I currently have an A3 Sportback 2.0T Quatto and it is a very nice bike friendly car without being a full on estate although it is not really a looker. Before that I had a Golf Mark IV which was very well built and high quality materials but was a bit of a dull drive.

I had major problems with the cooling fans on the Golf – but they were specific to my model. Other than that no problems with the Golf or the Audi

I briefly considered the A4 Avant but it seemed too big for me and quite a bit more expensive at the time after far too many years driving golf sized hatchbacks.

I just could not get on with the older VAG disiel engines (nothing better than a tractor IMO) compared with the common rail BMWs. I would now be tempted by an VAG disiel but not sure how far the new common rail engines have filtered down across the range.

If you check out the Whyte site and their pdf download then I believe they are selling three of their 2009 models as framesets only.

The 19 carbon HT which I have ordered ( 😆 roll on mid-Feb), the 19 Ti Trail and the full suss one

orena45 – I have found it. Will check I have all the bits to go with it but you probably have all of those by the sound of it.

If you email me your address I will post it – probably Monday now.

My email is in my profile.

Frame looks big to me given the seat post extension? Don’t you catch your knackers whenever you stop at junctions etc

I have one knocking around somewhere I think since my crash last year. Had a quick look but couldn’t find it will look again tomorrow or over the weekend if you are interested.

Remind me is there a difference between front and rear?

I would be very suprised if there is a way to wriggle out of it as it would be some loop hole that you would have thought the banks would have closed.

Does smell a little of “having your cake and eating it” I’m afraid – one can only assume you took out a fixed rate for a good reason.

I thought when you took out/renew a mortgage you are normally asked to sign something that covers the banks backside against mis-selling etc

    I use some TACX ones.

Not heavy duty ones but they are the best I have used – although the only others I have tried are probably the blue park ones.

They also come in a nice range of colours if that sort of thing floats your boat 😆

FWIW I bought a set of 2007 Juicy 7’s including rotors off here in pretty much A1 condition for £90 posted last year. Which I thought was a good price. So circa the £100 mark sounds about right

I used them several times and they were fine but on my last order they damaged a frame in transit (or rather DHL did) and they completely renaged on the insurance when it was clearly their fault.

I have never used them since and never will

I have been feeling pretty crap for over month now. One day I am relatively OK the next feeling all fluey with aches and general tiredness and a pounding head etc and then the next day OK again. I just wish it would ever arrive full on or go away for good.

The only constant is my waistline increasing by the day.

Commercial IT Business Architect for a major blue chip. Probably the worst trading conditons we have seen for … well ever really. I would say 50/50 whether my job survives intact for the next 6 months.

I am reading “The Spell of the Sensuous” by David Abram.

It is quite hard to describe what it is about. It is a philosphical work about how changes in how we think and use language have led to our disconnection from nature and our environment.

**** me – I think I will pass on that one – sounds way over my simple head 🙄

    Thanks for all your ideas.

I took a trip down to Waterstones today and came back with the first in the Millenium trilogy by Stieg Larsson – the “Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” as recommended by the good Dr above and as he says so far it really is unputdownable!!

I read the first two or three of the Kathy Reichs novels several years ago so might give her another go – I didn’t know there was an association with the Bones TV series but I have never seen the series anyway

Anyone read any Thomas Wambaurg crime novels. I have Hollywood Station that I bought a few years ago but never read – so that may be next.

I think I may need to build my stamina for a 900 pager (matthewjb) – my concentration span at the moment may be better suited to Razzle.
