Jack, you tend to be looking through the bend before you turn the handlebars, so not much use having them on the forks.

Andy, how could it mount to a chin bar without interfering with the visor?

Trout – looking forward to my wifes birthday present to me – bargain ;-)

Wouldn’t want to be using any adhesive to stick anything on top of a good helmet – adhesive would almost certainly attack the resin in a helmet and make it brittle.
Also anything protruding from a helmet could snag on the ground and rotate the head un-neccesarily in the event of an off – guess i would prefer to be riding a fair bit slower than have either of the two first options.

i do agree that adaptive headlights would be a good idea – BMW have them on one of the 1600’s

HID upgrades seem to be the only thing available at the moment, looking at the BMW forum quite a few riders seem to have went down this line.

I was at least 40 a day regular, plus most illegal substances. Used to chain smoke when on e’s or speed.

smoked constantly during the day on construction sites.
When i got a new role which would involve a lot of driving, i decided that i wasn’t going to smoke in the car, and gradually over about 4 or 5 years i cut down where i would smoke.
it ended up with me just smoking at weekends in the pub, then just one night. so i thought – if i only smoke one night a week why bother at all. No tobacco and weed free for about 4 years.
I know now that if the craving takes over when i have a couple of beers, i can have a couple of cigs – but the shitty taste the next day means i will never start again.

Good Luck – only you can stop it if you really want to.

Marco was getting more popular each week as he tried everything the bike(and his abilities)could do to try and get to the front of a race.
This made him unpopular with quite a few riders, but i thought it was superb – my kind of racer.

I didn’t watch the race on Sunday but had it recorded – couldn’t bring myself down any more by watching it, so it has been deleted.

RIP big fella – you made me smile and get excited about motorsport.

Quite a few Bolle safety glasses in my garage – no distortion and have an anti mist coating.
Also have a couple of pairs of Bolle polarizeed for the sunny times of year.
All work well, it helps when i get them free from the Bolle rep at the annual safety show at the NEC.

Shedbrewed – MT01’s can be had at a reasonable price 2nd hand.
Mines was absolutley mint – 4 years old, 2500miles, Yamaha speedblock / kenny roberts yellow paint scheme (only one in the UK),meta alarm, RAASK end cans, pipercross air filter, fenda extenda, tribo seat cover – dealers were offering me £3500 – 4000 for it.
That’s why i had to do a p/x on it, to try and get a few quid more.

Real difficult to sell motorbikes at the moment, i’ve just done a p/x on my Fazer 1000 and MT01 as nobody was interested in buying them privatley.

One guy did phone following my 6 week advert with MCN.

Are you looking for a straight sell or are you looking at another bike?

Recently bought my first shaft drive bike – BMW K1300s. Bloody hell it’s fast. Way faster than the Fazer 1000 i p/x’d.

It’s got all the extras – abs, traction control electronic suspension adjustment, heated grips, quick shifter. Just added a BMC air filter and a MIVV carbon end can – sounds really nice.

Need to spend a few hundred quid to get my Cagive V-raptor 1000 back on the road.

I work for a mixed tenure developer in the Midlands.
We are selling hardly any new builds, with our most successful development being in Stoke /Meir Heath.
Ther majority of houses being built at the moment are HA funded for social / affordable use.
Stock plots and land banks are pretty substantial for the larger developers, so don’t see any real rush to build houses in this region.

Had to get a new mattress last year when the new missus started asking – “who slept in here before me, how many other women were in this bed” etc

After much deliberation and shop bouncing, we went for a Kaymed oppulence pillow top. 2000 pocket spring, 2 different foam types and a soft pillow topping.
Thing is bloody mahoosive, but very comfy. Mattress is vented so should let air flow through – only problem is when we fitted a mattress protector, it was too hot for me.
Heavy to turn round in a tight room.
    Not cheap.
Overall much better than our previous Slumberland and a long garuntee.

We are getting married on the 1st July, we both wanted to. Been together just under 4 years and lived together 2 1/2 years.
Future Mrs Gixer gave up her family to be with me – totally disowned by her mum, dad, brothers, extended family etc. Partially for racial reasons, partly because of me being a lot older than her.
I see getting married as a way of showing her my commitment and love for her – despite me being a grumppy bugger a lot of the time. i am now at a stage in life where i am ready to settle down and hopefully have kids after all my years of being a selfish waster of a single guy.
I know it will give Mrs G a bit of security which she deserves.

4 of us bought a few pairs each for riding France/Spain /Pyrennese last year – wee tumble in the Picos de Europa where i started sliding backwards down an effin steep hill on a gravely bend showed that the jeans are very well made.
Mrs Gixers leg got stuck under the bike and pannier as it slid, so she took more of a bump than me. She had a sore elbow for about 15 minutes.
Sat about for about 1/2 an hour then rode back down the mountain to try and repair the pillion footpeg.
    Jeans damage – none.
We wear them all the time if the weather is reasonable, hip and knee armour fitted, kevlar to ass, knees and hips.
Much more comfortable off the bike than leathers.

We tried loads of different armoured jeans and these seemed the best made, one pair at J&S – think they were Joe Rocket or Arlen Ness burst at the seams as i gave them a “pull test” in the shop!!

