I am generally OK at keeping them for a few months it is the riding them that is the problem.

1/ Cove Handjob – bought the frame and built it up, never bothered to ride it, split and sold
2/ Pearson CX bike – bought it all new, rode once and then split and sold
3/ Trek FX 7.5 bought in a the sale, rode for 6 times and sold on

I still have two brand new bike that I haven’t yet ridden.

1/ A 2009 whyte 19 carbon hardtail, now over 3 years old but never yet ridden, bought a scott scale last year and that get ridden all the time
2/ A 2012 Trek Madone bought about 3 months ago but not yet ridden, primarily due to injury (tendonitis), but I have been riding my road bike for the last month and still keep taking the old one out

I can’t see many benefits of going private for basic preventative treatment – check ups, x rays and scale and polish, although perhaps it will be a lot easier to get an appointment that suits your diary by going private.

I am no lover of dentists after having very poor and unprofessional treatment as a child. So for me trust in my dentist counts for everything.

I have recently just joined a new practice after a long absence and was quite surprised to see the apparent variation in private costs even with a 1 mile radius of where I live. NHS is not really an option for mw given where I live.

I was up there before 9am on Sunday and it was heaving – perhaps 60 or more riders at the top god knows what is must have been like an hour or two later. But yes I hear it is going PDQ.

Nice to see Zoe Smith was also included. I didn’t believe there has been a single mention of her or weightlifting during the entire games. She has a nice smile, hadn’t realised she was only eighteen, she came 12th with a new british record google tells me.

15% of net income. SW London. It was probably nearer to 30% when I bought it 10 years ago. However, my service charges are close to 50% of my mortgage so true costs are probably nearer 25%

Seems like too much of a coincidence to me, pretty sure its doesn’t just appear overnight, more of a gradual development until one realises that things are just not right. Plus I also think GPs do not diagnose IBS before you have had symptoms for 6 months or more or at least for a significant period of time.

    Get down to the GP

Audi’s are not expensive to service now they have fixed price servicing. My Audi a3 2.0TFSI Quattro, is the cheapest car I have owned in terms of servicing costs. Even cheaper than my new VW up!

My Audi has been fantastic not a single fault in 6 years from new and they dealer is very good IMO, I would happily buy again. Depending on mileage type of driving, I think the Up! Is as better bet than the Audi, the A1 is very expensive for what it is, whereas the VW is cheap as chips for what it is.

You should be able to through check-in (and your bags) from EDI to the US. The BA flight to T1 must be an old BMI route/flight. You should be fine, and if not, do not worry too much BA will sort you out without any fuss.

I live next to sigma sport , I was thinking of starting at horsehair at one end of Kingston bridge for the women’s and move over to the bushy park and the Diana fountain for the men’s, or basically float around from the kingston end of the portsmouth road, market place, Kingston bridge, to bushy park area, all in all only about a 20 min walk so no need to stay in one place?

Sat 28th July road closure in place from 04:00am (06:00 Hampton Court Road) lifted as soon as safe after the race

Sun 29th July road closure in place from 06:00am lifted as soon as safe after the race

Mon 30th July no road closures – I think

Tues 31st July. Time Trial rehearsal 10:00-12:00 rolling road closures (more disruption rather than full blown closures)

Weds 1st Aug. Road closures in place from 05:30, but Hampton Court Road closed from 31st July at 22:00. Everything only reopens at 06:00am on 2nd August.

Parking restrictions have their own rules even more “draconian”.

Please visit richmond.gov.uk/olympics for more info. I live opposite Bushy Park. I am ****, need to WFH and go and watch the TT 😆

Audi A3 2.0T FSI Quattro would be my choice over the GTI, so long as you are happy with the higher fuel consumption. Never a big fan of the MkV, I thought the quality feel took a turn for the worse, over a Mk4.

My audi was quite a bit cheaper to insure than the Golf GTI despite costing more, higher spec etc etc.

It will not get better moving forwards, ancillary selling is seen as an effective way of improving revenues and margins. It is not too may years ago when O’Leary’s vision was to give the seats away for free and drive 100% of revenues from add-ons.

Typically 11:30 to midnight and up at 5-45am during the summer. It is hurting though and I feel I could do with an extra 60-90 mins a night.

I am quite surprised how early some folk or going to bed going on the above replies

Many interviews these days are behavioural based interviews, especially with large employers, assessing how well you score against behavioural criteria as well a job specific knowledge and experience.

So you will need to think about the behavioural skills they are looking for that are most relevant to succeeding in the role. Eg. Motivation, Leadership, Organisation, Decision Making, Business Competence, Influencing, Communication etc etc.

