 mins! ?

    glasgowdan

I trained 6 days a week most weeks and got down to 15:15. Granted, i was 16 and a lot fitter than now! But what gets you faster is teaching your legs to turn over faster and not give up.

Measure a 2k course, or enter some shorter runs. At least once a week do intervals between 3-800m.

BUT, if you’re not used to it, take it very easy to begin with. Do a proper warm up that lifts your heart rate right up.

Something like 4x800m at target 5k race pace, 2 min jog recovery between. Or 6x400m faster.

20min should be absolutely achievable for you. Don’t forget hill sessions. Even a short 4k fast run with as many hills as possible over a set route. Aim to finish the last hill on your knees ?

Isn’t “how many showers per week” a simpler question, for the sake of avoiding decimals?

I shower before bed as I like a clean sleep :)

Never even thought about the condition of my skin. But that’s not the kind of person I am anyway. I may have accidentally got some moisturiser on my hands once. I washed it off right away.

They have planted a beech hedge 18″ their side of the wall… it could work in my favour if i remove the wall and don’t put anything in it’s place!

    glasgowdan

Yeah I’m hoping to catch up with the chap and suggest we go 50-50 to remove the whole thing. Or if he pays for a skip I’ll do it in a day’s work.

    We’ll see!

The plans don’t specify the boundary as far as I can tell. I’ll dig around and see if I’ve got anything. The plans definitely don’t show enough detail to say who the wall belongs to, but I would be going on the assumption it’s a shared responsibility.

I’ve done 70+50mm rigid board insulation in my loft and it’s grand. 50+50 would be acceptable I’m sure.

I’m in a t300 mwb mr transit. Perfect van for me as it takes 2x 21″ mowers in the side door, leaving the back empty for access to tools or for bags of waste.

Buy the van to suit business first, pleasure second.

Are you aelf employed? When you say big job does that mean you only have one garden? Makes a difference qhether you need space for waste, getting mowers in and out 12 times a day etc

Just waiting to get some pvc cladding now. I have found it in 5.5m lengths so I will be able to clad the ceiling perpendicular to the beams and save having to add fixing batons between the 1.2m widths. It has been like this for a couple of months and what a difference – we don’t close the doors from the kitchen to the conservatory any more as it’s basically as comfortable as the kitchen now and is a wholly open and useable space for the family.

I’ve taken off the old conservatory light and wired up a new ceiling light, nice and close to the ceiling so it doesn’t get in the way. The supply to the light was constant live, switched only at the light fitting itself (plus a master “whole conservatory” switch near the floor on the way in) so I’ve just put a bathroom switch next to it on the ceiling. Doesn’t look TOO bad! :)

Some kids cannot be controlled no matter how good a parent you are. And given that kids are part of the family (and can’t be left at the door on a lead), not an accessory, then yes they will be going to pub lunches with the folks. At least they’re not sitting on the seats with shitty arses or spreading dog hairs around a dining establishment…

OP, just go to another pub.

A lot of parents buy their kids bikes for their own benefit… feel good factor that they’ve spent lots of money. The kids really don’t care, and when I was a kid I never ever thought my bike was heavy.

But whittling things down to being cost effective, because there’s this daft second hand market for Isla, frog etc, it does make sense to buy a good used bike for 200 and sell it 2 years later for 150.

Just north of Glasgow. Woke to 2 inches or more of fresh snow. I walked a mile and a bit to pick the car up from the pub. A few vans and trucks stuck on local main roads. Doing a run to Glasgow Airport shortly. Erskine Bridge closed so it’s Clyde tunnel.

Glad it’s a holiday for most to keep roads quiet. With all seasons on the car I’ll get there Ok if not blocked by other traffic.

Driving to Inverness tomorrow so keeping an eye on the A9 but I guess it will be plowed and gritted first before anything else.

Whereabouts? I’m in Lenzie and it’s been fun again today