Lakes – asbestos was banned from construction in 1999.
If asbestos is in good condition it can be left or encapsulated.
A management survey should cost a couple of hundred quid – this will identify the asbestos type, condition and a reccomendation.
it is not illegal for you to remove asbestos cement sheet – you just have to look at the HSE website and advice is available.
Where are you based, i might be able to get you a decent price from a licensed asbestos removal contractor.

TCX make good boots – i replaced my Sidi Vertabrea boots with a set of TCX Competizione RS. Slid down the road in the Picos de Europa last year, fell straight onto my right side and slid backwards on a gravel patch – boot was under the bike ( fully loaded with 2 weeks gear and the missus ) Couple of minor scratches to the boot, no bruising or damage – i rate them better than my Sidi’s
My missus wears SPIDI XPD VR5 and these are also a very good boot – discontinued, but can be found new on flea bay.

Forcefield / Halvarson do top rated back protectors – not cheap, but back bones aren’t easy to repair.

Just had the pump and 3 hoses replaced on my 1999 Servis washing machine today. It’s the 1st time it has broken down since new.
Guy who fixes them locally guarantees the work for 12 months.
Cost me £65, which i thought was good.
Chatting to him about new machines and he says that a lot of the new machines spin at 1400 – 1600 rpm, the older ones were about 800-900 rpm and put a lot less stress on the bearings, modern ones have smaller motors, more plastic and a lot more electronics to run all the programmes.
He reckons Hoover, Hotpoint and Indesit are shonky, Miele are best closely followed by Bosch.

Mick, your employer has aduty to provide you with suitable PPE which must be specified following a suitable risk assessment being carried out. PPE will not be suitable if it doesn’t protect you from the hazards such as spilling battery acid, engine oil etc.
It may be worthwhile discussing the issue with the local authority environmental / safety officer if your employer isn’t playing ball.

Do a search on the HSE website or look for PPE regs 1992 for information – i have included two of the legeslative provisions below for you to peek at

    hope this helps

Maintenance and replacement of personal protective equipment
7.—(1) Every employer shall ensure that any personal protective equipment provided to his employees is maintained (including replaced or cleaned as appropriate) in an efficient state, in efficient working order and in good repair.

    (2) Every self-employed person shall ensure that any personal protective equipment provided to him is maintained (including replaced or cleaned as appropriate) in an efficient state, in efficient working order and in good repair.

    Accommodation for personal protective equipment
    8. Where an employer or self-employed person is required, by virtue of regulation 4, to ensure personal protective equipment is provided, he shall also ensure that appropriate accommodation is provided for that personal protective equipment when it is not being used.

Just bought a couple of new ones from Decathlon in Wednesfield

for the missus an Ashaway reduced from £99 to £39, an a Yonex for me reduced from £89 to &29.

We play for a few hours every week having started last year, our coach said that both were cracking value, but the Ashaway was a really nice racquet.

Just need to consider whether i can spend 2 weeks lazing around.
I’m quite fidgety and usually need plenty of distractions after 30 minutes of lying on a beach / around a pool.

Stevie, i have just been through the same process. I wanted a camera to replace my Panasonic FZ18. Thought i wanted a DSLR and have spent a fair bit of time over the last two months looking at various cameras from about £400 – £800 as my missus was buying it for my Christmas present.
Full size DSLR’s were too bulky for me when hill walking / scrambling around Skye, Wales, Lake District etc. I then started looking at the samsung NX10, Olympus PEN, Panasonic G2/G10, Sony NEX. I messed about with these in the shop quite a few times and couldn’t decide which one to get, one of the sales guys then asked me to have a look at the Panasonic FZ100. For me it was ideal, OK it doesn’t have as good performance in low light conditions as the other camers, but for 95% of the time, the zoom and performance are more than good enough for me. I eventaully went for this and the convenience over having to have two or 3 lenses in a bag as well as my walking gear.
    I bought it from ukcamerastore.co.uk

Surf – not all sewerage is pumped out untreated. I have worked on WWTW for years, building new ones and modernising some of the older ones.
The coastal one’s i have worked on include Ventnor, Ramsgate, Herne Bay, Whitstable, Hove, Holyhead and dozens of inland ones.
the coastal ones will only open the storm flap valves under extreme flood conditions, usually designed on a 50 year weather model.
WWTW have various filtration methods starting with screens, settlement tanks, sludge tanks etc. The sludge is then dried and collected by vehicles. The clean water will then be allowed to flow or be pumped to the end of a difusser and dissipated at sea. Pretty rare for untreated waste to be floting out of the difusser.

Hadge, i agree. “Celebrity” let off again.
    George Michael
    Pete Doherty
Brian Harvey and others get away with driving under the influence of drugs. FFS that smack head Doherty got done quite a few times and was left to waltz around the streets off his boggled eyed tree.

if i was caught driving while under the influence of smack, i would quite rightly expect to be banged up for at least a few weeks.

Think it is probably a fuse, have alook at the ownes manual and try replacing it before worying about the motor.

It has happened 4 times with my Astra, bad thing about it is when the washer fuse blows it also locks the boot, meaning you cant get into the back of the car to get a screwdriver, pliers etc. Real ***k design.
