I cut my grass last night 930-10. Petrol strimmer, blower and mower. Just thought I’d share.

I’ll be digging it much deeper than needed and creating a sump below the min depth

Why does she need a car while she’s learning? I believe instructors have their own cars. Not tempted to line her up some job interviews instead? I bought and insured my own car at 18, insurance was £800.

Does it really get that busy that you can’t find space for a picnic blanket? If so, and you’d be elbow to elbow with other people, I can’t see it being much fun!

I only tip when everything has been perfect. One annoyance or problem gets no tip. What’s the point of a tip otherwise?

Don’t get a bloody Killy willow, everyone thinks they’re lovely and buys one and wonders why it looks terrible 3 years later!

Pieris would be a striking colour amongst the stone. A birch would be lovely. Pyrus. In pots try an Acer, I don’t like skimmia as it almost looks fake but it’s evergreen at least. Witch hazel.

A leaf blower will help keep it all clean. Next thread – which leaf blower for 30m2.

Light to me means under 5kg…not those obsessive weight junkies! All I have now is a hulking great 5man that must be 14kg!

I was about to ask the same as rockape, do you mean gravel or stone chip? Is there membrane down? Any plants at present? Or it it rockery style with large boulders placed among soil? Is it raised?

I don’t think grammar and iq are tied to each other. Being young he naturally has a lot to learn. All sounds quite normal.

They all look really packed in on the site – I don’t suppose there’s any choices where the tent/chalet isn’t 2 yards from the next one? :)

I deliberately didn’t want to narrow things down, as it’s all going to be a bit last minute and we’ll be lucky to find space I think.

Kids clubs would be good so the wee man meets other kids properly. But I’d rather he got some outdoors in his system… watersports, fishing, beaches.

And a chalet/lodge/caravan would be first choice of accommodation.

Previous comments about driving at 80 are typical…but if you don’t sit around that on a long night time motorway drive you’re in the minority. And I’d hate to hit a deer at that speed!

I’ve hit one at 50 before, new bumper, bonnet, radiator, headlight just about bodged it up.

Realistically, it should be about £1000/m² for a completed extension.

    Try 1500-2k

The questions are how much do they want to spend, how big, and is it just for storing some worthless garden tools?

Thanks for all the words, they mean a lot. Greg I absolutely want to know exactly what happened… horrendous or not, I can’t learn to deal with the unknown. If I know I feel I’ll be able to understand her more and accept what she’s gone through. I’m sure if you see my facebook page you’ll see her.

I’m going to download a load of photos from her facebook so I’ve always got things to remember her by. There are pictures of us both hanging out, times were so happy and relaxed, fun and interesting. We had a great circle of friends and I can still hear her laugh

My echo brushcutter was bought second hand in 2010 for £120 and is still going without any repairs, only replacement of wear and tear parts.

I’m pally enough with the boyfriend so I didn’t feel too bad asking him. Certain things are just making it so bad – the fact she never met my wee boy or girl, the fact we’d been in touch not a month ago about catching up sometime, certain phrases I use in almost everyday life now were directly from her… :(

Everyone’s going to say Felco or Bahco.

    I use felco no7.

However, I’m certain there’s better if you go fancy japanese.

Turns out the boyfriend was in France visiting his mum and she’d been at home in Glasgow, not answering calls for a few days. Friends got no answer knocking the door so the boyfriend called the police who entered the flat and found her.

It’s a nightmare to think she suffered at the end.

Why trot a bunch of red maggots down the swim when you can lob in a trace of treble hooks and jig out 3 times as much!?

Talking about music always brings out the simple ones that think they know it all, that knowing lots of facts about music supersedes other people’s opinions. After all, art is about opinion, not fact.

But the 90s were definitely best.

Metal found a new riff in the 90s. The hair stayed long but stopped defining the image of the music. Metallica got good, one of my all time favourite albums (Subhuman Race) by Skid Row came out, Slayer, Corrosion of Conformity, the Monsters of Rock gig in Moscow 1991 (I wasn’t there but even just the video feels awesone).

    So much more.

Mince on toast is food of the gods. Fife reared but possibly lenzie or liverpudlian derived as my parents did the cooking obviously.

I’m in Lenzie now, and I’m sure I heard the helpers mention mince on toast whilst scrubbing the marble staircase.

I don’t think I’d have stayed very focussed if I received that phone call. A combination of wondering if it was 1st April and desire to throw sarcasm back at them would leave me incoherent I’m sure.

Kids teasing for a swollen lip doesn’t classy as bullying in my book. It’s normal and I’d expect it. If we stop our kids from facing ANY difficulty while growing up we’ll end up with a load of effin pansies who can’t fend for themselves!

I am about to sort my roof out. Multi layer 19 sheet insulation is £125 a roll from Screwfix. This is fitted underneath batters screwed to the roofing spars. Then overcladding with White Cladding or 300mm Soffit board. Total cost around £250 and a days work

This sounds ace…pics please once done. Not much weight to mess about with load support too.

The key is to take your time digging out soil and cutting roots. You’ll get there and a nattock should be the only tool you need. Sharpen it with a grinder…use the axe end for chopping bigger roots and the hoe end for cutting out soil and smaller roots. Between digging trails, my business and my own garden I feel like I’m digging out stumps non stop!
