Is it just me that thinks the example above is a £250 paint job. £150 for the 'standard' jobbie and then an up-charge of £100 for the custom artwork that is out-sourced to the artist.

If it is all well done etc then it seems reasonable to me. Not cheap but you get what you pay for etc..

I really like mine used for both road and off-road. Relatively new to Spesh helmets as I had always used Giro ones. I think at first I found the lightness a little off-putting as if you weren't really wearing anything or it wasn't planted firmly on your head – but soon overcame that.

Realman – I wasn't trying to confuse you or lead you to believe your calculations were incorrect. I found it easier to work through it myself and only at the end did I realise we had done the same thing.

I am confident this is the right answer – the only thing I wasn't 100% sure on was the first derivative of e^3x ( I was a seriously sh1t hot mathematician in my day – if there is such a thing!)

    Good luck with the studies.

I regularly see Max Clifford (that is pretty much every weekend) and his brand spanking new Bentley at a coffee shop in Weybridge. You really would think he had something better to do.

Does is not go like this

    y = uv
    dy/dx – u.dv/dx + v.du/dx

    Now y = (x^2).(e^3x)

    So, dy/dx = (x^2).(3.e^3x) + (2x).(e^3x) { I think the dy/dx of y = e^x = e^x and if y = e^3x then dy/dx = 3.e^3x}

    = (e^3x).(3.x^2 + 2x)
    = x.e^3x.(3x+2)
    Substituting x = 1 gives
    dy/dx(1) = 1.e^3.(5×1 + 2)
    = 5.e^3

Then the y = mx + c bit gives the same answer as you. So I agree you are correct.

As others have said go to your GP and have a full blood screen. I had similar symptoms a few years back and mine proved to be an under-active thyroid. At the time I was thinking along the lines of diabetes

It costs £15 to courier a bike. They are taking the piss.

Would be interested in knowing who will courier a bike for £15 that is fully insured (i.e more than £50 or £150)?

If you are prepared to pay Dualit type money then take a look at Rowlett. I have had one for about 10 years with no problems. I prefer their aesthetics to the Dualit ones but that is all down to personal taste.

Global bikes are now Enigma bikes afaik. They have a website because I was looking at it the other day.

I am pretty sure this is not true. Enigma if anything are the re-incarnation of Omega at least in the sense the the owner/designer of omega Mark Reilly which went bust now works for Jim Walker who set up Enigma.

I watched it and was left with the impression that she definitely knew what she was saying/doing – she must have repeated it about 3 times?

I feel she should be fired, although that may only make things worse for the guy.

It was behaviour that would not be tolerated in any modern workplace. She is paid for what she does so I don't feel why the ITV should treat her any differently than any other of their employees.

    Who are proflex?

I didn't get a lot out of the guys – other than they are based in the US, made in the far east and assembled in Barcelona. Spoke a lot better English than I speak either Spanish or French or wherever he was from but it was hard work.

Sadly, I quite liked the paint jobs for my XC jey-boy ambitions 😆

I work in the 'not for profit' sector – otherwise known as an Airline.

It's a fascinating and incredibly complex industry and they say that once you smell the kerosene you are hooked and there is a certain amount of truth in that – I have been with the same company for close on 16 years now.

I generally enjoy it – but I do often wonder what it would be like to work in a generally profitable industry sector where you are not rolling from one major world crisis into the next.

I reckon it looks pretty neat as it is. If it were mine I would either leave as is or go for something far more flamboyant to make it quite personal/unique. Perhaps a pearlescent or sparkly finish – might not be the best finishes for MTBs though

On closer inspection I can see benefits to the customer from the above approach. It provides clear transparency to the customer over what charges they will incur. A simple flat (albeit tiered) fee for each day overdrawn for authorized overdrafts and clear penalty for those who go overdrawn without prior authorization.