The interviewer will be looking for hard examples, and your answers should address the situation or context, your approach (how), and the result. People will always be looking for self awareness and learning, so having good answers for what went wrong and what you learnt and applied next time is good.

I truly hate them, but almost hate doing behavioural based interviews just as much

If you are bothered by what the mechanic has said then I would say do not buy it, as it suggests to me you are not prepared for the shock of big repair bills. A FSH is not the same as F BMW SH in my book.

Also, I can not really see why you want to buy it. I understand the 3.0 straight six attraction, but there seem to be a lot of downsides unless to need a big exec saloon?

Small cars can be fun. I have recently bought a VW Up!, and my Audi Quattro sits in the garage all week. For getting to and from work 40 mile round trip it is fine and I almost enjoy visiting the petrol station to fill it up. With technically no no claims as it is a second car it costs me 50p a day to insure.

All that said everyone needs to get the big powerful alpha male car out of their system. So best do it now so you can then enjoy years and years of cheap and practical motoring in the future. Took me 20 years to see the light 😀

Apollo would get my vote if you can live with its looks. But I have never listened to the more recent Marantz models. I had a Marantz CD63 SE which was and is still a fine player.

Yep “socialising ideas” is the one that grates me at the moment. Now I know I am an unsociable bugger, but if the men in the sharp suits want any time from my team then they better come and talk to me about their ******* ideas.

I would also say go s/h if you can hold out for finding a model and size that suits. Road bikes generally have a fairly easy time, plenty with low miles on the clock, and if they are really well used probably also well looked after?

NAIM CD5, if you want to spend circa £400 or a Densen for a similar amount. Rega Saturn maybe, not sure how much they go for. Below that Rega Apollo, Cyrus CD6S. not the SE models, and below that a Marantz CD63 SE.

I don’t know much about their mountain bikes but the 2012 Madones have been given very good reviews and compared with the other majors are very competitively priced.

I bought my first Trek road bike this year, but I would admit that for the last few years I have stuck to Spesh and Scott.

I have heard or read mixed reviews about their warranty but I have no first hand experience. Touch wood.

I can’t believe they are as bad as their reputation would have everyone believe, but as project says I would not touch them. I couldn’t do with the hassle for an extra 0.5% or whatever is their differential

coffeeking I have absolutely no vested interest in the insurance industry but it seems clear what benefits you derive from paying the additional premium to protect your NCD entitlement.

There are certainly issues around the transparency of the base premium price either before or after an accident. Does anyone really know whether they are getting a 60, 65 or 70% discount, and indeed does anyone really care as the only figure that matters is the net result.

I have seen some companies advertise up to 65% discount or whatever, but so what if their premiums are 5% higher in the first place.

Smoke and mirrors … perhaps i have talked myself around to your position 😯

    GJP

    Is it not pretty obvious.

1/ Insurer calculates your base premium based on your perceived future risk taking into account accident history (years of no claims entitlement isn’t relevant here as it is all encompassed by your accident history – you may not have one good for you)
2/ Insurer applies your NCD entitlement. No claims bonus protection is the premium you have paid as part of your insurance premium to insure your NCD. So if you are entitled to 60% and have an at fault accident then it will remain at 60% rather than falling back down to 40%

So protecting your NCD only ensures you do not fall from 60% to 40% or whatever it has no bearing on the calculation of your base premium. At least you do not have a double whammy of a premium increase based on risk and then a lesser reduction owing to a decrease in your NCD in the year following an accident.

    Simples …

PS I do not work in insurance so it could be bollocks 😆

You will retain your no claims protection and your NCD, but your current insurer will probably load a premium on your renewal policy, or at least mine did when I had an expensive at fault accident.

Look around a new insurer has no interest in how much your last insurer forked out for you last year, or at least Aviva didn’t with me when I moved from Zurich.

My premiums where set to rise from about £600 to over £1000 with Zurich. Aviva offered me less than £500 and even that went down further the next year.

Can you really have 13 years no claims? I thought insurers just stopped counting after 5 or 6 years. I have never had a renewal notice that suggested I had 10 or so years no claims?

I expect you will struggle to get anything off the skoda as it is a brand new model. The waiting lists for the VW up are growing by the week. My dealer has sold its allocation for the year by the end of May.

The VW up is a fab little car, I love mine. So the skoda should be fun to.

I have been interviewing candidates and doing group assessments for the last couple of weeks. Its exhausting for the interviewer as well so be nice to them 😆

A start would be to listen to the damn questions and keep your answers concise. Speak less say more.

And I really couldn’t give a flying **** as to why your CEO’s decisions led to you being laid off 10 years ago; nor that the reason you are breaking your contract with company X is tighter IR35 rules you lazy, piss taking useless fecker …

It has been a long and tiring week ….