It is perhaps a pity that it is not a simple flat rate per day but the example above shows why the bank has implemented a tiered approach. Given the customer backlash over the lack of transparency of bank charges and their unfairness then I can certainly see why a bank would go for this approach. IMO it seems like some customers both "want their cake and eat it".

So it looks like the banks simply don't want personal customers who go overdrawn? Or alternatively see them as a cash cow? Neither explanation and there are probably others really bothers me – probably not been overdrawn for the last 20 years or so since starting work – am I in such a minority?

Pretty sure I would not be choosing who I bank with based on the overdraft fees

Good – it's not just me then.

For me it seems better or less noticeable in the evenings than it does in the mornings. I have always put it down to the fact that I suffer from Depression but perhaps it has nothing to do with that and it is just age. Certainly wasn't like this a few years ago.

    The comments from Pieface

Are the VAG TDis still no power at all and then a stupid amount of torque then power tail off to change gear?

This perhaps describes my experiences more eloquently.

If the engines were that damn good why is it that VAG have for the last couple of years started using common rail engines – they seemed very very slow to follow BMW, Ford and others in this respect IMO.

I seem to be in a minority but I wouldn't be able to live with one of the older (pre common rail) VAG diesel engines. IMO they are god awful engines – I would rather have a tractor.

When I last changed my car I was quite open minded about have a diesel engine for the first time – but in relation to comparable BMW engines the VAG engines seemed very old school diesel. Ended up with a petrol engined Audi.

I would look out for a lot of horrible noise, odd surges in power and running out of puff just as you have started to get going and a strong desire to just stop get out and throw the keys at the salesman. Perhaps the car I drove was not run in.

    Sorry not very helpful.

Actually, if you are unfamiliar with Audi's sport suspension then you may well experience a rather harsh ride depending on road conditions.

I am with the Moses guy at the top of the thread – whether I would trade £13k for greater job security would very much depend on what the lower salary was and not just that it was £13k less.

Given a choice between £40k and £27k I would stick with the £40k. Not even sure at £40k you are paying higher rate tax – you may be but certainly not the the full difference of £13k.

I know it is above the national average but IMO £27k sounds like peanuts for someone who has a professional career and a proven record – I wouldn't expect you to have too much difficulty finding work at that sort of salary outside of your profession if the locum job all went tits up to tie you over until something more appropriate comes along?

But perhaps my opinions/beliefs are tainted by working in the South East in the private sector

Only when I do not feel very strong and I can't summon up the energy push on the pedals harder – so I sit up and slow down and pretend to be enjoying the view as if that was the principal objective of why I was out riding in the first place. Happens a lot these days especially when out riding on my own which is about 2/3 rds of the time

I recently upgraded to an Ultegra 6700 groupset from the older but lightly used 10 speed Ultegra 6600.

TBH I was pretty sceptical that it would really be any better as I always thought Ultegra was really spot on for performance and price. But I am pleased to say that it is a step up – the shifting is so precise and quick and the brakes are noticeably more powerful and with much better modulation. Oddly I have never been a fan of DA brakes as I thought they had too much feel for my liking.

How much of this is down to being set up by a top mechanic I don't know – but the older set was also set up by a very reputable shop.

I assume they are either like this when you buy them or they are OK and this is not a fault that develops over time i.e the casting is out of alignment – full stop – rather than the lowers getting slowly "twisted".

I have a pair of 09 forks that have yet to be used and was thinking about buying another set from Merlin in their sale.

I run my MTBs and Road bikes at the same saddle height as measured from the centre of the BB – but of course this does not take into account different crank lengths 175mm and 170mm respectively nor the differences in pedals and shoes. So anybody's guess really.

I have a similar problem – so rather than posting a new thread can I tack mine on here.

Ally frame and Ally post Easton EA70. Min insert line is below top of seat tube (Tick) but not below or in line with the junction of the ST and TT (No Tick).

Will this be a problem Evans said not – but in the past I have always ensured min insertion line is at least as far in the frame as the TT and ST junction.

Not a porker but by no means a race whippet at the moment.
